"Keep an eye on Ray. Is there a problem? There is. The results of the battle were perfect. But how it was fought, I wouldn't call it brave. More like, he's just looking for a place to die."
(From a private conversation with Lieutenant Colonel Ceres Ardoise, Captain of the 1st Battalion of the Republic's Ray Force.) |
Once they had received the Ultra's report, the Republic Command sent a landing party through the Triangle Daras corridor.
|
It was about two weeks after the Battle of Andar Sea. Finally, the forces of the Helic Republic were beginning their landing operations on the Dark Continent of Nyx. The Pteras, which had taken off from the Ultra Saurus, reported the information they had gathered on the Triangle Daras corridor back to Nixie Base. By using this corridor as a route for their transport fleet, the Republic's forces were able to approach Nixie coast without being noticed by the Imperial fleet.
The landing forces were spearheaded by the Ray Force. The morning glow of the Dark Continent's Entrance Bay echoed with the sound of gunfire from the transport

carrier, Hover Cargos, Panzers, and Command Wolf ACs. Countless shells rained down on the heads of the Imperial Guard.
"Good. Land forces, move out!"
Amidst the rain of support fire, Schneiders, Jagers, and Shadow Foxes launched one after another. They rushed into the enemy lines.
Ray Gregg, who was piloting a white Zero in its basic form, was also part of this land battle unit. He was ahead of all of his allies, and jumped into the strongest part of the enemy's firepower. It was as if he was throwing himself into a fight to the death. No pilot, no matter how brave, could keep up with Ray. Inevitably, he had to fight alone. He was grateful for that. He no longer wanted to see his

friends dying for his sake. He was also impatient. Ultra had witnessed the Eisen Dragoon unit. He had a feeling that the unknown Zoid there was the experimental tyrannosaurus-type machine.
—The day that we'll meet again is near.
This premonition distracted Ray.
There was no way that the Imperial Guard, which was still recovering from the Eisen Dragoon's attack, would be able to defend against the Ray Force's onslaught. After only half a day of fighting, Entrance Bay had fallen into the hands of the Republican forces.
- Arrival!! The Strongest Phantom Corps!! (2)
It was Ray's Liger Zero that took the lead in the Ray Force's rapid march.
| |
The Schneider's blades tore through the Saber's armor like it was paper.
|
No enemy Zoids could match the speed and mobility of the Jagers.
| |
Under the concentrated fire of the Panzer troops, the entire defensive line was obliterated.
|
The main forces of the Republican Army landed in Entrance Bay one after another. Seeing this, the Ray Force immediately began to march deep into Nyx. With blitzkrieg speed, they moved in behind the Imperial Forces in order to encircle and annihilate the enemies who would be fighting head-on with their main forces.
The advance was going well. There were no enemy Zoids that could compete with Zero's speed and CAS units. However, the fact that things were going so well made the division headquarters uneasy. Their enemies were too fragile. Rather than encircling them, it seemed as if they might be able to rush straight into the Imperial capital, Valhalla.
An unknown Zoid that even the Genocide Dragon, the Geno Saurer, was no problem for. Was it the finished product of the experimental tyranno-type machine?
|
— Is there some ulterior motive?
All Shadow Foxes had been deployed. Their mission was to find out the enemy's true intentions. The most advanced stealth machines scattered in all directions. Eventually, one of them spotted something incredible at an enemy base standing in the Ray Force's planned path. It was a battle between Zoids wearing the Imperial emblem. No, they wouldn't call it a battle. It was a one-sided slaughter. An unknown Zoid unit, with no data to support it, was trampling the base's defending units with overwhelming force.
Was this the Eisen Dragoon unit?
The mysterious Zoid unit calmly departed. The Shadow Fox secretly followed. Before long, an eerie base appeared in front of them.
A secret base was discovered in a volcanic area that no one had ever set foot in. The Shadow Fox immediately reported this to the division headquarters.
