- Ancient Zoidians
- Introduction
The Ancient Zoidians are a race of humanoids who existed long ago, but whose civilization was wiped out. Though they primarily featured in the Zoids anime their concept would resonate with many fans and official writers alike, resurfacing as a focal point in other stories. This article is currently focused on the anime perspective of Ancient Zoidians, but will be expanded later to include other media.

- Relationship With Organoids
The Ancient Zoidians were said to have a close relationship with the Zoid-like creatures they called Organoids. These Organoids were said to have been created to allow the Ancient Zoidians to pilot Zoids without using a cockpit. Every Ancient Zoidian had their own Organoid, who they traveled everywhere with.
[2] Such a description barely scratches the surface of what Organoids are capable of, however, able to augment a Zoid's abilities in incredible ways, sometimes even evolving them entirely. An Ancient Zoidian's connection to the Organoid is also almost spiritual in nature, able to communicate telepathically with them and command them from afar.
When the Ancient Zoidians were sealed their memories were said to have been stored in their Organoids. It's implied that when an Ancient Zoidian and their Organoid woke up and fused that the Organoid would restore the Zoidian's memories. This system wasn't perfect, however. It seems like it may have only been compatible with the Zoidian they were sealed with. When Sieg woke up, he fused to Bang first. Fine theorized this to be the reason for why she hadn't regained all her memories like she was supposed to, and it was apparent that none of her memories were imparted to Bang.
- Notable Details
- It's said that parts of Zi used to be much more lush in Ancient Zoidian times. Dr. D cited one case where an area that was now desert used to be covered in fields of flowers.
- The Death Saurer clone was said to only be prompted to wake up if it sensed an Ancient Zoidian.
- The Lightning Saix was created using research from an "Ancient Zoidian technology template".
- Lemuria Island was said to be the home of the Ancient Zoidians.
- Many of the ruins explored throughout the series are remnants of Ancient Zoidian times.
- While investigating the Garil Ruins it was said that there was no record as to how the Ancient Zoidians disappeared, but the Death Saurer seemed to be known by some researchers, such as Doctor D.
- Abilities Exhibited By Ancient Zoidians
- Keen sight, able to (at a glance) tell the exact thread count of a mistake in a weaving project. (Fine)
- The ability to 'pray' to call their Organoid, even waking them from states of unconsciousness. (Fine)
- Hearing water underground. (Fine)
- Smelling water even if it's too far away to see. (Fine)
- Projecting words or even images of themselves over great distances, such as expressing fear, calling for help, or even general communication. (Fine, Rease)
- Recovering memories by coming in contact with ancient artifacts and tablets. (Fine)
- Creating false thoughts in the minds of others, such as forcing them to imagine missing their attack. (Rease)
- An almost psychic sense of others, such as being able to detect dangerous Zoids (Fine), sensing that others are injured (Fine/Rease), etc.
- Being able to sense intent to some degree (such a sensing if a Zoid is 'evil', or sensing that Shadow was the one who called for a combat retreat.) (Fine)
- The ability to control Zoid Eve, though this seems heavily implied to be an ability specific to Fine and not other Ancient Zoidians.
- History
The Fall of the Ancient Zoidians, The Death Saurer
In ancient times, the Zoidian people used the power of the Zoid Eve to create countless Zoid cores. By harnessing the Zoids they created a world of limitless prosperity and potential. However, some Ancient Zoidians sought to use Zoids as weapons in their meaningless power struggles. The Zoids became so adept at combat that they were said to discover their true warrior nature and continued to fight even after they no longer had any objectives.
The Ancient Zoidians, seeking to put an end to this rampant destruction created the Death Saurer. This would be their greatest mistake. The Zoid, capable of destroying entire nations in a single night wiped out almost all civilization on Planet Zi. The end was a chaotic scramble for survival.
Some sought to destroy the Zoid Eve, knowing that it was the source of life for all Zoids on Planet Zi. However, they couldn't bring themselves to destroy the source of everything they'd built. In the end, the Zoid Eve was seemingly placed in a dormant state, generating enough power to keep the Zoids alive and thriving, but not exerting the incredible rejuvenating potential that it was capable of when awakened.
Others decided to put everything into destroying the creation that had run so wildly out of control. They modified two Zoids, creating the ultra-violent scorpion type Zoids that were said to have finally been able to contain the Death Saurer. It became entombed in a giant block, next to the Zoid Eve. However, the damage had already been done. Civilization as they knew it had ended. Those still alive, or at least some of them, were sealed in capsules alongside their Organoids, waiting for a day that civilization may rebound. Many of these capsules likely became lost to time in their ancient, decaying buildings.
Interim and Revival, Excavation By Humans
After the Ancient Zoidians were sealed away, the surface continued to crawl with Zoids, now uncontrolled by anyone. By the time the Earth immigration ship carrying humans arrived, the Ancient Zoidians had been gone for a long time. The ruins left behind showed that they'd once existed, but little was known about them. Over time, humans began excavating the ruins, learning what they could about the civilization that'd come before them. On occasion, they'd find a set of capsules, much like Fine and Sieg's, and wake them up. This was implied to be extraordinarily rare, however, judging by the fact that Organoids were at one point thought by some to be mere myth. In this way, some Ancient Zoidians survived until the modern day, in extremely few numbers.
