- ZW0 Zoid: Bazootle

Pilot(s): Shell
Primary Army: Imperial Army
Blast Type: Machine Blast

Bazootle is a heavy artillery Zoid used frequently by the Empire as long-range support fire, for obvious reasons. Aside from the bazooka, it has a wide variety of other weaponry, but artillery isn't its only benefit. The Zoid is also heavily armored, and few things can damage or get around this armor while it's in its normal state. However, activating the Machine Blast causes some of the armor to shift around, making room for all of its equipment to move into firing range. This opens the Zoid up to attack, and while it is at its most dangerous, this is also the best opportunity to bring it down.

History

Introduction, Episode 2

The Bazootle first showed up in Episode 2, where it was participating in training exercises. Captain Luc requested that Shell use the Bazootle to capture Sally Land. However, Shell underestimated the strength of the Beast Liger and, more importantly, took risks that he didn't have to take because of that confidence. By activating the Machine Blast, he opened the Bazootle's armor and thus opened it up to attack.

Capture of the Gatling Fox, Episode 10

In Episode 10, two Bazootle were mobilized alongside Knox and his Stylaser in order to capture Byrne Blood and the Gatling Fox that he stole from the Empire. Though they were able to capture him once, he escaped, and once cornered again, was aided by Leo and his Beast Liger. The Gatling Fox was able to fire off its flares and escape during the blinding light.

Rogue Unit, Episode 12, Bazootle GU

Eight Bazootles appeared in the Genospino unit, and accompanied it while it marched toward Neo Helic. This unit was treated as a rogue operation that broke off from the Imperial Army, and the Empire denied any alliance to it, effectively washing their hands of blame.

Equipment Information

- AZ680 Caliber Bazooka Cannon

This weapon serves as the Bazootle's namesake, and is primarily activated during its blast state. Once activated, the barrel, certain armor pieces, and additional weaponry rotate forward, concentrating the Bazootle's overwhelming artillery on the target. The barrel itself locks over the silver ring at the front of the unit.

- A-Z Anti-Aircraft Laser Gun

These two large guns are attached to the sides of the Bazootle's shell, and fire energy bullets. The weapon is sometimes reused for other Zoids, such as the Cannon Bull.

- 270 Caliber 4-Shot Missile

Bazootle's side armor doubles as compact weapon binders, with these particular weapons located on the front. During normal mobilization they remain in this fixed position, able to fire up to a total of eight shots (combined) at an opponent. Upon activation of Bazootle's Machine Blast, they rotate backwards, swapped instead for secondary weapons installed to the armor.

- 410 Caliber Missile Pods

These weapons, only listed in descriptive product info, are attached to the back of the 270 Caliber 40-Shot Missile armor. When activated, the armor flips around, bringing these two weapons to the front. The first 8-Shot pod is attached to the right side, with a box of missiles. The second, a wheel design, is attached to the left side.

 * Equipment lists only contain equipment that features prominently in the show. Unused equipment is left off.

Profile:
Bazootle is a medium-sized Zoid that specializes in rear support fire. It's able to fire with five different types of weapons, which include the large-calibre A-Z 680mm Bazooka on the back. The speed of its movement is comparatively slow because of how much its weight has increased, prioritizing more weapons, armor, and equipment over speed.

For the Machine Blast, the front shell moves forward to protect the head and front legs, and the side and back shell are opened, deploying the Bazooka from inside.

If the A-Z 680 Calibre Bazooka, A-Z Anti-Air Laser Gun, 270 Calibre 4-Shot Missiles, 410 Calibre Missile Pod, are all fired at once for the Avalanche Fire, the enemy Zoid will explode into a fine dust.
