Introduction

Dr. D is an incredible scientist who seems to have worked with both the Republic and the Empire, making him invaluable to both sides and giving him a great number of connections. That aside, he's often a comic relief character, or leans into the perverted old man stereotype, groping women when they aren't expecting it.

Items

 Frog Mask

A clever disguise used to move around without being recognized.

 Frog Balloon

Dr. D also has a hot air balloon styled after a frog, which he used as a decoy to distract Republican soldiers while escaping through the sewers.

 Protective Suit

Dr. D used this protective bullet-proof suit to enter the vortex of light and investigate what was happening to the Shield Liger. Though he never expressed exactly what he saw in there, he believed that Sieg was trying to resurrect the deceased Zoid. The suit, aside from protecting the person within is also greatly augmented, allowing them to lift many times their own weight (allowing Dr. D to carry both Moonbay and Irvine.) Unfortunately it does still run out of steam after a period of time. It also has rocket fists that can be launched at would-be attackers, remaining attached to the suit via cable.

History

First Appearance, Episode 10

Dr. D was first discovered frozen in a block of ice in his cabin. They hoped that he might help them learn more about Zoid Eve. When he thawed, however, he asked them to complete a series of ridiculous chores. He stole Irvine's Command Wolf for a joy ride, had them (unknowingly) rob a Helic storage facility, etc. All to get parts for his project, to create a missile that could create artificial snow, which he hadn't seen in those mountains since he was a boy.

Later on, one of the sleeper Guysacks from the base followed him and attacked, setting the cabin ablaze. They were able to put the fire out but much of the home and his work was destroyed. The group worked together to help him get it all back together, and for a moment it even seemed that the missile fired had worked. It snowed on the mountain, for the first time in decades. As it'd turn out, the missile had been a misfire, landing in the forest undetonated. He wasn't made aware of this, however.

Saving Sieg, Episode 14

The group ran into Dr. D again at an abandoned city, the residents having already fled the approaching Empire. When he examined Sieg, who was injured in the battle against Raven, he noted that he wouldn't survive if he didn't get Zoid Magnite by sunset. While Bang and Moonbay rushed off to find some, Irvine set out in search of Raven. Dr. D knew he'd be fighting an uphill battle. After a ski accident Dr. D had a broken leg and couldn't help, but directed Irvine to go to a nearby base, drop his name, and ask to test the equipment there. This allowed Irvine to get the Command Wolf SM upgrade.

Retreat, Episode 15

After Dr. D stayed to help Sieg, he opted to leave the area with or without the main group. He didn't want to be caught up in another war.

Evasion, Episode 16

After Bang and the others were almost arrested for helping a prisoner escape, Dr. D showed up to help them escape through the sewers to the National Ancient Studies Research Institute. Sadly, they were thrown in jail anyway. The president herself came to investigate after hearing that they had a letter from her son, Rob. She recognized Dr. D immediately and had them released. Though Dr. D was asked to return to the Republic, he refused, having had enough of war. After the escaped prisoner then stole a Command Wolf and attacked the city, later being confronted by and once again let go by a distraught Bang, Dr. D insisted that a life was a life, and that no matter what happened, Bang had done the right thing by saving the young man.

Fishing, Episode 17

While spending some time relaxing in New Helic City, Dr. D fished Rob Hermann and his crew out of the ocean. They'd been shot down while investigating mysterious icebergs, and jamming snow was preventing them from making contact.

The Geno Saurer, Episode 22

Dr. D was following the tracks of the Geno Saurer through the desert when Bang's group stumbled across him. He'd never seen tracks like them before, and when Irvine showed him images of the carvings from the Garil ruins, Dr. D recognized the Death Saurer immediately. However, he wasn't so sure that Raven's Zoid was it. Nevertheless, Dr. D urged Bang not to fight it, warning him that if the Shield Liger's core was damaged that it'd never be able to wake up again. Unfortunately Raven forced his hand when he kidnapped Rudolph, prompting a battle that ended in the Shield Liger's death.

Investigation, Episode 24 ~ 25

Dr. D used a special suit to investigate the vortex of light that'd engulfed the Shield Liger. He assessed that Fine and Sieg may be trying to resurrect the Zoid, but couldn't prove it. Later on, when the group was held hostage by Stinger and Metternich, Dr. D emerged from the light and used the rocket fists of his suit to knock them out. The suit was augmented enough for him to pick up the paralyzed members of the group and flee. When they witnessed Bang's new Zoid, it was actually Dr. D that coined the term "Blade Liger."

Ancient Memories, Episode 26

Dr. D spoke with Fine and expressed that, to him, the only part about the Shield Liger's evolution that was surprising was just how fast it'd occurred, even with an Organoid. He mentioned how that area of the desert used to have fields as far as the eye could see, and when she got excited, telling him about the yellow flowers Dr. D explained that she may actually be an Ancient Zoidian. Though they didn't know much about their people, he recalled old legends that when the Ancient Zoidians went into their long sleep that their memories were sealed inside of the Organoids. He believed Fine had regained hers during her long fusion to the Shield Liger with Sieg. Yet, because Sieg fused with Bang first, it interfered with her ability to completely remember everything. While this conversation was enlightening, Dr. D suggested that perhaps it wasn't the best time to ask Bang about it all.

The Storm Sworders, Episode 29

Following the fight against the Geno Saurer, it seems Dr. D and the Republic worked to save Rosso and Viola. Once they were restored to health, he and Hermann both vouched for them to become the test pilots for the new Storm Sworders, the most advanced air combat Zoids at the time. Part way through the test flight they faked communications issues and flew into imperial air space to save the crowned prince, Rudolph, who was being targeted by Prozen loyalists. Dr. D himself seemed rather amused, perfectly okay with this decision.

The Death Saurer Battle, Episode 34

During Prozen's rebellion, Dr. D, who was traveling in the Gustav with Moonbay at the time, observed that the Death Saurer had no weak points. Their only choice would be to hit the Zoid Core and assessed its position from the heavy armor over that area.

Guardian Force

Research, Episode 35

After the end of the battle of Guygalos, Dr. D began traveling with Fine, investigating ancient ruins in their search for Zoid Eve. They hadn't managed to find any leads, and while traveling, Dr. D fell ill. Their Gustav was attacked by a Stealth Viper and after finding them Bang took them back to the Wind Colony, where Dr. D could recover.

Upgrading The Blade Liger, Episode 44

After hearing about Raven's return, Dr. D dropped back in. Knowing the Blade Liger had faced numerous particle cannons in the past, and likely would again, he helped to upgrade its energy shield to work better with the particle-neutralization of the blades. These efforts were successful, surviving a particle beam in live combat testing. Yet, he hadn't anticipate Raven combining the Pulse Laser Guns with the particle beam. The shield was eventually overwhelmed, and the Liger defeated, but thankfully Raven left the field before any lives were claimed.

Lemuria Island, Episode 46

Dr. D set up a research station on Lemuria Island, intent on studying the Ancient Zoidian city that had sunk beneath the waves. Ever since he was young he'd wanted to know the secrets that the past could teach them about the present. He focused mostly on Ancient Zoidians. As a child, he'd discovered an ancient prophecy carved into a pillar that stated the door would open when the two lights in the sky became one. He was convinced this was important, and that it referred to the two moons eclipsing each other every 60 years.

He was correct. The region developed enormous whirlpools from the unusual tidal currents created during this eclipse, dropping the water level for a short time and revealing the city. A battle erupted between Bang and Rease, slightly delaying their research into the city, but they still arrived soon enough to see the ruins, including a broken tablet depicting the ancient scorpion Zoids.

The Lightning Saix, Episode 48

Dr. D had been in the process of developing the Lightning Saix for the Empire using research from an Ancient Zoidian technology template. The result was a machine so fast that they had to build restraint armor to protect the pilot. Even so, Dr. D was forced to eject the pilot to save their life when they still lost consciousness during the test drive. Though the body of the Saix survived, the memory banks were damaged. It'd taken three months to program them the first time. While this was going on, Irvine's Command Wolf had received fatal damage in the battle against Raven. The Command Wolf was going to die. Dr. D offered to transplant the Command Wolf's combat data into the Saix, giving it a chance to live on. Irvine was furious, not wanting Dr. D to experiment on his dying Zoid, but eventually relented in hopes that some part of it could survive.

Soon after the transplant they received word that Emperor Rudolph was under attack, and the Saix was the closest Zoid to his location. Irvine decided to mobilize against Dr. D's advice, and was able to defeat the enemy unit. With such good results, Dr. D simply let Irvine keep the Lightning Saix.

Boosters, Episode 52

When Bang's skills as a pilot outpaced the capabilities of his Zoid Dr. D offered to let him use some of his prototype boosters. He wasn't quick to jump on the opportunity, and some of the boosters turned out to have rather catastrophic issues. In the end, the Liger was equipped with the Attack Boosters. Though it kept them for the fight and they seemed quite effective they were discarded afterwards, only brought back once or twice after.

Engine Liberation, Episode 53

Since Moonbay decided to enter the Guylos Grand Prix, a Sinker racing event, Dr. D 'borrowed' an engine from the military to make up for 'the gold watch he never got.' He was banking on her winning, but when she actually placed second he immediately turned the blame for the stolen engine onto her and Irvine.

The Gravity Cannon Shell, Episode 61

Dr. D showed Emperor Rudolph their progress of the Gravity Cannon shells and explained that due to their complexity they'd only been able to manufacture three. When the base was attacked by Hiltz's forces and for a moment they were certain they'd need to abandon the base. Thankfully, Rosso and Viola showed up and gunned down the attacking Zoids.

Not-So-Pleasant Nap, Episode 62

Dr. D was enjoying a nice little nap in his boat when the Ultra Saurus arrived early, nearly capsizing his vessel. Even so, he went on to the control room, where he explained in great detail how the Gravity Cannon functioned. Effectively, by creating a black hole. Unfortunately, his wisdom was lost on some of the not-so-sharp individuals hearing the lecture.

The Injured Death Stinger, Episode 64

When the recently-revived Death Stinger took out the ground beneath the Ultra Saurus Dr. D fell and hit his head. For a moment he was knocked out cold, but as soon as he woke he insisted that they follow the Death Stinger. He explained that it wasn't yet back to full strength, and without its energy shield even conventional weapons would now work on it. They had to destroy it before it regained its borderline-invincibility.

Gravity Cannon Shell, Episode 66 ~ 67

During the Ultra's long march to the Valley of the Rare Hertz Dr. D was focused on developing another shell for the Gravity Cannon. When O'Connell reported back about an insane, unexplainable energy source from Eveopolis, Dr. D explained that it must be from Zoid Eve, the fundamental source of energy for all Zoids.

As they reached Eveopolis Dr. D finished the singular shell, allowing the Ultra Saurus to fire the Gravity Cannon once more. However, it was compressed by the Death Saurer, used to create a lens through which it could fire and divide its particle beams across the planet. When Bang later requested to be fired out of the Gravity Cannon Dr. D deemed the plan brilliant, claiming it may allow the Blade Liger to puncture the Death Saurers armor. Even so, it carried the risk of destroying them both if they couldn't break through.
