Introduction

Metternich is an assassin hired by Prozen to take out the young prince Rudolph, but was met with a series of unfortunate obstacles that constantly got in his way.

Metternich carries a gun. As a side note, Rosso also noted at one point that the equipment being used by Metternich's group was used by special ops in the Guylos Empire.

Metternich was also seen using a gatling gun, much like the one Viola used.

Normally I wouldn't note something this simple, but it was worth including after Rosso pointed out that the communication devices used by the group were special ops equipment for the Empire.

History

Assassination Plot, Episode 19

When Metternich first met with Prozen he was ordered to take three Command Wolves and attempt to assassinate crowned prince Rudolph on his way to his grandfather's funeral. While waiting for the right moment, one of his men noticed the Desert Arcobaleno Gang skulking around the palace as well. They attempted to kill them to prevent any interference, only for the gang to circle back around and shoot down the Command Wolves vital to their original plan.

As if that weren't enough, the attack drew the attention of the two Dark Horns guarding the palace. In their absence, Rosso and Viola of the Arcobalenos broke into the palace and kidnapped Rudolph before he could be killed. This placed Metternich in a tense position, as Prozen had trusted him with this task. He and his men stole the Dark Horns from the investigating palace guards, then went after Rosso, hoping to get the prince back.

Exchange, Episode 20

Rosso's intention was to sell Rudolph to the highest buyer, and Metternich's group was willing to deal. They thought this would be fairly straight forward. Load the briefcase with explosives, detonate it once it was in Rosso's grasp. Take out the only witness. Rosso saw through the plan, however, and once he realized that they intended to kill Rudolph, he had a change of heart. He threw the case back at them as soon as he had it, requiring Metternich to draw his gun and fire on the case, detonating it before it could reach them. Their Dark Horns were then hit by sweeping fire from Viola's Redler, further delaying their plans.

The Imperial Ring, Episode 23

When Raven unexpectedly handed Rudolph over to Metternich he was infuriated to find that the prince no longer had the imperial ring. He arranged to meet with Bang only to be double-crossed by his group, who knew he'd do the same if given the chance. Thus began a prolonged chase through the mines. Each and every time they caught them they seemed to have the answer to an escape. Finally fed up, Metternich pursued them with the Dark Horns. Both were shot down by Irvine.

Stinger, Episode 24 ~ 25

While repairing their Dark Horns Metternich's group was attacked by Stinger and quickly disabled by a paralytic gas. With no other choice he had to allow Stinger to join their group, even though he demanded a 70% cut. Metternich and Rot took the Dark Horns and pretended to chase Stinger through the desert, allowing him to be 'rescued' by Moonbay and thus infiltrating their group. After he'd paralyzed everyone at camp, Metternich rejoined him.

Frustrated with Stinger's extravagant games, Metternich just wanted to get the ring and leave. Stinger was quick to hold knives to his throat, and point out that the swirling vortex was the result of an Organoid. Stinger wanted to capture it. The situation was further complicated when Dr. D emerged from the vortex in a specialized suit and nearly knocked out him and Stinger.

Finally fed up, Metternich got in his Dark Horn and tried to gun down the entire group. Unfortunately, his other subordinate, Deris, had gotten his Zoid (Stinger's Guysack, loaned to him to kill Bang) stolen. Bang showed up in the Zoid and attacked Metternich's Dark Horn. Metternich flipped it through the air without much trouble and it was then attacked by Stinger's Saber Tiger. Moments later, the Blade Liger emerged from the evolutionary cocoon and cut the Saber Tiger in half. Realizing the battle was lost, and frankly only caring about the ring anyway, Metternich fled the battlefield.

A Slight Lie, Episode 26

Metternich had escaped from Bang and his friends, but he still only had the imperial ring to show for it. When he returned to Prozen he claimed that he had indeed killed Rudolph, and was simply waiting a few days for the body to be delivered. Prozen saw right through this, but didn't call him on it.
