The above concepts show off Giller's core character design. |
When the Empire began spreading rumors that Leo's group were fugitives who had carried out espeonage in Imperial territory, Giller confronted the group. Though he nearly defeated the Beast Liger, his battle ultimately passed Republican borders, forcing him to withdraw.
Renowned as the most capable pilot in the Empire, Giller was introduced to Dr. Frank Land, who was overseeing the restoration of a gamechanging Zoid, the Genospino. He was assigned to protect Dr. Land and his excavations at all costs, and though he expressed concern, being a sniper pilot and most certainly not one to dig in the dirt, they explained that the Genospino was thought to have destroyed a third of the planet in the Zoids Crisis of the 21st century. Giller was told that if he helped protect the excavations, that he would be given the honor of piloting the Genospino upon its completion. To this, he agreed. In the mean time, he set out to guard an excavation site where they were digging up parts of the Geno Sawzer, the Genospino's strongest weapon. During this fight, Leo and the others unknowingly wandered too close, requiring Giller to act. Their battle left the Beast Liger at the bottom of a canyon. This leads to the Zoid being captured and taken to Zagato Base.
When Giller heard a communication from a nearby Imperial unit, saying that they were fighting against a lion type Zoid, he came to investigate and found that it was indeed Leo and his Beast Liger again. This time, they were on a ruin, and he had no problem sniping at the Liger in the barren wasteland. Even when Leo tried to use the aircraft carrier's launcher to fling the Beast Liger into the air, he was able to counter it. His one oversight was not realizing the launch pad used, which was launched with the Liger, was rigged with explosives on the bottom, giving the Liger a sudden altitude boost when detonated. He left the battlefield with a wounded wing.
After the launch of the Genospino, Giller flew his Sniptera to Republican territory. He requested to land and met with Clive Dias. He expressed his interest in clearing Collins' name, knowing that Siegal's story about him being responsible for the Genospino's assaults was nonsense. After all, Collins was dead. He asked for Dias help in this task, and even pretended to be a prisoner, so that Dias could make use of his Sniptera without the risk that Giller would be accused of treason. At this point, he stopped answering Dr. Land's calls, distancing himself from the Genospino project.
