The Imperial Army, which lost the second war, continued its desperate withdrawal.
|
The Imperial Army's Nyxie Base. Here, Ritz's Geno Saurer was about to be reborn. The wounds that it had received from the Blade at the Garil ruins were finally repaired. However, Ritz was unwilling to re-launch. That's because he had read the force ratio comparison report of the Blade Liger and Geno Saurer, as analyzed by the tactics department. In summary, it said that
"Although the Geno Saurer is superior as a weapon, in terms of overall strength, the Blade Liger is superior in direct confrontations." The Geno Saurer's compatibility with the Blade Liger was poor. Because of its good balance, which allowed it to respond to all situations, it was stated that the Blade would seize a considerable advantage due to its fighting performance.
—
If that's the case, then the fighting performance of the Geno Saurer has to be improved. No matter how difficult the unit may be!
Ritz' request moved the Imperial Technology Department. The technicians strengthened his favorite machine, just as he had demanded of them. To a monster named the Geno Breaker...
The red crest of the Blade Liger. Since that day, I haven't been able to get him out of my head. I want to defeat him. For that purpose, I'll ride any Zoid. No matter what happens to me.
(From the private record of the Imperial Army's Special Tactics Force, Ritz Runstedt.) |
The remnants of the Imperial troops escaped in two different directions, the North and South routes. However, the pursuit of the Republican Army continued.
| |
A dispatch order had been issued to the Geno Breaker.
"Defeat the Republican troops, and rescue your withdrawing allies."

- The Advent of the Empire's 3 Strongest Zoids (2)
The Geno Breaker stood in front of the Republican unit to protect its fellow army units.
Dust was flying on the battlefield. The harsh dust that the enemies and countless Zoids danced to.
It was 5 days since the second full-scale battle. The main force of the Imperial Army, which had failed in their total assault, aimed desperately for the west. The purpose of which was to escape the Republican Pursuit Units and escape to their ally's defensive line. There, they would rebuild their troops and prepare to fight again. There were two withdrawal routes. The first route lead through the north of the Muse Forest to the desert. The other route was a southern route across Alexandre Land, then across Hesperides Lake and into the desert.
The Imperial Corps on the southern route had a strategy to escape. There was a bridge over the lake. The Republican army could no longer follow them if their allies blew it up after they had crossed the bridge. However, their footsteps, exhausted by defeat were growing heavy. They had finally been overtaken by the Republican Army once they had reached the bridge. The rear guard, meant to protect them from pursuing attackers, didn't get off a single shot. They were immediately destroyed by the enemy's bombardment. It was guaranteed death. Every Imperial soldier was prepared to die.
But then, a Zoid appeared on the other side of the bridge. A Geno Saurer? No, it was different. This unit was red, like blood. It also had giant, clumsy looking shields and boosters.
In the midst of their enemies, the red monster slowly challenged the Republican forces, while both enemy and ally alike began to fumble.
Every moment, Republican Zoids were being defeated. The Blade Liger challenged the new terrifying machine of the Empire to a match.

- The Advent of the Empire's 3 Strongest Zoids (3)
The red monster. It was Ritz's Geno Breaker. The Imperial Army was trying to stop the crisis of the destruction of their main forces, by sending in all of their reserve troops. That's why they sent the Geno Breaker, even though they weren't happy with the tests. Yet, how fast it had appeared! Two days after the main force of the Empire had moved into a total retreat. It would take more than a full day for the Nixie Base, which was far behind, to compile the confusing information and get prepared to launch their reinforcements. The straight line from the base to Hesperides Lake was about 3000 km. The Geno Breaker had run that distance in just half a day. Through the desert. It was an impossible task that defied common sense. The Demon Dragon had done it, though, and this kind of mobility was satisfying to Ritz.
Even if the Blade opened up the rocket boosters entirely, it couldn't catch up to the movements of the Geno Breaker.
|
— Next, show me your fighting strenth.
Ritz charged at the forerunners of the Republican pursuit force. He swung the X Breakers. Zoids were cut through more easily than paper. He blocked the incoming artillery with the Free Round Shields. He felt the shock. But, that was it. Then he fired the Charged Particle Gun. Ten enemies were eliminated, and the recharge completed in only a few seconds.
It's strong. He could feel that he had gained an invincible power. Suddenly, a blue Zoid jumped into his line of sight. It was the Blade Liger. His body was instantly revived with newfound power, after it had become exhausted from piloting the nervous machine. He dodged the attack of the unit sliding towards him, and shot it down with the particle gun. One shot. Two shots. Three shots. So many that the Blade's E-Shield was rendered useless. It was stopped immediately.
A Charged Particle Gun that can fire continuously. It's impossible to endure, even with a strong E-Shield.
|
— Something's wrong. This isn't the one that I fought at the ruins.
There was no need to check for the crest. That pilot wouldn't have fought like this. Maybe it was a mass-produced machine with adjusted OS output. He had heard that the Imperial Army had also begun mass production of the Geno Saurer.
— Maybe he no longer has that Blade?
Ritz desperately tried to find his target in the group of Republican Zoids. There wasn't any of the calmness from when he'd been called Iceman. He tried to break through the enemy troops, but was interrupted by an incoming communication from the command center.
"Our friends have withdrawn. Destroy the bridge."
Ritz gritted his teeth. Regret was welling from the fact that he hadn't been able to meet the enemy he was aiming for. However, he immediately reconsidered.
No. I'm sure I'll see him again. At the right time, and the right place. The Geno Breaker's instincts told him so.
Suddenly, Ritz fired the Charged Particle Gun at the bridge.
The Geno Breaker destroyed the bridge. It protected its retreating allies from the Republican forces.
|
Several Republican units pursued the Imperial Army, but with this number they couldn't achieve any successful results, and when they tried to turn back, they were attacked.
|
One unit, the Death Stinger, stood as the "True Organoid" that had been born from the core recovered from the Garil Ruins.
|
The Imperial Army troops that had taken the South route succeeded in their retreat, and a new unit of the Empire was about to enter the North route.
