- Concept Art

Early concepts of the Sturm Führer seen in Dengeki Hobby Magazine included a head blade on the nose, much like the Geno Breaker's. This version was also seen as a sprite in Zoids Saga I, but this sprite was updated to the final design in Saga II and later.

Closer to the final design, these concepts were seen in CoroCoro Magazine.

What appears to be a finalized concept of the Sturm Führer / Tyrann appeared in Figure King 299.

- Military History

ZAC 2101, December, Rollout

After Prozen announced the rise of Neo Zenebas he made a last stand in the imperial capital of Valhalla. Joint forces from Guylos and Helic flooded into the city, laying waste to the Zenebas loyalists fighting there, only to realize that the pilots they were fighting against were elderly pilots formerly of Zenebas. They realized too late that the battle was a trap, meant to be the final grave of both armies. Valhalla erupted with explosions as Prozen destroyed Valhalla, taking a significant number of Guylos-Helic troops with him.

The blinding light emmitted from the capital was the signal for the second part of his plan. Prozen's son, Wolff Muroa, set out across the Central Continent with the Eisen Dragoon, an elite unit with the goal of destroying the Helic capital.

At this point, the Republic had already sent the majority of its troops to take part in the Western and Dark Continent wars, leaving the Central Continent lacking. The Eisen Dragoon landed in Cook Bay. Former Zenebas loyalists began revolting across the continent, lending aid to what they saw as the return of their true rulers. Sturm Führers joined the fight to cut their way through Republican territory, and after only three weeks they captured the western half of the continent.

Seven weeks after their landing Neo Zenebas attacked the capital, and succeeded in destroying it. The Sturm Führer was in service for just under two months yet had seen overwhelming success under the flag of Neo Zenebas.

- Notable Facts

  • The Sturm Führer's rollout was postponed after it was discovered that the Zoid put an extreme burden on the pilot.

  • The Sturm Führer was developed with the idea that the Zoid's ferocious nature would maximize its lethality in melee fights. This was proven true during its invasion of the Central Continent. [2]

  • The Sturm name is reflected in the lore sections, but oddly the unit itself is called the Storm Unit.

- Additional Equipment Information

- Active Shield x2

Active Shield x2: アクティブシールド×2

Also described as the Free Round Shields in the books, there's one of these special steel shields attached to each shoulder. They connect via arms that extend in the middle and rotate up/down at both connection points. In OFB4 they're shown to withstand a Gunbluster's assault.

- Sturm Booster x2

Sturm Booster x2: シュトゥルムブースター×2

These replace the Buster Claws of the standard Berserk Führer, and provide an enormous boost in speed. They can rotate up and down and the bottom panel folds open. What's interesting is that the concept art refers to these as Magnesser Drives. Though the final version never says this, it would explain a lot about how crazy fast this Zoid is.

- Thruster x10

Thruster x10: スラスター×10

These thrusters are located in the legs, and while thrusters are typically for maneuvering, there are so many and they're so large that it's feasible they also contribute to the high speed. Each piece on the side of the ankle has a full-height thruster installed to the back, and the anchor (still usable) has two thrusters, a large square one at the top and a small rectangular one at the bottom. The thighs also have a full-height booster on the back of the armor.

- X Breaker x2

X Breaker x2: エクスブレイカー×2

The X Breakers are attached to the Active Shields, with a longer blade on top and a shorter blade on the bottom. They snap closed around an enemy, slicing them through, and can be used at high speeds.
