- Episode 17: The Longest Night of the Republic

    Herman's Pteras Unit has not returned after investigating the ice bergs. O'connel is furious when he's denied the right to form a search party many times, and takes the alternative route of hiring Moonbay and the others to steal a Pteras and go in search. They head out, get ahold of a Pteras, and part ways. To make sure that they can find their way back through a jamming snow Irvine outfits his Command Wolf with a flashing red beacon.

    In a strange turn of events, Dr. D pulls Herman and his men out of the ocean on a fishing line. Just in time, Van and Irvine show up. After Herman warns them that they must alert the forces at Mount Osa about the oncoming invasion Irvine disappears to go to the battle field. Van takes Herman to another base, but finds it in a ball of fire -- Raven and his Zaber Fang have found the base first, and as they exit the flames, he challenges Van to a battle.

    Moonbay finds O'connel, who asks that they go to Mount Osa and let Krueger know what's going on. They depart to do just that. Irvine has already appeared on the battle field and informs the Gojulas pilot that there is a coming invasion, and that he must return to New Helic City. On all fronts, commands are given to abandon Mount Osa Base. In place of it, they will trigger the active volcano into an eruption, destroying all Imperial forces that choose to stay there.

    The battle between Van and Raven continues. With tips from Rob Herman, Van effectively predicts and counters the moves of the Zaber Fang. An infuriated Raven prepares to find to the end, yet his ambitions are disregarded by gunfire of the Imperial forces. Van takes his chance to flee the battle, being on the winning side of the scale anyway. Raven screams for him to come back and fight as the episode ends.
