- Military History

After their Nyxie landing operation had suffered delays due to an enemy bombing run, the Republic finally set out in pursuit of the retreating Imperial forces. Pteras Bombers joined several other varieties of aerial Zoids, following the fleet from the skies. When they finally detected the Empire's fleet they launched an immediate bombardment. They had the advantage for a period of time, until both armies ran out of fuel and were forced to return to their transporters to resupply. The Empire had planned for this moment. A massive force of Sinkers was hiding at the bottom of the ocean, waiting for the bulk of the Republic's air force to be unavailable. They launched a vicious assault on the vulnerable fleet, and without the proper Zoids to fight back, the Republic was forced to retreat.

- Anti-Surface Missile Laser Guidance Unit

Anti-Surface Missile Laser Guidance Unit 対地ミサイル用レーザー誘導装置×2

 The Anti-Surface Missile Laser Guidance Unit is the flat plate sticking out of the front of the wing unit. As the name implies, it's a laser guidance unit intended to assist with the accuracy of the Anti-Surface Missiles.

- Expanded Weapon Bay ×2

 The Expanded Weapon Bays are the arches coming off of the wing units. These have slots for installing additional weapons to the Pteras Bomber, and are typically equipped with air-to-air missiles.

- Extensioner Unit

 This is the base unit that all of the wing equipment is attached to. Its only real purpose, so far as we know, is to add additional equipment opportunities.

- Missile Pack ×2

Missile Pack ×2 ミサイルパック×2

 The missile packs refer to the thick armor attached to the legs. Normally the bays are closed, but as the Pteras flies over a target it can open these missile bays and bombard its enemies with anti-ground missiles. Each bay contains 4 missiles. More importantly, by the time this upgrade came along the Pteras had become obsolete as a fighter (close-range combat) aerial Zoid. It couldn't compete with the Empire's Redler, and converting it into a fighter-bomber unit made it relevant once more.
