AD2002 ZOIDS NEXT STAGE
- The New Zoids World
More than two years have passed since the re-release of ZOIDS in the fall of 1999. How will things develop in the future? Let's report on the 2002 development plan, product lineup, and the latest research situation!
To a higher level!
The Various Zoids Mechanisms Continue To Evolve!
Birth of the EZ-060 Dark Spiner!
The Zoids toyline was first introduced to the market in 1983. Although there was a 10-year hiatus in the middle of Zoids' history, the longevity of the product is still astonishing. The fact that the popular Zoids of previous series have been accepted by a new generation of users without any sense of discomfort shows just how highly accomplished a product they were.
However, the developers of the new series are constantly searching for new Zoids. This is because they understand precisely that creating more realistic and fresh gimmicks is the lifeblood of Zoids. As a result, the Liger Zero's CAS units were born, and the bold variable mechanisms of the Berserk Führer were realized.
Then came February 2002. A new Zoid debuted with even more advanced gimmicks. Its name was the EZ-060 Dark Spiner. The dynamic transformation mechanism and the interlocking gimmick of the dorsal fins that can move in both forms will surely convince Zoids users.

Normal Mode
Normal mode while walking. In addition to the usual gimmicks of moving arms, legs, mouth, and tail, each dorsal fin moves slowly from side to side. |
Jamming Mode
Battle form with a large forward tilt. The interlocking points of the limbs are detached, and only the legs, tail, and dorsal fins move. |
- New Possbilities Hidden in SS (Super Small) Zoids!
The Tomy Development Team, who knows that gimmicks, especially walking gimmicks, are a big personality point of Zoids, dared to add SS Zoids to their product lineup starting in 2001. They're the first 1/72 scale Zoids without a power unit.
Why were non-motorized Zoids created? There are several reasons. First, the elimination of restrictions for the power unit broadens the range of motifs (the Demantis is a good example.) Second, built-in gimmicks could be enhanced. Third, by lowering costs, we can offer low-priced products to new, younger users.
Enhancing the lineup and gimmicks, expanding the world view and the fan base. SS Zoids are test mechas with the potential to expand the Zoids World in every sense.

You can easily change the pose and remodel them by changing parts, so even younger people can enjoy playing with them. |

- A Fusion of Old and New Zoids Freaks!
Gil Vader: A giant flying Zoid of the Imperial Army that far exceeds the combat power of the Death Saurer. Is the fact that it's too powerful a bottleneck in commercialization?
For Zoids Fans from the old series, reprinting kits that are currently out of print has remained a sincere wish. Of course, Tomy was well aware of their wishes, and has added many old Zoids to its lineup. However, there are still many Zoids that haven't been re-released that can stand the test of time, even for new users. Although the commercialization of these Zoids is still undecided, we'd like to introduce some of the Zoids that have been highly requested for reprinting.

- Rapid Scoop!
Zoids' Iconic Mecha 'Gojulas' Revival Plan!
Gojulas, the hero mecha of the old wars. It tends to be overshadowed by the strength of newer Zoids in the Battle Story, but it has finally been decided that it'll be renewed. It's said that it'll will exhibit unbelievably realistic movements.
