- Episode 4: The Protectors
Characters: Van, Fiona, Irvine
Zoids: Shield Liger, Zeke, Command Wolf IT
In the middle of the desert, Van has woken up to find that Fiona has let all of their water pour out onto the ground. The protein mix that Van had put into it gave the water a strange smell, which the Ancient Zoidian girl picked up on, and thought that it was bad. In spite of Van's minor fits, Fiona leads them to a fresh water Oasis, outside of an unnamed Desert Colony.
When they arrive, they find Irvine and his Command Wolf. Even though they expected a fight, Irvine is at the Colony to protect it from bandits said to appear on specific days to take from the citizens. It's not long before they show up, and Van sees that the bandits are the Desert Alcabalino Gang, who have already noticed Zeke's presence as well.
Severely outnumbered, Van is shocked to see Irvine flee from the battle into a narrow canyon along the Colony. Using the force of the aquifers beneath the ground, Van manages to down both enemy Command Wolves, and is rescued by a single Gun Shot from the Command Wolf IT, taking out the last Zoid, the Red Horn.
Irvine swears to steal Zeke someday, but leaves Van and Fiona in peace.
