- 4: Defend the Zoid Ruins to the Death!


 After Leo narrowly escapes Giller's pursuit he finds himself in an archeological compound, invited by Colonel Dias to take a look around. He's guided by Jo Aysel, a researcher at the facility, who first discovered the countless Zoids buried beneath the ground. However, the Empire has its eyes on the city, and begins an assault to take control.

- Notable Facts

  • Giller's Sniptera has earned the nickname "Red Reaper." Dias notes that he destroyed an entire division of the Republic's forces on his own.

  • Dias mentions that he and Giller seem to be linked by fate.

  • Jo Aysel is the archeologist who discovered the Zoids beneath the city. They had never seen so many buried in the same area before, so it was considered an important site, with Zoids found throughout the entire city. As such, the Republic fortified the only entrance with a large metal gate.

  • Beast Liger is noted to have first been spotted in Saga City, which gives a name to Leo's home town.

  • Jo says that the compound was a flourishing town in the 2000s, before the Zoid Crisis. That they had even developed underground, letting them avoid weather complications. However, now Jaminga live in the underground as well.

  • Jo recognizes the name of Leo's father, Joshua Conrad, who has been missing for 10 years. She grew up reading his books, and it inspired her to become an archeologist.

  • In the Japanese version, Jo calls Raptoria "Rap-chan". In the Hong Kong (English) dub, she instead refers to her as "My Dear Rap" or just "Rap".

  • The Stylaser piloted by Aldridge and the supporting Gabrigators use Smoke Dischargers to escape. While this is standard equipment for Gabrigator, it's not standard for Stylaser.

  • Dias mentions that the Republic used to have a talented scientist, but that he betrayed them and joined the Empire. He is responsible for inventing the B-Proof Suit and the Zoid Operate Visors.

      Stylaser. A large Styracosaurus-type Zoid characterised by its high defensive strength and powerful close-range attacks. Shielded by the best armour in the Empire Army, it charges ahead while launching mid-range bombardment with its missiles and laser guns. It specialises in the tactic of driving its head horn into opponents to stop them from moving, then finishing them off with an electric attack. When it uses its Machine Blast, it concentrates the electricity built up inside its body in its Spark Electrodes, pushes its Elect-Frill forwards and slams it into enemy Zoids, dealing an impact and an electric shock at once to stop the enemy Zoids from functioning!
