History (Anime)

Awakening, Episode 1 ~ 2

Fine was awakened from an Ancient Zoidian capsule by Bang, who'd discovered her and Sieg in the ruins of the Elemia Desert. At first she remembered nothing of who she was, not even her name. Bang took her back to his home in the Wind Colony to meet the rest of the village. When the Desert Arcobaleno Gang showed up, Bang realized that they'd continue to hunt down Sieg. So, he elected to leave the Wind Colony, taking Fine with him in hopes that they could recover some of her memories.

(This is a shortened version of the full anime history.)

First Vision, Episode 3

When Bang and Fine went to a ruin that'd been abandoned for 50 years, Fine found a strange pillar with ancient writing on it. As the text lit up a memory awakened, and she passed out. When she came back to, she realized that she had to find Zoid Eve, no matter what. Unfortunately, she had no idea what Zoid Eve actually was.

Pteras Pilots, Episode 17 ~ 18

At O'Connell's insistence, Moonbay and Fine borrowed a training Pteras and tracked down Hermann, who'd gone missing during a scouting mission. This helped forewarn the Republic of the Empire's invasion. Upon hearing of this, Krueger evacated the base, and though he'd intended to stay behind and detonate the base, they kidnapped him to save his life. They tried instead, at Krueger's instruction, to bomb the caldera of Mt. Ossa to trigger an eruption, but were shot down by Raven's Saber Tiger before this could work. Thankfully, Bang arrived in time to fend it off.

The Garil Ruins, Episode 20

At the Garil Ruins Fine had another vision, recalling the existence of the "Death Saurer."

The Shield Liger's Revival, Episode 23 ~ 25

Some time after the Shield Liger's death Fine and Sieg fused to its remains. Moments later, it was engulfed in a vortex of pink light. Fine saw a vision of a second copy of herself, standing on a hill of grass. As time went on, her voice reached Bang, claiming to be afraid. He arrived to find the group held hostage and tried to fight back but was flung into the vortex of light. He was able to take control of the Blade Liger, and the evolution cocoon faded. Fine and Sieg were back to normal after the battle.

Ancient Memories, Episode 26

When Dr. D mentioned how an area of the desert used to be covered in fields, Fine started to talk about how much she loved the yellow flowers. Dr. D explained that she may actually be an Ancient Zoidian, and that these were not memories of recent times. He recalled old legends that when the Ancient Zoidians went into their long sleep that their memories were sealed inside of the Organoids. He believed Fine had regained some of hers during her long fusion with Sieg during the Shield Liger's resurrection. Yet, Fine couldn't help but point out that Bang had fused to Sieg before she had. They felt that perhaps this was why Fine hadn't regained her memories as clearly as she was supposed to. She still couldn't remember anything about Zoid Eve.

Awakening of the Death Saurer, Episode 32

While investigating a ruin Bang and Fine met Prozen, the man behind all the conspiracies. Yet something changed in Fine. She announced her Ancient Zoidian name for the first time, seemingly regaining some memories, identified herself as an Ancient Zoidian, and begged Prozen to stop his reckless ambitions. As the Death Saurer began to awoke he realized it was reacting to an Ancient Zoidian, and dragged her into the facility. When smoke filled the halls, she bit him and ran away, being rescued by Bang soon after. They fled the area while the Death Saurer's particle beam destroyed all other Zoids present, who hadn't known to run.

Confronting Raven, Episode 33

During Raven and Bang's fight the Blade Liger took heavy damage, and Fine was thrown from the cockpit and Sieg defused, falling unconscious. After Bang was able to get the damaged Blade Liger back up, Fine and Sieg got to their feet and fused back to its core. Fine explained to Bang that the power he sensed came from him, and that this power was what Sieg and the Blade Liger were responding too. She remained with the Blade Liger throughout the fight, which ended in the Geno Saurer's death.

The Death Saurer, Episode 34

Fine joined Bang in the Blade Liger during the battle of Guygalos, where both armies fought against Prozen and his Death Saurer. It was peculiar to everyone that Prozen rode on its shoulder instead of inside the cockpit, and Fine believed that he wasn't piloting the Death Saurer, but rather was possessed by its evil spirit. She urged Bang not to lose the fight, for the sake of everyone on Planet Zi, and during their final attack she instructed him to strike at the moment that the particle cannon was powering down. In the end, they succeeded in defeating the Death Saurer.

Guardian Force

Research, Episode 35

After the end of the war Fine began traveling with Dr. D to various dig sites, researching Zoid Eve. They hadn't found any leads in their year of research and after their Gustav was attacked, she and Dr. D parted ways while he recovered. Fine followed Bang in joining the Guardian Force.

The Blue Devil, Episode 37

Fine accompanied Bang in investigating a town where the citizens had gone missing. After being nearly killed by an unmanned Godos they contiued to town, encountering only one person, a strange girl who attacked Bang. It was only after Bang left that she spoke for the first time, taunting Fine, putting thoughts in her head about how Bang never wanted to find Zoid Eve. She claimed that they were of a cursed race, and that as long as Fine lived, the wars would never end, and would eventually kill Bang. Fine fell under Rease's mind control and she tied her up near the church's bells to be used as a body shield, as the bells were being used to amplify Rease's mind control over the entire town. Bang was able to overcome these illusions, however, and rescued Fine.

Lemuria Island, Episode 46

When Fine and Bang went to Lemuria Island she recognized it, almost as if she'd been there before. Once she was alone, she was confronted by Rease, who told her once more that she'd only bring misfortune to Bang. She created illusions that made Fine believe she was watching this play out. Devastated by this false reality, she gave up on fighting. However, she recognized that it was actually Rease herself who'd been suffering. Rease was forced to retreat when Bang showed up. After their battle, the waters eventually lowered, revealing the ancient ruins. Fine said farewell to her former homeland as the currents returned to normal, unaware of the tablet there depicting Fine herself.

Disobeying Orders, Episode 50 ~ 51

Fine went head to head against Republican army strategist Halford, who ordered several downgrades to the group's Zoids in preparation for fighting the Geno Breaker. She failed to report back to him about the group's refusal to carry them out. This saved their lives in the battle, but it didn't end there. The Saix and Dibison were disabled in combat. Fine grabbed a Pteras and tried to fly out to the battlefield to help Bang, only to arrive and see his Blade Liger thrown over a cliff. Fine lead the search for Bang and his Liger, trusting her instincts about where he was located. They tracked him to the village of Nordens based on Fine's intuition, where they rescued him from a rogue Empire unit.

The Death Stinger Awakens, Episode 57

Fine began sensing something ominous, and after a prophetic dream she awakened and discovered a strange energy signature, taking a Pteras to investigate. At the location she, Moonbay, and Thoma discovered the massive Hammer Kaiser, and a strange chamber. They were the first to witness the awakened Death Stinger. Hiltz had the Zoid fire its particle cannon, not at them but at Bang's battle against Raven, then took flight. They could only watch from their damaged Zoids.

The Ultra Saurus, Episode 60 ~ 61

The two armies set out to awaken the Ultra Saurus. With Hiltz moving much faster than they'd planned, Fine helped Thoma reroute the 7th power block to jump start it from the others. Finally, the giant Zoid awakened. This saved the Ultra Saurus by mere seconds. Once aboard, she took over as one of the operators overseeing incoming data on the Gravity Cannon. She helped read off coordinates and give instructions.

Disappearance, Episode 64

Fine drove a Gustav carrying Thoma's injured Dibison so that it could provide support fire against the Death Stinger. In the battle her Gustav took a direct hit. Fine lost consciousness momentarily, seeing visions of her past, standing in a field of debris while looking up at the Death Saurer. When she woke back up she tried to tell Bang, but she dissolved into particles of light before she could, disappearing from the Gustav.

Eveopolis, Episode 65

She reappeared in the caverns of the Dark Kaiser. Well into their conversation he took control of her mind, urging her to open the gates of Eveopolis. With the gates open she walked to the Zoid Eve console area, where she suddenly seemed free of the Dark Kaiser's control. When he tried to attack her, it was simply rebuffed by the console. While he had intended her to awaken Zoid Eve, to revive the ultimate Death Saurer, she instead intended to shut down the Zoid Eve, ending the life of all Zoids on the planet. If she could, she felt that the endless wars and destruction would finally come to an end.

The Zoid Eve, Episode 66

Fine struggled with her convictions to end the Zoid Eve. Yet, as Raven's battle dragged out in the city beneath her, she was only reminded of just how pointless all the battles were. Matters progressed on their own when a ricocheted shot struck the console area, causing the awakening of Zoid Eve. She knew this had placed a terrifying time limit on their situation. They needed to shut down the Zoid Eve, but she didn't know how. At least, not until Sieg arrived in the console area, claiming to know of a way.

Final Decision, Episode 67

The battle still hadn't ceased, and for Fine, the final straw came when the Death Saurer tried to absorb the Blade Liger and Geno Breaker into its Zoid core. Her outcry awakened a pulse in the Zoid Eve that launched both of them out of the Death Saurer's reach, but still, she tried to appeal to Hiltz. She tried to tell him that he was possessed by the evil spirit of the Death Saurer, only for him to claim that he drew on that evil spirit as a weapon. She appealed to him as such an intelligent person to realize that he'd never find peace, that he should learn from the mistakes of the past. Her words fell on deaf ears. Hiltz saw the only mistake of the past to be that they hadn't finished what they'd started. He swore to use the Death Saurer to wipe out all civilization on Planet Zi. He even went so far as to claim that they, as Ancient Zoidians, had gained overwhelming power that would allow them to rule all of space.

Realizing her appeals would go nowhere, Fine turned to Sieg. She trusted him to do what was right. The Organoid opened its chest panels and lifted Fine with the cables, mirroring the pose of the Zoid Eve. Several other cables linked to the console area, and the Zoid Eve's light began to fade. Then, right as she had committed to this decision Bang begged her not to destroy Zoid Eve, swearing to defeat Hiltz and the Death Saurer. His plan to fire the Blade Liger out of the Gravity Cannon was actually successful, and as soon as the behemoth fell, Fine and Sieg fused back to the Blade Liger, escaping Eveopolis right before it sank beneath the sands.

- Notable Facts

  • Fine got her name when Bang asked her over and over again what her name was. She had no idea, but randomly mumbled it. When asked about it, she had no idea that she'd even said it, what it meant, or if it was even her name. Later on, it was revealed that Fine was the (name? word? code?) used to open the gates to Eveopolis, to reach Zoid Eve. Multiple individuals (Rease, the Dark Kaiser) inferred that her name was the key to the end of the world (the reawakening of the Death Saurer.)
  • Fine doesn't like flavored waters, throwing out Bang's protein energy boost water because she thought it smelled bad.
  • Fine likes heavy salt in her coffee.

1. All information, unless stated otherwise, is from the Zoids Anime.

2. The ages are from the anime magazine AX, October 2000 issue, which had an interview with the director. When asked about the character ages he estimated Fine and Bang to be 'about 14', which seemed to estimate them to be the same age. The older ages are a range, based on the most-commonly official estimate of a 2-year gap between Chaotic Century and Guardian Force, and the interview estimate of it being about 4 years between the two.
