History

First Appearance, Episode 6 ~ 7

When Karl first appeared, he was with a large group of Molgas lining up along Red River. This mobilization was called out by the Republic, both sides questioning each other's presence near the neutral zone. Karl himself knew that this wasn't a mere training exercise, in spite of his own claims. Minister Prozen was pushing the Empire into Republic territory, believing the Republic to be usurpers of their land. This ended in a stand off between the two factions, each waiting for the other to make a move.

When a rogue Pteras attacked the Empire, trying to instigate a start of the battle, Karl saw the attack for what it was, Prozen merely being impatient and trying to falsely start the battle. Nevertheless, the Republic would be preparing for battle, so Karl, as well, ordered his men forward. At least, until Fire Bridge was destroyed. At that point, a key route had been cut off, so Karl ordered a retreat knowing that if they stayed until Republic reinforcements arrived that it'd be too late to pull back.

Invasion Plans, Episode 13

Karl and Marcus were at the same location outside of Kronos Fortress. Though Karl wanted to mobilize together, prompting the Republic to surrender, he was ordered to instead continue on to Mt. Ossa. When he confronted Raven about this, Raven was quick to tell him that Prozen never had any interest in a ceasefire, he wanted war. All Karl could do was accept Marcus's invitation to watch the battle at Kronos. When the Republic put up hardly any fight, he warned Marcus that it may be a trap. This came too late, and Kronos detonated, taking a significant amount of Marcus's men with it.

Advance, Episode 15

Karl recognized the Republic's keen planning when the rubble from Kronos Fortress significantly slowed their advance. Nevertheless, he got to the battlefield in his Iron Kong. What he hadn't expected was for the Republic to roll out a Gojulas. It destroyed a large number of their forces almost immediately. Schwarz called a retreat rather than see his men senselessly slaughtered.

Mt. Ossa Destruction, Episode 17 ~ 18

He and Marcus advanced towards New Helic City together, drawing the attention of the Republic on land. Karl warned Marcus not to make any bold moves once they entered the jamming snow, which would prevent all communication. Oddly, the battle didn't require any bold moves. The Gojulas that stood to challenge them suddenly retreated, turning back towards New Helic City.

From there, they advanced to Mt. Ossa. The base had already been evacuated, and though the base was suspiciously quiet, Marcus charged ahead. Karl tried to stop him, even standing in the way of his men and ordering them to retreat, but Marcus insisted he only received his orders from Prozen. When Mt. Ossa began to erupt many of the combat Zoids came flooding back out with frozen combat systems, but Marcus stayed behind, ordering them to fight. He died there, Karl left to salute the fall of a fellow soldier.

Training Battle, Episode 29

Karl next appeared at Ebenei Air Base where he helped Ralph test the moxie of his new Black Redlers against a real land-combat Zoid, his Saber Tiger. This battle went well. He managed to defeat one of the Redlers, but lost the mock battle to Ralph, who was following right behind it. With the battle concluded, the two discussed how Ebenei had received massive benefits from Regent Prozen for the purpose of attacking rebel territories. Though Ralph urged him to accept and learn to respect his new ruler, Karl simply didn't see things the same way.

During his stay reports came in about an imposter of Rudolph, the missing crowned prince. The Zoid that the Redlers attacked hailed the base, and when the image came up Schwarz immediately recognized Rudolph. He showed him nothing but respect, and even tried to tell Ralph that he wasn't an imposter. Ralph, however, had already received massive benefits for backing Prozen. He ordered Schwarz be restrained by his soldiers, and continued the attack.

As the battle raged on, Schwarz stood patiently by and watched. When the men holding him were distracted he threw them aside and, taking advantage of their confusion, smashed the self-destruct button of the base. It seems the base was evacuated, as all key characters survived.

Battle For Guygalos, Episode 34

When Prozen launched the Death Saurer in Guygalos, Karl joined the true ruler, Crowned Prince Rudolph in fighting for the Guylos Empire. Though he lead a strong Zoid unit, the Death Saurer's armor was too strong to break through. They decided to target its Zoid Core, but to get close would need to jam the particle intake fan, stopping the particle cannon. Two Gojulas units tried to accomplish this only to be decapitated. Seeing the urgency, Karl punched the forearm of his Iron Kong through the leg piping of the Death Saurer, ripping off his own Zoid's arm to place an obstacle that'd lock up its movements for the final attack.

Guardian Force

Thoma, Episode 38

Karl was called in to help with a border town that was being threatened by bandits, but the situation resolved before he arrived.

Brainwashed, Episode 41

Karl was tasked to investigate the Holciard Weapons Plant after an emergency distress signal, followed by radio silence. Upon reaching it, he met with Captain Tsubaki who claimed that there must be a mistake, blaming the dismantling of the snow generation jamming device putting off some sort of signal abnormality. Karl and his men were soon held at gunpoint. Tsubaki claimed they'd been chosen to help carry out the total rebirth of the world. In reality, Tsubaki and everyone else at the base was under the mind control of Rease and her Organoid, Specular. Karl soon succumbed to the same manipulation.

The situation became even more dire when the reactor in the plant began to overheat. If it detonated, it'd take out a significant portion of both territories. When Thoma, Karl's brother was sent to follow up Karl attacked Thoma's Dibison with his upgraded Iron Kong. Part way through the battle Specular's control was disrupted, and though Karl regained control he no longer had command over his Zoid. It almost killed Thoma, but thankfully the Dibison landed a shot on a vital weak point before that fate came to be.

Raven, Episode 47

Karl lead the arrest of Raven as he waited for his Zoid to evolve. Once in custody he asked Raven about his Geno Saurer. Karl knew that he couldn't have simply stumbled across such a rare machine, something developed as a side project to Prozen's Death Saurer. After Raven's transfer to another facility started, Karl and the 1st Armored Division rolled out to fight the Geno Breaker. They joined countless others, including the Republican Army in launching an all-out bombardment. This failed to destroy the Breaker. Karl pursued the fleeing Zoid, arriving just in time to draw its attention away from Bang. Unfortunately, this meant that the particle beam destined for the Blade Liger was instead redirected towards his unit, taking out every Saber Tiger but his own. He could only watch as the Geno Breaker took to the skies and fled.

Defense of New Helic City, Episode 59

Karl lead the 1st Armored Division in defending New Helic City. He fought alongside Hermann, directly confronting Hiltz and his Death Stinger. As per Hermann's plan, he fell in behind the Shield Liger. Once its energy shield disabled the Death Stinger's, Karl leapt over the Liger, right towards the head of the Death Stinger. He was caught mid-air by the sea-scorpion's giant claws. He didn't waste a second, unloading as many shots from the gatling as he could, but was simply thrown aside. Thankfully, he'd delayed just long enough for the defense forces to arrive. With their sacrifice, the rest of the citizens were able to evacuate.

Defense of the Ultra Saurus, Episode 60

Karl and his unit helped to defend the Ultra from an army of Helcats sent by Hiltz. However, they were taking heavy fire. At Bang's insistence, he pulled his men back, leaving the battle up to the Blade Liger and Lightning Saix.

Sea Battle, Episode 61

Though the Ultra escaped across the ocean they were still being pursued by Hiltz's forces. An army of Sinkers caught up with them, and Karl's unique agility in the Iron Kong, capable of firing not just from one platform but climbing different structures around the massive Zoid allowed him to uniquely defend against aerial opponents trying to target higher-up locations.

The Gravity Cannon, Episode 62

After the Ultra Saurus was equipped with the Gravity Cannon, the largest weapon ever developed, Hermann assigned Karl to be the one in charge of aiming and firing it. This was a big responsibility, as for all the weapons power they'd only been able to develop three shells, the first of which was spent on testing it.

Gravity Cannon Combat Use, Episode 63

Karl fired the first live combat round of the Gravity Cannon at the Death Stinger while it was trapped in a large energy shield. Though his aim was dead on, the Death Stinger shattered the shield before the shell could reach it and shot it out of the air. In spite of their shock, they reorganized for a second attempt. This time, Karl landed a direct hit on the Death Stinger.

The Revived Death Stinger, Episode 64

When Hermann ordered all Zoids to mobilize from the Ultra Saurus to target the recently-revived Death Stinger, which was susceptible to damage as it hadn't yet regained its shield, Karl was asked to be the commander of the entire force. He gladly accepted, only to learn that the main hangars were underground and the elevators to the flight deck were disabled. It'd take time to repair them, leaving only the Blade Liger and the Lightning Saix to take up the fight.

The Final Battle, Episode 66 ~ 67

Finally nearing Eveopolis, they'd received several startling reports, such as Prozen's survival, the entombed ancient Death Saurer, and even the awakening of Zoid Eve. Karl watched as Hiltz made his announcement that he would be taking control of the Death Saurer, putting an end to Prozen, the Dark Kaiser. He once more took his seat and prepared to fire the singular Gravity Cannon shell that Dr. D had manufactured on the way to the city. Yet, just as they prepared to fire the Death Saurer turned and grazed the Ultra Saurus' leg with a particle beam. The behemoth collapsed, making firing all the more difficult.

Once Moonbay managed to stabilize it just enough, Karl fired the final shot. Though it landed well within the intended radius the Death Saurer suppressed the hyper gravity field, weaponizing it as a way to divide its particle cannon and fire it across the entire planet.

His final firing of the Gravity Cannon would come not from a shell, but from firing Bang and the Blade Liger out of the Gravity Cannon. It was an insane plan, but their last chance. Karl waited until they had a confirmed lock then fired, successfully landing the hit that destroyed the Death Saurer and saved both armies.
