Story Information
Pilots: Introduction:
The Lightning Saix IS is a variant from the Zoids Guardian Force anime, where it was the first individual Lightning Saix developed. It ran on the combat data of Irvine's Command Wolf after it'd received fatal injuries. It's differentiated by its orange eyes and the top-of-the-leg vents being black instead of red. We can also assume that it has no Organoid System like the standard Lightning Saix, since this system didn't exist in the show.  [1]

Damaged Data Banks, Episode 48

The original Saix was developed using an Ancient Zoidian technology template, and was so fast that it required restraint armor to be equipped to slow it down. In spite of these precautions the pilot lost consciousness and the Saix sped head first into the wall of a cliff, destroying its combat data. It was only saved when the combat data of Irvine's Command Wolf was transplanted into the Saix's body, allowing the Command Wolf to live on within it. Once it accepted the data, its eyes turned orange, first distinguishing it as the Irvine Spec. Soon after it raced to aid in a battle. Emperor Rudolph was under attack by Hiltz's forces, and their ability to strike back at them with Imperial Zoids was complicated by the fact that the president of the Republic was being held prisoner inside one of the attacking Zoids.

When the Saix reached the battlefield it quickly dispatched the Gun Snipers, who stood no chance at keeping up with the fast-moving Zoid. The Dibison, however, seeing that its allies were being taken out, was driven towards a cliff by the Organoid that possessed it, Ambient. Had the Saix not had such incredible speed, Irvine never would've gotten ahead of the Dibison in time to take out one of its legs, dropping the Zoid face first into the ground. It slid to a stop just before the edge of the cliff, saving not just Thoma's Dibison, but also Louise, the president herself.

Rematch, Episode 50

The Saix's first battle against Raven's Geno Breaker had a plan. The three Guardian Force Zoids were to surround the Geno Breaker using the Delta formation, take out the foot locks, and disable its particle cannon. Unfortunately they learned that the Breaker could simply fire its cannon from the air, not even needing the foot locks. Though the Saix's performance was overall good in this battle, dodging most close-range attacks, it had to deploy a special energy shield to save itself from the particle cannon. This tanked the Saix's energy, and it eventually suffered a system freeze when it ran out. It only survived thanks to Bang drawing the Geno Breaker away.

Search Mission, Episode 51

After the previous battle Bang went missing, washed over a waterfall at the bottom of the canyon. He ended up in the village of Nordens, and when the group finally found him he was surrounded by Imperial Rev Raptors, having stolen one of them himself to protect the villagers. Irvine and the others gunned down the Imperial Zoids, saving both Bang and the villagers.

Stolen Saix, Episode 55

When Irvine got out to offer help to a Gustav he accidentally stumbled across an illegal weapons smuggling operation. He was knocked out, his Saix stolen, and framed for the smuggling. Though he was arrested, he escaped quickly, knowing that if he found his Lightning Saix he'd find out who was really responsible. His Zoid was located at the Zi Foundation headquarters, a charity for war orphans that doubled as a weapons production operation now that the war had ended. He stole his Saix back and broke out, but was forced to battle against Carol, the person who'd traveled with him along his journey to find the Saix. Though he didn't want to fight this battle, she persisted until her Storm Sworder went down in the ocean, where she presumably died.

Geno Breaker Match, Episode 57

With the Blade Liger recently upgraded, the Guardian Force once again fought the Geno Breaker. Though the Saix was part of this battle, it was mostly between Bang and Raven. The battle ended abruptly when a particle beam from the Death Stinger cut across the field.

Defense of New Helic City, Episode 59

The Lightning Saix was rolled out to help defend New Helic City against the Death Stinger's invasion. It was disabled after being snatched by the claws and flung into a building, but survived the fight to retreat to Wendeen Lake.

Defense of the Ultra Saurus, Episode 60 ~ 61

With the Ultra Saurus unable to move until all of its power banks had been properly hooked up, Bang and Irvine both dove into battle to defend the Ultra Saurus against an army of Helcats. They successfully fended off the small Zoids until the Ultra escaped to the ocean, then were saved by Rosso and Viola before they could be hit by the Death Stinger's particle cannon. Its efforts to defend the Ultra continued into its sea battle against Sinkers.

Pursuit of the Death Stinger, Episode 63 ~ 64

Now that they had the Gravity Cannon, the Guardian Force employed the Delta Formation to pin down the Death Stinger by trapping it inside of a triangulated energy shield. This would give the shell time to reach its target location and crush the Zoid. Though the effort was successful, the Stinger was quickly revived by Ambient.

Its first act now that it was mobile again was to dig out the ground beneath the Ultra Saurus, collapsing the Zoid and trapping all army Zoids inside the hangars, which were now underground or unable to be reached. Only Bang and Irvine still remained, along with Thoma and his damaged Dibison. They took it upon themselves to pursue the Death Stinger, who hadn't yet regained the use of its energy shield.

Once they caught up, the Death Stinger snapped the Saix up in its claws. The Blade Liger concentrated its gun fire on the claw until the Death Stinger released the Saix. Though both continued to fire on the enemy, they were eventually snared again, this time saved by the arrival of Thoma's Dibison.

For a brief moment it seemed as if their collective effort had downed the Death Stinger once more. In a strange turn of events, however, the Zoid began to glow, then dissolved into particles, teleported elsewhere along with Fine, leaving the remaining Guardian Force members bewildered and confused.

After this point, the Saix returned to the hangars of the Ultra Saurus and didn't enter combat again for the remainder of the series.

- Notable Facts

  • In the anime the Lightning Saix development used research from an Ancient Zoidian technology template.
  • This Lightning Saix was said to be developed specifically to fight against the Geno Breaker, though this time line doesn't add up (the transplant happened likely days after the first appearance of the Geno Breaker.)
  • The Lightning Saix in this series combines high speed and holographic technology to create the illusion that it's phasing sideways. More specifically, it tricks pursuit missiles into believing that it's still in a location that it's not.
