None	The Pteras is well known as Zi's first major mass-produced aerial fighter, and held a strong position in the military for quite some time. Even when it began to be viewed as more of an antique, it still saw use in bombing runs, providing support to other units on the ground. ^[1]

ZAC 2034

The Pteras was developed as the Republic's first major aerial fighter, in response to their increasing difficulty with the Zenebas Empire's air combat Zoids. It was developed throughout the early 2030s, and released in 2034 during the middle stages of the Central Continent War.

ZAC 2099

At this point the Pteras' design had aged sufficiently enough and it was pulled from the frontlines of war. It still saw use in battle by being converted into a bomber-type aircraft. Here it made use of its long-term hovering abilities as well as its vertical takeoff and landing, which made it ideal for rough terrains. This bombing configuration was illustrated when, the same year, Pteras units were deployed at Mercurius Lake. There they provided intense bombing runs across the lake to occupy the Empire's aquatic Zoids, including Brachios, so that Lt. Col. Halford's High-Speed Combat Force could safely reach the mountain's summit.

This small weapon is placed on the right side of the muzzle and fires in rapid succession. Although it is not animated in the TV shows, it still uses the weapon. The flat surface generates muzzle flashes when it fires.

- Air-to-air 2-Shot Automatic Pursuit Missile

The Air-to-air Missiles are placed on the Pteras' back, and provide it some much needed defense from aerial competitors. As their name implies, the missiles will chase after a target, not just fire in a linear direction.

Air-to-ground Two-shot Missile Pod x2: 空対地２連装ミサイルポッドＸ２

The air-to-ground missiles are placed on the sides of the chest, which means they're already aimed downwards towards potential targets when the Pteras is in flight. The missiles are intended for aerial bombing runs against ground-based targets, and were used as the Pteras' main weapon throughout the late 2000s.
