Story Information
Pilots: Introduction:
  • Hanna Hanna
  • Karl Lichten Schwarz
  • Rennie Kule Schwester
The Iron Kong is a massive imperial Zoid, said to be the only Zoid within the Empire to be capable of competing with the Gojulas at the time. Its unique build allows it to operate on any terrain.  [1]

- Potential Wild Form

While discussing the rise of beast-type wild Zoids, the Zoids Bible showed an image with a large number of examples. Although it didn't directly specify which ones were which, the wild gorilla shown here is pretty clearly themed after the Iron Kong. It has the same colors, hints at the shoulder armor, etc.

In terms of temperament, Iron Kongs are said to be much more cooperative than some other large-scale Zoids, like the Gojulas. While the Gojulas was so ferocious that few could pilot it, many pilots of the Empire boasted about the Kong's cooperation making it the perfect combat Zoid.

- Art Statue

Interestingly, a second wild Kong type appeared in Zoids Art Statue Volume 2. This series of high-detail figures featured scenic vinyl statues of various Zoids interacting with their environment. Each set had a rare chase figure, which wasn't listed in the default list. The aesthetic much more closely resembled the later concepts of Wild Zoids, like the Liger Zero's wild form and others depicted on the backs of certain NJR era model kits.

- Details of Design

Diverse Combat Conditions

Although this isn't necessarily a physical feature, it seemed worth mentioning that the Iron Kong is an incredibly diverse Zoid. Not only is it able to handle both close range and long range combat, but is able to operate in all weather conditions and virtually all terrains.

Temperament

Although the Iron Kong and the Gojulas are fated enemies, one huge advantage of the Iron Kong is its temperament. The Gojulas is considered to be so moody that most pilots can't handle it, which severely limits how many of them can be put into use. On the other hand, the Iron Kong works well with pilots, and because of this, many veterans from the old war praise it as the perfect machine. It's large, powerful, multi-purpose, and cooperative.

Healthy Wild Population

As of ZAC 2099, the Iron Kong is noted to have an overwhelmingly healthy population of wild variants when compared to the Gojulas, which is bordering on extinction. This also gives the Zoid a significant advantage, since far more of them can be rolled out onto the battlefield.

Two-Seater Cockpit

The Iron Kong sports a two-seater cockpit inside its massive head. One crew member is in charge of piloting, while the other controls the weapon systems.

- Military History

ZAC 2032 , Original Launch

The Iron Kong first rolled out as a large-scale Zoid of the Zenebas Empire, and ended the Gojulas' era of invincibility.

ZAC 2100, July, Iron Kong PK

Imperial Regent Gunther Prozen sent an Iron Kong PK to attack Rob Base, as well as to raise morale among the soldiers. It succeeded in invading the base alone, destroying any Zoid that got in its way, and proceeded to attack the unmanned Zoids within. After damaging a large number of Zoids, the pilot targeted Gojulas the Ogre, which was stationary at the time. It was confronted by Irvine's Command Wolf IS, but quickly defeated it. In response to Irvine's bold actions, the Ogre woke from its slumber and destroyed the Iron Kong PK with ease.

- Equipment Information

- 10-Shot Self-Guided Rocket Launcher

10-Shot Self-Guided Rocket Launcher: 10連発自己誘導ロケット弾ランチャー

One thing that set the Iron Kong apart was its powerful ranged equipment, which meant it could destroy a large number of enemies before entering close range. One such weapon in its arsenal is the 10-Shot Self-Guided Rocket Launcher, which is located on its left shoulder. A red panel along the top of the armor flips backwards, revealing 10 guided rockets within.

The right shoulder doesn't have one of these missile pods. Instead it's equipped with a mount for additional weaponry.

- Anti-Zoid 6-Shot Missile Launcher

Anti-Zoid 6-Shot Missile Launcher: 対ゾイド6連装ミサイルランチャー

The standard equipment for Iron Kong's right shoulder is a 6-Shot Missile Launcher. This weapon has a single barrel, and stores additional missiles in a magazine that latches into the top of the weapon. Each time a missile is fired, the magazine loads the next one into the barrel. This magazine allows the Kong to carry additional ammunition for its weaponry.

- Composite Sensor Unit

Composite Sensor Unit: 複合センサーユニット

The Composite Sensor is located in the Iron Kong's forehead. It's the large green lense you see to the right. Unfortunately, we haven't uncovered a lot of information about what all it can detect.

The sensor is installed to the top of the cockpit hatch, which includes all of the black armor down to the green lense. The hatch opens up backwards, leaving the lense attached to the lower part of the face.

- Iron Hammer Knuckles x2

Iron Hammer Knuckles x3: アイアンハンマーナックルx2

The Hammer Knuckles are, of course, Iron Kong's fists. These are multi-purpose weapons. They're not only strong enough to grapple with other large Zoids like the Gojulas, but they can bare the entire weight of the Iron Kong. This is part of what makes it such a versatile Zoid when it comes to terrain. The Zoid boasts the natural strength of its animal counterpart, and in the Guardian Force anime is depicted climbing straight up surfaces.

- TVM Surface-To-Surface Tactical Missile

TVM Surface-To-Surface Tactical Missile: TVM地対地2連装戦術ミサイル

The Surface-To-Surface Tactical Missile is located on the back, and typically used against close-range ground combatants. These missiles are attached to a rotating barrel. While a gimmick on the toy, this is likely used to cycle the additional missiles from the housing into a firing position.
