History

First Appearance, Episode 35

Hiltz first appeared in the Wind Colony, where he happened to run into Bang Freiheit, who didn't know who he was at the time. Soon after, a Stealth Viper attacked the colony. It'd already been responsible for attacking key military locations in both the Empire and the Republic, and as soon as Bang thought he'd defeated it, it fused with Hiltz's Organoid, Ambient. When the Zoid still lost, Ambient brought the pilot back to Hiltz, who disappointed in his failure, elected to throw him over a cliff, presumably killing him. During this period, it's presumed that Hiltz may also have been responsible for a gang near the border that was raiding nearby villages.

St. Konk, Episode 37

Hiltz watched over the battle at St. Konk. Though Rease was rather unphased by her loss, he warned her not to underestimate Bang Freiheit.

The Gigant Woods, Episode 39

Hiltz employed skilled Helcat pilots to attack any Zoids traveling through the Gigant Woods. This cut off a key route, which drew the attention of the Guardian Force. However, he didn't need the situation to remain stable for long. Just long enough to excavate ruins hidden deep within a cave there, where he discovered a large capsule containing the cores of the ancient scorpion-type Zoids that had taken down the Death Saurer in ancient times. At his guidance, Ambient fused to this chamber, evidently to fuse the two cores. By the time the Guardian Force arrived, whatever they'd been doing there had been concluded. The giant capsule was gone.

The Zoid Hunters, Episode 40

Ambient and Hiltz took out the engines of the Zoid Hunter's Whale King. Up until then the transporter had been used to carry out cruel experimentation on Zoid cores, all of which ended in the death of the cores. The intention had been to create a new type of terrifying Zoid. However, Hiltz deemed this a loose end, and once the group was discovered by the Guardian Force he made sure that the Whale King crashed, taking out all evidence of their operations.

Dragonhead Base Heist, Episode 45

Hiltz oversaw the mission in which Ralph and Mueller stole two in-development Storm Sworder Stealth units from Dragonhead Base. His Organoid even helped attack the soldiers holding them at gunpoint so that they could succeed in their mission.

Lemuria Island, Episode 46

Hiltz traveled to Lemuria Island with Rease to excavate part of the ruins during the eclipse. It's unclear what exactly was taken, but the ruins did reflect a similar scorpion tablet as earlier ones. Whatever was taken, he stated that it would allow them to truly begin their reign of terror.

Assassination Attempt, Episode 48

Hiltz snuck aboard the Presidential Hammer Head, commandeering the Zoid and shooting down the president's escort units. He then took her hostage. When Thoma came looking, Hiltz pretended to be injured in the desert. As soon as Thoma got out to investigate he landed a brutal punch to his stomach, knocking him unconscious. He tied Thoma up with the rest of the president's attendees and left them to die in the Presidential Hammer Head, which was rigged to explode. He then placed the president herself in the Dibison, now controlled by Ambient, and sent his Organoid to destroy the summit meeting location where she'd been intending to meet Emperor Rudolph. Though both attempts failed, with Bang saving Thoma and Irvine saving Rudolph, Hiltz merely found himself amused at how interesting they kept the battles.

Implications, Episode 50

While watching Raven's battle against Bang, Rease pointed out how unusual it was for the Geno Breaker to be red when the Saurer was purple. She strongly implied that Ambient had tampered with the core, and questioned what Hiltz's goal was. If he was more focused on Raven, or Bang. Hiltz simply said that he wanted the winner of the battle.

Targeting The Blade Liger, Episode 52

While Bang was running booster tests with his Blade Liger, Hiltz disguised himself as a maintenance worker and snuck into the hangar where the base kept its Gun Sniper WRRs. He used a remote control to activate their computers and send them into battle against the Blade Liger. They were quickly defeated, so he sent Ambient into the fight. His Organoid instantly evolved one of the Gun Snipers into the Toge Sniper, a crimson variant with spiked weaponry. Even that wasn't enough to defeat the Liger. This showed Hiltz that Bang had learned to unlock the full potential of his Organoid.

Targeting Dragonhead Base, Episode 54

Though this battle didn't take place on screen, Hiltz tried to crash a Whale King into Dragonhead Base, where the Guardian Force had gathered to discuss their enemies.

The Zi Foundation, Episode 55

Hiltz appeared once again at the Zi Foundation, watching its fall from the cliff tops. It's unclear if he had any direct involvement in the organization's illegal weapons production.

The Death Stinger, Episode 57

After reporting the Death Stinger's progress to the Dark Kaiser, Hiltz returned to his project. He waited until the Guardian Force arrived, having long anticipated that Fine would sense the powerful Zoid. He had a Hammer Kaiser on standby, prepared to evacuate, and as soon as the sea-scorpion woke up, he fired the massive particle cannon right over their heads. He ignored Fine, Moonbay, and Thoma who were present at the location and instead targeted Bang and Raven's ongoing battle far off in the distance, resulting in the death of Shadow.

Path Of Destruction, Episode 58

After the Death Stinger's awakening Hiltz used a high-altitude transport Zoid, the Whale Kaiser, to escape to 110,000 meters, beyond the reachable air space of either army. From there he fired the Death Stinger's particle cannon, destroying numerous locations across the continent including the denim region and the Ethan Mountain Base. The Guardian Force realized that he was targeting locations that they'd traveled along during their journey, as if making a mockery of all their progress.

They established a plan to equip two Storm Sworders with special rocket boosters that'd carry them to the high altitude of the Hammer Kaiser. These were a great success, but once they were there, Hiltz used electromagnetic jamming to hone their missiles onto a decoy target. The Hammer Kaiser survived until the Storm Sworders decided to bring the battle into close range, tearing massive wounds down the transporter's side. It crashed back to Zi, but in spite of all that work, the Death Stinger emerged from the crater unscathed.

Fall of New Helic City, Episode 59

Hiltz's next target was New Helic City. At first, the Republic planned to bomb the volcanic region it was traveling through to sink it into the magma below. However, Hiltz traveled to one of these tunnels himself, proving just how hard the Death Stinger was to kill.

During the Republic's meeting about how to handle things from there, Hiltz projected a hologram of himself into the room. He expressed that everything he was doing was simply because he felt that the strong were the only ones who had any right to survive, and that he fully intended to weed out the weak.

When he next emerged it was inside New Helic City, flooding the streets with lava. There he began taking on the various Zoids of the Guardian Force, easily disabling Thoma and Irvine's Zoids by flinging them into nearby buildings. He met some resistance when Hermann, piloting a Shield Liger, used its energy shield to short-circuit the one on the Death Stinger. Schwarz immediately followed up with a round of gatling fire, but Hiltz caught him mid air and for all their efforts, seemed to take no damage. When the defense forces finally arrived it was an absolute slaughter, littering New Helic with the bodies of Zoids who tried to stand up against the Death Stinger. Once New Helic was evacuated, the Republic called for it to be abandoned.

The Ultra Saurus, Episode 60

After the fall of New Helic City both militaries withdrew to Wendeen Lake, the resting site of a massive Zoid that was supposed to be their last resort. Hiltz had little interest in waiting for the giant to wake up. He sent an army of Helcats to bog them down, then began firing his particle cannon through the mountains. This cut the Death Stinger's travel time from three hours to thirty minutes, compared to the Ultra's two hours required for awakening. In spite of these efforts his final particle blast missed, and the Ultra escaped across the ocean.

Sea Battle, Episode 61

The Ultra may have escaped, but Hiltz didn't intend to let them get far. He sent an army of Sinkers ahead of him, which engaged the Ultra in battle and slowed it down. Once the amphibious Death Stinger caught up, he began ripping through the armor, only to be caught by surprise when the Ultra dropped depth charges into the methane ice fields below, setting off a series of violent eruptions. He was dislodged from its armor and unable to catch up in a timely manner.

Gravity Cannon Test, Episode 62

As soon as the two armies tested the Gravity Cannon Hiltz was alerted about their location. He sent an army of Sinkers to attack the Ultra, but they failed to destroy it.

Rampage, Episode 63

Antagonistic as always, Hiltz decided to divert his attention to once again targeting locations along their journey. He first surfaced in the Sand Colony, then moved to Mt. Iselina, where he began firing on the village. Thankfully most of the inhabitants had already escaped. He then visited a prison where many of the criminals arrested throughout their journey had been sent. Stinger and the Crossbow brothers tried to stand up against him, and were allegedly killed by a shot from the particle cannon.

At the Garil Plateau he finally ran into some solid resistance in the form of the Guardian Force. He faced the Delta Formation used against the Geno Breaker, only this time used to establish a massive energy shield to trap the Death Stinger. On their first attempt he simply shattered it with the blades. He recognized the incoming threat of the Gravity Cannon and shot down the second of the only three shells they'd been able to make. Their second attempt had much more power dedicated to the shields, and this time he found himself properly trapped. The resulting gravity field from the third shell crushed the Death Stinger, rapidly destroying its armor. In a final act of pettiness he fired one last shot, striking Thoma's Dibison and disabling it directly in front of the rapidly-expanding field.

Revival, Episode 64

The damage received from the Gravity Cannon was fatal to the Death Stinger. Its entire body began turning to stone, and had it not been for Ambient reviving it, the Death Stinger would've died then and there. Hiltz wasted no time in disabling their largest threat, the Ultra Saurus. With it toppled, the hangar doors were blocked, meaning it couldn't mobilize its army. This was an important first act as the Death Stinger was still heavily damaged. It was missing limbs and couldn't use its energy shield.

The disabling of the Ultra Saurus left just Bang and Irvine to chase after him, followed behind by the Dibison. He snared Irvine's Lightning Saix only to have the claws bombarded by the Blade Liger. Soon after, he got ahold of both cats. This attempt was also thwarted when Thoma and his Dibison rolled up with a hail of support fire. Taking extensive damage, Hiltz opted to target the Gustav hauling the injured Dibison, which just so happened to be piloted by Fine. He landed a direct hit, and with the Zoids distracted, something strange happened to the Death Stinger. It began to glow with white light, dissolving into particles. Both Hiltz and his Zoid, and even Fine vanished before they could be fully destroyed.

Blade Liger Battle, Episode 65 ~ 66

Hiltz surfaced to cut off Bang's route to Eveopolis. He immediately fired the particle cannon, wiping out the horde of Zoids chasing after him, under the effect of the Rare Hertz. Though he broke his particle cannon in the process he felt perfectly comfortable fighting the Blade Liger, and even baffled when Bang sent his Organoid away. Yet, in seconds, the Blade Liger was on him. It cut through the Death Stinger's blade and circled around for another attack. With the slow speed of the Death Stinger, Hiltz realized he couldn't turn in time. Panic set in and he called for Ambient, who restored the Stinger to its full condition, including restoring the just-destroyed particle cannon. He was confident that it'd be enough to hold him over until Zoid Eve awakened.

Their battle lasted until well into the next day. The Death Stinger lost one of its larger claws to the E-Shield and Hiltz just couldn't understand where Bang was getting all of his power from. When the Zoid Eve began to awaken, the Death Stinger underwent a strange change. Golden light pulsed all across its body, and the core began to expand, absorbing Ambient. As it continued to expand it even absorbed Hiltz himself. He gladly gave himself over to it, and even lost all concern with his battle against Bang, deeming it irrelevant. The second his Death Stinger stopped glowing, he dug into the dirt.

True Purpose, Episode 66

Hiltz arrived in Eveopolis just in time to throw the Blade Liger back from its attack against the Dark Kaiser. However, when the Death Stinger was ordered to offer itself up to the Death Saurer, Hiltz made a startling speech. He explained that Prozen was merely a host body chosen to protect the Death Saurer's core. As the core began to expand, engulfing what remained of Prozen, the Dark Kaiser swore that he was the Death Saurer himself, only for Hiltz to mock this belief. He argued that the Death Saurer could only be controlled by an Ancient Zoidian such as himself. The core containing Hiltz ripped its way out of the Death Stinger's body, unaffected by the lasers fired at it from Bang's Blade Liger. It absorbed the Death Saurer's core and entered the body of the sealed machine, unleashing the ancient Death Saurer on the world once again.

The Ultimate Death Saurer, Episode 66 ~ 67

With Hiltz now controlling the ultimate Death Saurer he began his march through Eveopolis. He was quick to notice the Ultra Saurus moving within firing range and landed a single particle blast against its leg, nearly toppling the Zoid. This wasn't enough to stop the Gravity Cannon, but although it formed its gravity field around the Death Saurer, he suppressed the hyper gravity. It instead became a lens through which he could fire the particle cannon, dividing it into numerous beams across the planet. The Death Saurer at this point seemed immune to all weaponry, and marched through enemy Zoids with little regard.

Bang and Raven continued to take up the fight, and Hiltz revealed that he'd only allowed them to survive as long as he had so that he could absorb their power when he needed it the most. He opened up the chest of the Death Saurer and tried to suck them into the core, stopped only when a pulse created by the Zoid Eve flung them away.

Fine, devastated by the damage unfolding before her appealed to Hiltz, insisting that he was under the influence of the Death Saurer's evil spirit. He balked at these claims. To Hiltz, the spirit of the Death Saurer was just another weapon to draw upon, aiding in his goal of ultimate destruction. He refused to be compared to Prozen, who he deemed a genuine pawn. Fine argued that he'd never find peace on this path of destruction, that he as an Ancient Zoidian of his intelligence should learn from the past. He countered that the only mistake in the past was in not finishing the job. He believed that as Ancient Zoidians, they had gained overwhelming power, and fully intended to use it to wipe out all civilization on Planet Zi, and to even rule all of space itself.

He was disgusted when Fine actually started the process of shutting down the Zoid Eve, and swore to wipe out all life on Planet Zi. While charging up again he was faced by Raven and his Geno Breaker. Though the particle blast dissolved against the E-Shield at first, Shadow's fusion increased its power to the point of breaking through. This gave Bang the target he needed. The Blade Liger was launched from the Gravity Cannon, using its particle neutralizing shield and blade combo to cut through Hiltz's particle beam. Hiltz was struck head on, the Blade Liger puncturing through the Death Saurer's chest and core. It collapsed, and what was left of the Death Saurer sank beneath the sands with the rest of Eveopolis.
