- Zoids Field of Rebellion: Game Guide


    On this page we're going to walk you through some of the basic gameplay for Zoids: Field of Rebellion. To start things off, you can use Bluestacks to play the game. There are also a number of VPN services that can change the location of your tablet, without having to use a third party service to install the game, but these can occasionally affect performance. Referring to the US often works when placing your tablet in Japan does not.

- Entering Battle


    There are roughly 3 types of battles. VS Mode, Co-Op, and Training. When you click battle, you can choose between them. Most of this section will be covering VS Mode, but we'll include a bit about the other two modes. Typically speaking, VS Mode is the PVP Battle where you'll earn metal, gold, etc. On the second screen you can choose your Pilot, Zoid, and Large Zoid.



    In VS Mode there are two main types, League Points and Friend Battles. Friend battles do not increase LP, but allow you to match with people on your friends list (and people on theirs.) The battle stage is randomized, so you can fight in fields not currently available, and you can select between 2 & 4 players. Teams are still randomly chosen between friends.

    In League Point battles, your LP increases or decreases with each win or loss. You also gain a decent amount of metal, and win containers.

- Battle: VS Mode

    In VS Mode two teams, consisting of 4 pilots each are pitted against each other with the goal to destroy the enemy base. You can go through this a number of ways, and must coordinate with your team to pull off a victory. This is by far the more popular battle mode. Whether you end up Imperial (Red) or Republican (Blue) is random.

Determining A Winner:
    Victory is based on who destroys the opponent's base first. You can even bypass the small manufacturing plants to destroy the enemy base directly, assuming you don't get caught. However, if the timer runs out and neither base is destroyed, it'll follow this list to determine the winner.

    - If neither base is destroyed, the one with the most small bases left is the victor.
    - If theres an equal number of small bases, the one with the most enemy kills wins.
    - If each team has defeated the same number of Zoids, it is a draw, and both receive losing rewards.
    - If you receive a draw, you won't lose LP. In fact, you may still gain LP if you have good personal scores.






Combat in Vs Mode:
    Vs Mode has a few things going on, but it's important to note that the general combat interface is mostly the same for all modes. So let's start with the basics, what the different icons and all that do.

     1). Kill Count:
    Every time you shoot down an enemy Zoid, you'll receive a dot on your teams kill count. There are 10 dots per table, and once you hit 11, there'll be a number beside it. So a 1, + 7 dots, will mean that your team has 17 kills. Never give the enemy a free kill if it can possibly be helped.


     2). Small Zoid Production Bases:
    These bases produce 3 small Zoids at a time. The small Zoids are invincible until they actually get into formation and move out. This is an important factor, because small Zoids do an enormous amount of damage if they can actually reach a base, be it small bases or headquarters. Your bases are on the left side, enemy bases on the right. Each standing base is white, and each destroyed base is grayed out.

    Typically, the first thing you'll do in any battle is head for the right base to destroy it. If you're in a destroyer, you can also head to the left, hassling the enemy zoids to slow down the destruction of your bases. Be sure to use the base as a shield, however. Tackling 3-4 Zoids at once is sure to kill you if you don't play smart.

    Notes about bases:
    - The lower the base HP, the less damage your weapons will do to it.
    - It's best to destroy the middle base last, as it gives large Zoids the most direct access to your headquarters.
    - Weapons that do damage to bases include: Shelling weapons, airborne missiles, and proximity (melee) weapons.
    - Weapons that DON'T do damage to bases: Red weapons, automatic (vulcans, gats, etc.) and EN weapons.


    3). Battle Timer:
    Vs. Mode battles have 10 minutes, and Co Op usually have 5-8 minutes. The rare 2 vs. 2 VS Mode battle also has 8. Once the clock reaches 59 seconds the music will change, telling you to hurry up. At 0 seconds the battle ends, and a victor is determined.


    4). Mini Map - Zoids:
    The gray box in the upper left is the mini map. It shows the location of all Zoids, including their HP, all Large Zoids, and all bases. You can see a players HP by how much black (lost health) is on their icon. There are special areas om some maps, such as forests or caves, where a Zoid won't be visible on the mini map to anyone except those also in the forests.


    5). Mini Map - Production Bases
    Each active base is displayed in red/blue, while each destroyed map is shown in blue.




    6). Return To Base:
    This blue orb in the upper right will return you to your base after a countdown of 5 seconds. During this time you can still run, but if you are shot, or aim a weapon of your own, the countdown will stop. Use it to escape enemy Zoids when low on health to preserve your team's death count.


    7). Repair Kits:
     Repair kits are just below the return to base icon. You can only use 2 per battle, and they restore 50% HP each use. Probably best saved for invading the enemy base or something. As your pilot level increases you can bring more repair kits into battle.


    8). Weapons:
     Weapons on the bottom right are the ones you've equipped. Green weapons cannot lock onto a target, but they deal good damage to both bases and large scale Zoids. Red weapons lock onto small NPC Zoids, and deal increased damage to them. Blue weapons lock onto enemy player Zoids and do good damage to them. Your weapons will level up throughout battle, giving them stat increases.


    As you use a weapon, it'll gray out and there'll be a timer bar around it. This indicates when the weapon can next be used. Even weapons that have a 0 second countdown tend to take a second to let you click again. To lock on to a target, hold the weapon icon until a green marker appears around the target.


    9). Boost Medals:
    The silver circle count beneath your weapons. This ranks up as you defeat enemy small Zoids, defeat opponents, etc. in battle. Once it reaches a certain threshhold your weapons will level up (in-battle level that is, not stat level) and will see improved reloading times and increased attack power. The required number for level ups varies depending on the weapon, and it'll always reset to 0 at the start of a new battle.




    Stamps:
     Stamps are small icons you can use to communicate with your team. This can be very important, using warnings to tell your allies to watch out. Using arrows to tell them to go after the right or left bases, etc. It's also just nice to get a greeting sometimes.

    Don't hesitate to voice your ideas to the team. Sometimes the arrows can be used interchangeably to tell your allies to converge on a certain base, etc. Beware of warning signs. Often they're used for a Zoid running into your home base!



    * Nice to meet you is closer to 'Please be kind to me.' It's a common, formal greeting in Japan.
    * It was an honor is "It was an honor to fight together!" But this was longer than the image could allow.
    * I'm healing Zoids is actually "I'm recovering health!" but I didn't want new players to confuse this with sitting at the base to recover health. It is for support Zoids who are healing allies.


Different Uses and Explanations

    I will return: If someone is using this multiple times, they are asking all allies to return to base. Here you have a home field advantage due to constantly restoring health, so if a battle comes down to kill count, your best chance is fighting from your own base!

    Let's Play Defensively! This means you should avoid direct confrontation. If you're a destroyer, don't charge into a group of 3 Zoids by yourself. You're delaying the inevitable in most cases, and contributing to the enemy's kill count, which is often the deciding factor in battles. If you're close to winning the kill count, and are only defending your bases, fight from inside to improve your personal kills against enemies, by using the base as a shield and thus sacrificing it.

    Stamp + Nice To Meet You: A combination of a stamp plus Nice to meet you, either formal or informal, is a request to follow the stamp action. A Large Zoid stamp + Nice to meet you, for example, is asking the team to please build the large Zoid.

    Direction + Warning: Is telling members to go to that lane to intercept enemies.

    Warning: If someone says this, check your health. This is often an ally warning the team that they're about to get killed.

- End of Battle Screens

    There are a few pages that show up at the end of each battle, but don't worry, they're simpler than they seem.



    Victory Screen:
    This screen shows how many bases were defeated, what the total kill count was for each team, and how much time was left on the clock. Your team is always displayed on the left, but it may be either Imperial or Republic.

    Player Score: This shows what your personal scores are in each field. If you place in the top 3 in any category, it can increase the number of league points and experience you get. If you place high in 3 or more fields, you won't suffer nearly as much of a loss on LP when you lose.

    Result Screen: This has the league points and experience that you gain. Both are modified by score points, and when you fill up your experience bar you'll increase in level, gaining various rewards. You can see our LP / Level guide for more information.

    Resulting Rewards: The final page is how much you earned in metal and Zoid Gold. You can gain a small amount of Zoid Gold for the first 5 battles that you win each day. Roughly 5-10 per battle. You can also gain a substantial amount more metal with a Premium account. Up to 250-300 per battle, depending on what events are going on. The final note is Premium Accounts. This is just a list of who, if anyone in the battle had a premium account.

- Battle Modifiers

Full Burst:

    Full Burst is a unique short term skill that gives substantial boosts or enemy debuffs in battle. These usually last around 10-13 seconds, and the Zoids effected will have a glow around them (Green for ally buffs, red for debuffs from the enemy.) The effect depends on the pilot skill, so see our Pilots guide for further information.

    *Be warned that the glow from Full Burst shows your Zoids location to enemies outside of the forest, so don't give away your location.

    Tip: Full Burst provides a temporary invincibility, so most Zoids, under threat of death, will wait until they're knocked down, such as by a small base missile or an enemy weapon. Then, they'll hit Return To Base while knocked down, and spam click Full Burst to activate it immediately once they get up. This ensures one safe escape per battle.

- Battle Notifications

    These notifications pop up in battle, and will tell you about events going on anywhere in the battlefield. There are a few more we haven't gotten yet, primarily the red notifications that say a player has disconnected.

- Stages (Battle Fields)

    Going into trees on certain maps (Swamp, Forest, etc.) will hide you from enemies, both visually and on the minimap. If they are also in trees, they'll see all Zoids that are in the trees across the map. Also be forewarned that your Full Burst glow and weapon shots will still be visible. If an enemy is coming, it might be better to stop firing and wait for them to pass by.

    Hiding Spots:
    - Forest Map: Large forests on both sides
    - Wetlands Map: Medium forests on both sides
    - Canyon: Caves

    Rocks and other physical obstacles can protect you from enemy shots. Use them to escape in tight situations! Be warned, however, that Strike Claws and other melee attacks can still hit you through smaller obstacles (rocks, walls, etc.) So if an enemy suddenly stops and faces you, run away! Particle Cannons also fire through all obstacles and hit every Zoid in their line of fire.


- Large Scale Zoids

    Large Scale Zoids, like small Zoids are NPCs that are utilized in battle. A Large Zoid can be mobilized in Vs. mode when one of your bases has been destroyed. At this point a box (the Large Zoid startup Memory) will appear in the center of your home base, only once per battle. Run across the box to grab it, then run to the building station (a black square) that's just in front of your base's gate. Stand on the center, tap the platform, and you'll see arrows appear pointing towards all available routes. Select the route you want the Zoid to go down, and when construction is completed, it'll march forward.

    Large Zoid Notes:
    - Large scale Zoids will stop and fire at any enemy in front of them.
    - This can be exploited by running in front, then moving away from the attack to slow it down.
    - Green weapons are best against Large Zoids.
    - Until it is constructed, the construction box CAN be destroyed, so don't let small Zoids near it.
    - If a Large scale Zoid reaches a base and launches an attack, it'll be destroyed in one to three hits.
    - You can launch Large Zoids away from a base you're attacking, so enemies have to choose between them.



- Zoid Roles

    Roles are battle effects applied to each individual Zoid. These effects determine how to best utilize the strengths of an individual, and can greatly change the outcome of battle if used correctly (or improperly.) Depending on the situation, don't be afraid to abandon these roles for more dire needs, but they're a strong advantage when you use them.

    Effects that affect Zoids other than your own will require that you be within a certain vicinity of said Zoids. You can see whether or not you're close enough to affect them by a glow that appears around those Zoids.

    Commander: Increases the HP and Attack Power of small Zoids.
     - Command Wolf
     - Dark Horn
     - Elephander
     - Iron Kong
     - Shadow Fox

    Destroyer: Increases your attack power against enemy player Zoids.
     - Blade Liger
     - Geno Breaker
     - Geno Saurer
     - Gun Blaster
     - Liger Zero
     - Saber Tiger

    Fighter: Increases your attack power against enemy small Zoids.
     - Berserk Fürher
     - Dibison
     - Iron Kong PK
     - Lightning Saix
     - Shield Liger
     - Zeek Dober

    Supporter: Increases the HP and Defense power of surrounding ally Player Zoids. Support Zoids can use healing weapons on allies.
     - Dimetrodon
     - Gordos
     - König Wolf
     - Mammoth
     - Red Horn
