The Lightning Saix was developed as a medium-scale high-speed Zoid that could surpass the Command Wolf. This task was a high priority in the Guylos Empire, and the Saix was developed to fit those needs. Integrated with a limited Organoid System it proved an effective high-speed Zoid that performed even better than intended. Unfortunately, with the introduction of the OS, it became larger than intended and its production efficiency suffered.  [1]

- Details of Design

Silent Traveler

The Lightning Saix benefits from additional stealth mechanics, including sound-deafening functions in the legs and vents designed to suppress radiant heat. With these benefits, it's more subtle on the battlefield, and may slip more easily past enemy lines. These functions remain effective even when it reaches its maximum speed.

- Military History

ZAC 2100, July, Imperial Retreat

After failing their all-out assault on Rob Base, the Imperial Army was forced to retreat. Their resources had grown thin due to extended time away from their territory, and their supply lines had been compromised by surprise attacks from the Helic Republic. Two routes of retreat were decided, a northern route and a southern route. The Geno Breaker was sent to defend the southern route, and the Saix joined a sortie to the north. With its high performance it was selected as the new flagship Zoid of the High-Speed Combat Forces.

ZAC 2100, August, Red Rust

As the Imperial Troops retreated towards the North, they were attacked by the Republic. No longer able to fend off the pursuit unit and were forced to fight, resulting in the rear defense units being annihilated. With the situation so dire, the Guylos Empire ordered their special forces to mobilize in attempt to rescue the fleeing troops, no matter the cost. They sent out roughly 30 combat Zoids, centered around the latest state-of-the-art machines, the Lightning Saix, the Death Stinger, and a variety of modified Geno Saurers. Their only task was to buy time until further reinforcements could arrive.

During the course of the battle, a Shield Liger DCS from the Republic's forces fired a bullet into the helmet of the Death Stinger. The Imperial troops heard a terrible scream from the pilot of the Death Stinger, and the Zoid stopped moving, even though there was no significant damage. In an instant, the Stinger sprung back to life, and its particle cannon destroyed all of the surrounding Zoids, enemy and ally alike. The only survivor was the Commander's Lightning Saix, which had been just fast enough to spring out of the way. The Death Stinger disappeared beneath the ground and wasn't seen again for months. While the special forces were destroyed in the conflict, the main troops were able to retreat thanks to their sacrifice.

ZAC 2100, September, The Ultra's March

The Helic Republic mobilized a large combat force that included their Ultra Saurus, carrying a huge "Ultra Cannon". This terrifying weapon could destroy a base in a single shot, and they were heading for Nixie, the Imperial stronghold on Europa. Though the Empire recognized this impending threat, they had limited options of attack. The skies were closely guarded by the Republic's Storm Sworders, so they decided on small high-speed ground units that would be hard to detect. If they could close in on the Ultra Saurus, they could engage it in close range combat and have a chance of destroying it. Lightning Saix's were among those chosen for this task, but their confrontations received no story coverage.

- Equipment Information

- 2-Barrelled Vulcan Gun

2-Barrelled Vulcan Gun:

Two gun barrels integrated into the cockpit hatch of the Lightning Saix. They're designed for close-range combat against small-scale Zoids, and with a high rate of fire, it's only limited by where the Saix can look. [2]

- Booster Pack

Booster Pack:

The Booster Pack is responsible for the Saix's exceptionally high speed. It's equipped with four larger outputs and two smaller ones, providing dramatic boosts in acceleration, as well as Wing Stabilizers on the side.

- Laser Killer Fang x2

Laser Killer Fang x2:

Aside from having high speed and good natural stealth, the Saix is also equipped with a variety of melee weapons, including Laser Killer Fangs. These fangs can charge with energy, increasing the power of their bite.

- Pulse Laser Rifle x2

Pulse Laser Rifle x2:

A sniper rifle attached to the front of the Booster Pack, used for precision firing over long distances. It fires energy-based rounds and is locked in a static position facing forward. This isn't necessarily a draw back, as swiveling weapons have an extremely poor hit rate at such speeds anyway. [2]

- Strike Laser Claw x4

Strike Laser Claw x4:

Lightning Saix is the first Zoid to make use of the ever-famous Strike Laser Claw, and its design is unique among all SLC-using Zoids. Based on real animal motifs, the claws fold up underneath of the feet when running, and lash out when the Saix catches up to its prey. This gives the Saix an edge in close range combat, but unfortunately the Zoid sees very little media coverage in close-range situations.

- Vertical Stabilizer x2

Vertical Stabilizer x2:

Stabilizers are generally used to control a machine's positioning during high-speed movement. These two are located on the Lightning Saix's lower back, and deploy upwards when in use.

- Wing Stabilizer x2

Wing Stabilizer x2:

Two additional stabilizers are attached to the sides of the Booster Pack, providing further stability when moving at speed.
