History
First Appearance, Episode 6 ~ 7
O'Connell first appeared working for Rob. He helped apprehend the main group. When Bang and Irvine escaped and started causing trouble, he held Fine and Moonbay at gun point as he ordered them out of their jail cell, intending to use them to force Bang to comply. Only, Moonbay got the drop on him. She said she already knew that they were planning to strike the Empire, and promised not to tell if he agreed to a deal. O'Connell agreed, and Moonbay was given a mission to destroy Fire Bridge. He then joined Rob in the stand off at Red River.
Search Mission, Episode 17 ~ 18
After Rob Hermann went missing while scouting out some suspicious icebergs, O'Connell wanted to go out and search for him. He was ordered to stay put by the president herself, because jamming snow in the area was blocking all communication and soldiers were only getting lost in the snow. Discontent with this, and knowing that something was wrong, O'Connell turned to someone outside of the military. He was approached by Moonbay who'd overheard his plight, and asked her to search for him. She and Fine took a Pteras to scout while Irvine kept them oriented with a light beacon from the ground.
With that aspect taken care of, O'Connell continued to the front lines. He arrived just as Ford, commanding in a Gojulas learned that the attack by land was a mere diversion. The true threat was coming from the sea, and he needed to return to New Helic City as fast as possible. O'Connell and a unit of Command Wolves took the place of the Gojulas on the front lines, holding back the Empire for as long as possible.
Stand Off, Episode 19
O'Connell joined the stand off at New Helic City, waiting for the Empire to act after the ceasefire agreement timer ran out. Fortunately, the battle was called off before it could happen.
Allied Battle of Guygalos, Episode 34
O'Connell followed Rob Hermann into the battle of Guygalos during Prozen's rebellion, standing in the fight even against such impossible odds as the Death Saurer. His position in this battle wasn't clearly communicated, but given his history of piloting Command Wolves it seems likely that he was in the Command Wolf Urban Warfare Spec. that was seen standing beside the blue Shield Liger (Hermann's) throughout the episode. At one point he was also commanding the Republic's forces to bombard the Death Saurer in hopes of preventing it from firing the particle cannon.
Guardian Force
St. Konk, Episode 37
O'Connell joined a Sergeant Taylor and his unit in overseeing a ruin excavation after the ruins were uncovered by an earthquake. When the townspeople and nearby units disappeared, he went to investigate, but his group was taken control of by the ancient Zoidian, Rease, and her Organoid. They were rendered unconscious and their Zoids taken to be used as combat drones. When the group was finally discovered, O'Connell woke just long enough to warn Bang of a blue devil disguised as a young woman.
Border Town, Episode 38
O'Connell reached out to Bang Freiheit, asking him to investigate a town in Imperial territory that was being threatened by a group claiming to be part of the Republic. The Republic had no records of a unit in that area, and he informed Bang that he'd be accompanied by another Guardian. However, the communication cut out due to the sand storm before he could inform him that it'd be Thoma Schwarz, not Karl.
Dragonhead Base, Episode 45
When two men, Ralph and Mueller attempted to steal the Storm Sworder Stealth units being developed at Dragonhead Base, O'Connell helped Hermann hold them at gunpoint. However, they were both knocked to the ground when Ambient attacked, allowing the thieves to escape. Though they both survived, O'Connell was left unconscious, hauled into the base by Hermann.
Thankfully, they knew they'd be back. The Stealth units weren't equipped with all of their combat commands, limiting what type of ammunition they could use. O'Connell piloted one of three Silver Pteras alongside Hermann and Moonbay, taking to the skies to fight the returning Storm Sworders. At first this went well, with ground units raining fluorescent paint down from the sky to light up the otherwise-camouflaged Storm Sworders, but then both O'Connell and Hermann were struck down by Ralph's machine.
The Ultra Saurus, Episode 60
On board the Ultra Saurus O'Connell was responsible for updating the team on their current situation, including how fast the Death Stinger was traveling, when it was expected to arrive, and when the Ultra Saurus was expected to wake up.
Methane Ice, Episode 61
After one of their Hammer Heads went down to an unknown attack, O'Connell presented the resulting findings to the group. The sea floor was covered in methane ice, and mild disturbances could cause it to bubble to the surface in a series of explosions. They later used this to escape the Death Stinger.
Communications Intel, Episode 65
O'Connell continued to relay incoming communication information to the staff in the Ultra Saurus. He noted that the gravitational effects of the Ultra Saurus were making communications hard to establish. When their Storm Sworder SSS, which had been mobilized to offer support to the Blade Liger crashed he informed them that Bang seemed to be moving towards the valley of the Rare Hertz.
Surveillance, Episode 66
O'Connell mobilized from the Ultra Saurus in a Pteras Radome, accompanied by two Silver Pteras to get ahead of the giant Zoid and provide insight into the evolving situation. Once he neared Eveopolis he witnessed a blinding light, the awakening of Zoid Eve. He relayed images of the ultimate Death Saurer's enshrined body back to the Ultra Saurus. This was their first time learning that the Ultimate Death Saurer even existed. He was then asked to enlarge the images of the figure next to it, showing them that Prozen, or the 'Dark Kaiser' was still alive. When asked about the situation O'Connell couldn't explain the insane energy levels they were seeing in Eveopolis. Dr. D reasoned that it could only be coming from Zoid Eve, the source of energy for all Zoids.
