The Imperial Army is steadily making progress towards the Republic, but Schubaltz and Marcus find that it's taking far longer than they had anticipated. The debris from the fall of Chrono Fortress have blocked their way, setting them back by days. Schubaltz reminds Marcus not to under estimate his enemies, reassuring him that this was all a part of the Republic's defense plan.

Meanwhile, even though Zeke has managed to survive thanks to the Zoid Magnite, Dr. D informs Van that he really can't go anywhere for a while. He's weak, and needs time to heal. Van decides to take his mind off of the situation by doing some work around their shelter; repairing the roof and what not.

Irvine has either abandoned the Spear Missile set or returned it to Mount Osa Base, but he's sneaking around like he certainly doesn't belong there. While searching for some new fire power that'll give him another chance against the Red Zaber Fang he stumbles across a massive beast -- the Gojulas! In awe at the sheer size of the Zoid, he fails to notice Krueger- who asks him why he pilots Zoids, and feeling inspired, gives his own speech.

"I have been piloting Zoids in battle for many years now, and sometimes you get a little jaded. You lose sight of the real reason that made you want to become a pilot in the first place. Zoids can sense our feelings and emotions, and use them to enhance their own capabilities. Once we as pilots recognize that, the possibilities are endless. That's what makes it exciting, and yet, in the heat of battle we often forget the real reason why we're there; why we became a pilot at all."

Krueger's speech is cut short by a blast from Imperial Zoids throwing him from his perch. Injured, he informs Irvine that what he really wants is for Irvine to be the pilot that deploys the "ZG". Herman shows up a second too late to hear those words, and when Irvine requests to be the one moving out, Herman scoffs at the idea and takes the Gojulas. On the battle field, Imperial Zoids are rapidly overwhelmed by the fire power and without wasting any time second guessing it, Schubaltz orders a retreat of all of his soldiers. He ignores Marcus' anger over the decision and reminds him to mind his place. Even as they retreat Herman tries to run them down, but manages to topple the Gojulas the very second it steps off of the platform.

Within the base, Irvine had nearly fallen to the same fate as Krueger: Being thrown from a ledge by the Imperial gun fire. He manages to survive just as Van and the Shield Liger show up to capture him -- revealing that Van can use the Energy Shield without Zeke's help! This indicates that the Shield Liger has finally recovered enough to be on par with its Shiedly brethren.
