The Republic troops had finished regrouping and in the early hours of the morning, they were departing from Entrance Bay of the Dark Continent. They were setting sail to reclaim their homeland from Neo Zenebas.
It wouldn't be an easy battle. In the past six months, they'd lost 40 percent of their entire contingent, and another 40 percent were still in the process of regrouping.
"Wow, so that's the Ultra Saurus?"
As he watched from the Royal Box, Rudolph spoke up in childish excitement at the majesty of the giant Zoid, the pride of the Republic.
"It's Lieutenant Colonel Hermann's ride. He's expressed his gratitude for your hospitality, Your Majesty. He said that it saved his life."
Schwarz answered, standing beside him. They were both still alive. Thanks to Schwarz's quick thinking, they'd been saved by jumping into a shelter underneath of the hangar.
The allied forces had escaped total destruction. The pipe that Rudolph had torn away had saved a valuable, albeit small, part of their military strength.
"When will the battle end?"
Rudolph's voice suddenly dropped to a low whisper.
"This battle has given birth to countless new hatreds. It won't end easily."
"Hatred..."
"Your Majesty, you hate Prozen, do you not?"
"Too many have died. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't hate him."
He looked back at the wasteland. The scars of the brutal battle were everywhere.
"But if that's the only way to stop the fight, then I..."
Schwarz continued to stare at Rudolph, who remained silent.
The Ultra Saurus moved forward in the morning sun. Aiming for the Central Continent, its homeland, where further battles awaited... |
