The August 2018 issue of CoroCoro Comic has been added to articles! I've decided to go ahead and start uploading the non-manga scans for the Zoids Wild time period of CoroCoro. These include some amazing diorama images for you to check out!
Kotobukiya has published on article on the HMM Geno Saurer Repackage Ver., revealing its brand new box art! This is a beautiful image depicting the aftermath of the Geno Saurer's test battle, which funny enough, we just covered in Official Fan Book 2. This was a suitable scene to choose for a mass rerelease of the original kit. "Mass produce the Geno Saurer immediately."
The LABO article shows two other concepts for the box art. The pose sketches depict a scene based on the original motorized kit's box art, and a second scene featuring the Geno Saurer standing in front of the large core capsule, thought to contain the missing piece of the Organoid System. Also from Fan Book 2! A tweet from one of Kotobukiya's shops has a much larger photo of the box art. A final footnote of the article mentions that their next post will be about the Wild Liger~
Omega Rex has just released, so we've got a fair amount of content for it. First off is the build video, showing the full construction process. Second is a for fun video posted by TakaraTomy Toys. Last but not least, we have a new commercial for the Zoid! The commercial shows the upcoming Kill Scythes, mantis-type Zoids.
- Omega Rex Commercial
- ZW39 Sonic Bird
TakaraTomy Toys also just posted a video of the Sonic Bird's basic walk cycle. It's interesting how the wings move with each step!
There's a new key visual for the Zoids Wild Zero anime series! This was recently posted on twitter, and features a gorgeous landscape with the Rising Liger, Omega Rex, and our first look at the Sonic Bird. The purple lining behind Omega Rex also bares a striking resemblance to the mysterious Zoid from CoroCoro...
It looks like we'll also be getting a new radio program for Zoids Wild Zero! We had one of these that ran during Zoids Wild, too. This time it'll be co-starring the two lead actresses, the voice actors of Sally and Aysel. The program will be destributed by Onsen every week on Thursday, starting from April 2nd. It's likely that we'll also see the new OP and ED of Zoids Wild Zero on this date, as the singles are releasing immediately after! The Anime ZW Twitter account posted a variation of the new key visual for this announcement, featuring just the Rising Liger.
ZW Battle Card Hunter has posted the page for their sixth volume, featuring the starting collection of cards. Some rarer cards, including the special rares are not listed here, but it's a nice start! Featuring a new variant, the Omega Rex Breaker, as well as Liger the Arthur.
They've even posted a page discussing some of the Special Rares, which contain story content on the card. We'll get some rough translations of what these say soon! In the mean time, the page contains a scrollable image for the continuous card background.
A third chapter of Zoids Wild EX-ZERO has been published in the May issue of Hobby Japan Magazine. This seems to feature a Sniptera and another variant of the Armd Liger, with its ever-evolving equipment tests.
Moritya posted some artwork of the Zoids Wild 2 and Liger The Arthur comic characters! It's always nice seeing clean images of the characters~ Yuji Kaida also posted some amazingly clean images of the Death Stinger ZS and Blade Liger Mirage box arts from the old Tomy motorized line. It's wonderful seeing large images of these after so long.
This week we got concept art of Frank Land's metallized right arm. Although we've seen this in the show, it'll be interesting to see how it develops in the future.
Dengeki Hobby Magazine as posted a new custom article, featuring Zoids Wild customs based on the instruction manual variations. It goes in depth into the build process, with WIP photos and more!
An update has been rolled out for the Zoids BLOX Promotional Video page (found under Media Box > Inclusive Media > Zoids BLOX). This includes screencaps of the first 2 chapters, as well as a video for the second chapter, which is an overview of the Matrix BLOX.
While Zoids Wild hasn't been picked up by any major subtitle groups, the entire series has now been dubbed in Hong Kong. As such, to tide people over until proper subs become available, a new page has been added for "Dubtitles." These are subtitles timed to the Japanese youtube release, using the script from the English Hong Kong dub. We hope to do at least 2-3 episodes a week. For now we have episodes 8 ~ 11 available. Falcarius was also kind enough to provide his original Subtitle files, which are proper translations of the episodes. This is why we didn't start at episode 1. Subs are always better!
We've seen a bit more of Liger The Arthur! Aside from appearing in the BCH commercial (below), we also saw an article from CoroCoro, which showed a profile image and one of the new images from CoroCoro Comic. We're still waiting to hear more about the application process.
Interestingly, we received a couple of concept sketches from Moritya, the designer of the Arthur and the manga artist for Zoids Wild and Zoids Wild 2. He showed us 2 different concepts for potential ligers. Liger The Arthur was shown with a giant metallic silver lance ((Purification??) Gungnir), and matt dark blue armor. The second concept, Galaxy Liger, showed a Light Saber type Beam Sword, metallic silver equipment, clear light blue armor, red clear visor, and white matt secondary armor.
All info for the Sonic Bird has been released! Aside from TT Toy's post on Twitter showing off the motorized movement, CoroCoro also posted on article showing off a fancy diorama image. Its page has been posted to both the Zoids Wild website and to the TakaraTomy Mall, where you can see box art images. Speaking of, we've added pages for ZW 38 ~ 41 to the model kit section.
Sonic Bird: Length: 8.9 m
Height: 4.5 m
Weight: 39.8 t
Maximum Speed: 552 km/h
IQ: 120
A build review video has been posted for the Sonic Bird. Most interesting is that this video contains pieces of concept art of the Zoid. It also shows off some of the customization examples, as usual.
Starting on March 28th, fans who buy 3,000 yen or more worth of Zoids Wild products at participating stores will receive one of three random customize weapons.
During April (and most of March) (3/28 ~ 4/25), users will receive 1 random weapon from the Command Attack Unit Silver Titanium Ver. They can receive the Bone Blade, Grinder Cutter, or Panzer Faust. During March (starting 4/25), they can receive 1 random weapon from the same weapons unit, instead having a chance to win the Arc Knife, Auto Saw, or Square Shield. If users purchase 3,000 yen or more worth of items during both of the campaign periods, they'll receive one additional (random) item: The Mega Lance, Wing Cutter, or Attachment Frame.
So where can you get these? There are no stores (to my knowledge) that offer guarantees. However, amiami appears to be the most likely to send out purchase campaign benefits. While HLJ occasionally gives out campaign benefits, it is usually a part of their own campaigns, and not a part of the original purchase campaign. Otherwise, keep an eye out on Yahoo Japan, etc.!
We have a few more images from Zoids Wild and Wild Zero. First, a couple of character concepts: Fiona's Everyday Wear, and normal!Aldrich Vs. when he is piloting the Genospino. We also have a Zoids height chart, which shows some impressive scales. The Kongs are huge, and Jammingas (beside Beast Liger) are tiny. Although not necessarily a concept, the anime twitter also posted a high-res Fang Tiger image.
Zoids Wild Battle Card Hunter has announced a new limited-time boss battle, the Stylaser Red Fort, which is only obtainable for Sebuka card users starting from March 12th. They also announced the Beast Liger Optical Camouflage Spec., as a limited boss from March 19th. The April issue of CoroCoro comes with a limited Liger The Arthur card, with special art drawn by Moritya, the manga artist. Last but not least, the latest CoroCoro Aniki comes with a special Blade Liger BCH card, using art by Ueyama!
- Zoids Coloring Pages
Strangey, the BCH site also posted a couple of coloring pages as a PDF. A Zoids coloring book would be nice to have! But these are neat in the mean time.
- A New Expansion Looms!
They've also recently announced the next expansion, based on Zoids Wild Zero! This expansion also includes cards of Liger The Arthur, which we see a little bit more of in the new commercial! The commercial illustrates a new collectable card style, SP cards that are strung together in a line, creating a sprawling scene. I've always been a fan of connecting card art, and this is beautifully done. They've made mentions of a story for these cards, so it'll be interesting to see how that develops. It's possible they're just referring to the scene that the cards themselves illustrate.
- 3rd Great Treasure Excavation Event!
Although we currently lack official images, the third Great Treasure Excavation Event has been announced! This time, the limited (150 released) Zoid will be the Rising Liger Ruby, and the more common (1000 released) runner up prize will be the Gravity Cannon Unit Clear Red Ver.
The second chapter of Zoids Official Fan Book Volume 2 has been added! This chapter covers the first encounter between the Geno Saurer and the Blade Liger, and some insight into other Zoids that possess the Organoid System.
Kotobukiya has announced a reissue of the Dibison, in the form of a Dibison Marking Plus Ver.! Like other Marking Plus variations, it contains new decals, a standard pilot, and clear colorless parts in addition to the standard color. It will also contain a new silver color for the horns and hooves, based on the silver used for the Gojulas Gunner. It is scheduled to release in July, for a retail price of 9,800 yen, but you can find it cheaper in your online store of choice.
To set this Zoid apart, the Dibison is using the old registration number, RBOZ-006 instead of RZ-031. The decal set is the same as the Saber Tiger, with the exception of the Republican logos and registration numbers (which include both RBOZ and RZ designations.) You can read all about it in Kotobukiya's LABO article.
- HMM Model Kit Reissues
Aside from Dibison, Kotobukiya also announced a few reissues for July. This includes the Iguan (4,200 Yen), which is seeing its first ever reissue, along with the Gojulas Cannon Set Customize Parts (4,800 Yen) and the Berserk Führer Repackage (8,800 yen). There are no physical differences between this Repackage and the last one released, but Kotobukiya decided to reissue it so soon because of how fast it sold out the last time. It will supposedly include some decals that were missed the last time, though.
As a final footnote, Kotobukiya mentioned that they'll soon be making more progress on the prototype (Wild Liger) displayed at Wonder Festival last month.
We have two new concept arts for Zoids Wild Zero. The first is Fiona's attendant, Gene Eleceene Lyney, who is played by Makiko Ohmoto, and the second is the Kuwaga's cockpit interior, which includes some B-Suit sketches. As a fun side note, Gene's name is spelled the same as Fiona's true name from Zoids Chaotic Century (which in Japanese, is Eleceene Lyney). In the dub, Fiona (Fine's) true name was pronounced as Elisia Linette. As gene works for Empress Fiona, it's a clear nod towards older fans.
