A while back I'd started a project to translate an earlier CoroCoro web article interview with Tokuyama, who has held a high position in staff throughout Zoids' history. With the anniversary, I thought it'd be a good time to start wrapping up that project. Part 3 is now available, with more in progress.
Scans have been added for CoroCoro's December 1999 and August 2000 issues. This includes a portion of the prototype Rev Raptor and Geno Saurer, though, unfortunately, my second-hand scans are missing one of the pages for the Rev Raptor.
The articles section has been updated with a large number of scans from 2020 ~ 2021, featuring some awesome diorama-style images of the Wild Zero Zoids. MiraCoro 2019 has also been added.
Part two of the interview with Tokuyama has been added to the articles section! You can view it here. As a refresher, this is an interview that was posted during the time that Zoids Wild was airing. It was posted in parts on CoroCoro's website, and included a lot of interesting details about Tokuyama's personal headcanons on the series, concept art of some of the Zoids, and more.
Partial scans have been added for the September and December 2002 issues of CoroCoro, as well as the January, February, and May 2005 issues. These were scanned from a lot of pre-cut pages obtained a while ago, so are missing some advertisements and the manga pages. These include some awesome Liger Zero Falcon, Energy Liger, Gairyuki, and Genesis dioramas. It really shines these Zoids in a whole new light! And I'm not just saying that because there's a Gairyuki below.
Xenorex is making a big appearance in CoroCoro! Not only is the Zoid itself striking a pose, but the December issue also discussed the upcoming Xeno Evolution S! The text seemed to imply that Xeno Evolutions may actually change size, not just armor. The issue also confirmed the spelling to be "Xenorex" all as one word, like Fangtiger.
A promotional image of the Xenorex that appears in CoroCoro has been posted by Zoids Official. New product images for the kit were exhibited on TakaraTomy Mall's page for the ZW49 Missile + Laser Combat Unit, and it was also featured in the video that showed off these parts. The video gives us a clear look at the Zoid as it looks unmodified, out of the box. You can see the pilot beneath the clear orange canopy, which is an interesting and different placement from the Burning Liger.
Xenorex Data: Length: 9.8 m
Height: 4.9 m
Width: 3.1 m
Weight: 45.0 tons
Maximum Speed: 200 km/h
Scheduled for a winter release
Connecting Radar (blue piece over canopy) Forced Cooling System (boxes on top of arms) Laser Bite Fangs (mouth) Protection Canopy (canopy) Multi Connector Unit (pegs on back) Multi Hands (hands) Reinforce Cylinders (legs) Smash Tail (tail) Strike Heavy Claws (feet) Zoid Factor Converter (Maybe vents on lower back? Not sure what it's pointing to)
The December issue of CoroCoro announced a brand new manga, Zoids Wild 2+! As Wild 2 ended just recently we had been wondering if there was going to be a follow up, and it seems there is! The issue showed off a color image of the main character, and we've also seen some sketches over on Moritya's twitter. For those who want to know how Zoids Wild 2 ended, you can pick up the book (Japanese version) over on AmazonJP.
CoroCoro has revealed the brand new rex-type Zoid, the Xenorex! Check out their blog for our first official peak at this Zoid. In the article, it's mentioned to be the new hero machine, implying that it'll be the protagonist of the new series, Zoids Wild Senki.
I've added months worth of scans to the CoroCoro Page. The September 2018 ~ August 2019 issues have been uploaded. I've also updated some of the earlier 2018 issues with cleaned up double page spreads, so no more hideous gutter lines going through the page. CoroCoro has tons of amazing diorama style images to check out!
CoroCoro Premier (Pal-Shop) has announced a Zoids Wild 2020 campaign, which will include a public sale for Liger The Arthur! Liger The Arthur is available through their online webstore for 3,910 yen. Some of you may remember the last CoroCoro Premier sale, which featured the Death Rex Purple Dragon Form for 8,250 yen. While that kit is still available, CoroCoro Premier is also offering a Zoids Wild Liger The Arthur + Death Rex Purple Dragon Form Special Set for 12,160 yen. So if you missed the Death Rex, and want to pick up both Zoids now, consider this set! The combined set will have free shipping, while the individual sales will not, so you can save 1380 yen by buying the set.
All of the above items are scheduled to start shipping out around late September. You'll need to use a deputy service, like From Japan, White Rabbit Express, etc. to purchase from this website.
Zoids Official posted a look at the full image of the new Liger, which appeared in CoroCoro. The scale of the Gilraptor being crushed in its jaws implies that the upcoming series will be returning to 1/72 scale, or very close to it.

An evil new Liger approaches!!! Ligers are the stars of "Zoids Wild", and the veil is finally lifted on their fourth generation!! Is this one seriously "evil"!?
This Liger's an enemy!!!? Generations of Ligers have fought for peace!! But the fourth generation... is a dark-side Zoid that fights for itself!!
Ferocious gimmicks made possible because it's evil!! A goody-two-shoes wouldn't be able to survive on the intensifying Zoid battlefield!! What are its overly ferocious weapon gimmicks, made possible because it's an evil enemy!?
And the new Liger - was born for you!!! More than anything else, the Liger is everyone's Zoid!! A joyous revolution breaks out so it can be delivered into your hands!!
Another series, Zo-Zo-Zo-Zombie-Kun has recently received a new toy series! In celebration CoroCoro Online did a collaboration article. A survival guide for how to deal with Zombie Zoids! In this article, the zombie-Zoid dubbed ZZ, created from a Beast Liger, rampages throughout a base! Since this is just a fun little one-off we decided to go ahead and include a rough google translation of it over in the books section.
CoroCoro posted an exciting article revealing the new liger. The article is vague but gives us an awesome look at its face.
It's finally time to unveil the fourth generation of the protagonist Liger machines of Zoids Wild!
However, something is wrong. This is different from the successive ligers who've fought for peace, with a confusing figure and atmosphere... Is this Liger an enemy!!!?
The information known at this time will be published in the September issue of CoroCoro!
September and December 2019 have been added to CoroCoro Comic. December includes some awesome images for Drei Panther and Genospino, while September includes images for Sniptera and Beast Liger ABU.
Liger The Arthur has been officially released! This kit saw some shipping delays as a result of the pandemic, so not all arrived at their destination on time. The kit came with additional instructions, with a few story and weapon notes. A special video for it was also posted on CoroCoro Channel, featuring a customized gold Arthur!
Azure Knight
A lion-type Zoid that has been modified from the Rising Liger, as a machine used by Arthur Lancelot. It specializes in charging attacks using the A-Z Arthur Lance equipped to its back. Each part, including the Arthur Armor and Arthur Frill, has had a special coating applied to reduce the damage from enemy attacks and improve its defensive power. Its Evo Blast, Gungnir, uses the penetrating power of the A-Z Arthur Lance and strikes at the enemy in a straight forward line. The special shape of the A-Z Arthur Lance also supports sweeping attacks.
Arthur Armor An armor with a special coating for increased durability. It has excellent stealth capabilities.
Arthur Frill Silver frills with a special coating that increases their durability. They also protect the rider.
Arthur Helm A special helmet that can intercept physical attacks from enemy Zoids. It's said that the dome on top of the head, used to protect the rider, expresses its loyalty to its rider.
A-Z Arthur Lance A high-penetration lance that can concentrate the force of impact onto a single point. With the edges protruding in all directions, it's also possible to land slashes on the enemy when swinging it downwards.
A-Z Machinegun An artificially-made machinegun. It can mow down small Zoids.
Claw Guard Armor that reduces the impact of the claws when they make contact with an enemy. By extending forward, it's also possible to land a strong impact pinpoint.
High-Performance Radiation Fins A part that instantly releases the heat accumulated in the body.
Impact Revolver A magazine that gives explosive power when using the A-Z Arthur Lance.
Rising Unit A back unit designed for arming and strengthening the Beast Liger.
Spear Tail Armor for the tail that is designed for physical attacks. The lighter weight makes it easier to swing around.
CoroCoro has posted a video going through the various Ligers released throughout the generations! They also show off Liger The Arthur, which looks amazing in the metallic silver. You can see the various armor additions, the Wild Blast, etc.
News on Liger The Arthur is ramping up! CoroCoro posted an article with some cool new images of the kit, and Zoids Official posted a spread from the recent issue of CoroCoro Comic! Liger the Arthur will be available as a mail-in purchase using the applicable postcard from CoroCoro Comic. It will cost 4,600 yen and will be limited to the first 12,000 orders.
So, what options are available to overseas users? While we've found one service willing to attempt the mail-in order, it would come at an additional $20 fee, and from what I can find most services that would try also have added fees. With mail already backing up on a global scale, the best bet for overseas buyers seems to be to wait for its release and use Yahoo Japan. The markup of such limited kits is usually around $10-$20 anyway, so you can avoid the hassle. Some services are offering extended warehouse storage due to these trying times, and if you use Celga, although it is manual and slower to purchase and get updates from, they have free unlimited storage. So you could have them hold your item indefinitely while we weather these difficult circumstances.
The August 2018 issue of CoroCoro Comic has been added to articles! I've decided to go ahead and start uploading the non-manga scans for the Zoids Wild time period of CoroCoro. These include some amazing diorama images for you to check out!
We've seen a bit more of Liger The Arthur! Aside from appearing in the BCH commercial (below), we also saw an article from CoroCoro, which showed a profile image and one of the new images from CoroCoro Comic. We're still waiting to hear more about the application process.
Interestingly, we received a couple of concept sketches from Moritya, the designer of the Arthur and the manga artist for Zoids Wild and Zoids Wild 2. He showed us 2 different concepts for potential ligers. Liger The Arthur was shown with a giant metallic silver lance ((Purification??) Gungnir), and matt dark blue armor. The second concept, Galaxy Liger, showed a Light Saber type Beam Sword, metallic silver equipment, clear light blue armor, red clear visor, and white matt secondary armor.
