The Schneider is a melee combat CAS unit designed for the Liger Zero platform. As the spiritual successor of the Blade Liger, it's the unit that benefited the most from the combat data of past Ligers. It's a skilled fighter, but consumes a lot more energy and has a shorter operational time than the other armors.  [1] [2]

- Military History

ZAC 2101, March, Rollout

As the Empire launched 10 Death Stinger KFDs to attack Nyxie Base, which had fallen under Republican control, a special task force known as the Ray Force was formed. Schneider was among the Zoids deployed in this unit to counter the Death Stinger KFDs. While the Jagers distracted their deadly opponent, the Schneiders rushed in and used their laser blades to slice through the Death Stingers. Their battle was an overwhelming success, and ultimately, the KFDs self-destructed to protect their technology.

ZAC 2101, July, Nyx Landing Operation

As the Republic landed on Nyx following the Western Continent War, they witnessed a strange battle. Two Imperial factions fighting against each other. After the Eisen Dragoons disappeared from the scene, the Republic launched the Ray Force. They charged ahead with blitzkrieg speed, Zeros, Schneiders, and Jagers leading the way. The high-speed Zoids circled around behind the Imperial guards, trapping them in a bloody battle. While other high-speed Zoids such as Saber Tigers were present, they were no match for the speed and strength of the Zero units.

ZAC 2100, August, The Eisen Dragoons

The Ray Force charged through Nyx, with their Shadow Foxes running recon ahead of them. These swift scouts had discovered an unkown base hidden in a volcanic region. It turned out to belong to the Eisen Dragoons, who intercepted the Ray Force and urged them to go towards Valhalla, as they had intended them to. When the Ray Force fought, every Zoid in the unit was brought down by Jamming Waves and subsequent attacks, aside from Ray Gregg's Zero. Thanks to his heroic efforts, some of his allies were saved.

ZAC 2101, Late October, The Battle of Sessrumnir

When the Republic made the final decision to launch an assault on Valhalla, instead of waiting until after the winter as originally planned, army lines clashed across the country. One of the fiercest battles was at Sessrumnir, where the monster of the past, the Death Saurer, had reappeared. Schneiders were among the Zeroes seen on the battlefield, and though they fought bravely, they were no match for these monsters.

- Equipment Information

- Armor Cowls

Armor Cowls: フットカウル、レッグカウル、ショルダーカウル

Like the other CAS units, Schneider's armor doubles as cowls, which are traditionally used to streamline the machine. This reduces drag and increases efficiency. They're not technically key equipment, but are noted on the box, so are included here.

- E-Shield Generator x5

E-Shield Generator x5: Eシールドジェネレーター×5

Schneider is equipped with four E-Shield Generators. One on each side of the face, one on the throat, and two on the head. The ends of these triangular armor pieces extend outwards, revealing black rails underneath when the shield is active. The shield itself is said to last only a short time, but sport 5 times the amount of defensive power as the Blade Liger. This is an incredible upgrade for the Blade's spiritual successor. [2]

- High-Maneuverability Thruster x4

Shoulder-Mounted High-Mobility Thruster x4: 高機動スラスター×4

Schneider is loaded with a ton of thrusters and laser equipment, making it no surprise that this Zoid burns through energy. Each leg contains a thruster that folds outwards. These thrusters can activate to help the Schneider make more precise movements.

- High-Powered Ion Turbo Booster x2

High-Powered Ion Turbo Booster x2: 高出力イオンターボブースター×2

These two large boosters are built into the blade arms of the Schneider, and provide additional propulsion.

- Laser Blade x2

Laser Blade x2: レーザーブレード×2

Schneider has some of the furthest-reaching blades among Liger Zoids. Like the Blade Liger, they're attached to two blade arms that connect at its sides, and fold over the back when not in use. The Laser Blades can extend out to the sides and charge with energy.

- Laser Fangs

Laser Fangs: レーザーファング

The Schneider retains the use of the standard Zero equipment. This includes the claws and fangs. Laser equipment is said to make a huge difference in the cutting ability of a weapon, to a point that Zoids with smaller teeth aren't even able to properly cut through armor. This makes Laser Fangs a particularly deadly weapon.

- Multi-Sensor-Type Scouter Pod

Multi-Sensor-Type Scouter Pod: マルチセンサー兼スカウターポッド

The Scout Pod is a sensory unit contained in the tail armor of the Schneider. Though it appears to have two blades on the sides, these aren't included in the equipment. Given Jager's tail pod is referred to as a Flying Vulcan Pod, it may be that these are wings instead.

- Rushing Laser Blade x5

Rushing Laser Blade x5: ラッシングレーザーブレード×5

One of Schneider's primary weapons, the Rushing Laser Blades are installed to the head. These blades vary in length, forming a sharp point in front of the Zoid for charging moves. These charging finishing moves were one of the focuses of the Schneider, back when it was the Spino Liger. As such, the Zoid is known to have a finishing move "Fire Blade Storm" in which it activates the shield, deploys all blades, and charges the enemy.

- Shoulder-Mounted High-Maneuverability Thruster x2

Shoulder-Mounted High-Mobility Thruster x4: 肩部高機動スラスター×2

These thrusters are installed to the upper back of the Schneider. The top panel rotates upwards as the thrusters activate, with the equipment providing better maneuverability.

- Strike Laser Claws x4

Strike Laser Claws x4: ストライクレーザークロー×4

With Schneider still retaining the default Zero equipment, it's able to use the Strike Laser Claws. However, compared to other CAS units, Schneider has less use for these weapons, as its laser blades are almost always a better option.

- Featured In Media Anime

- Zoids New Century /ZERO

Schneider was one of three CAS units featured in Zoids New Century /ZERO. While the Zoid was portrayed as fairly strong, it had major flaws. The energy consumption was interpretted as the Zoid randomly shutting down in combat, and in spite of being a melee combat machine, the blades broke on multiple occasions.

- Zoids Chaotic Century Manga

In the Zoids Chaotic Century manga, Schneider and Jager appeared, piloted by Rosso and Viola respectively. The Rosso Custom "Deep Red Schneider" confronted Bang in his unarmored Zero. In spite of having no additional equipment, Bang was able to defeat both of the CAS units, proving he was worthy of entering the flying palace, Horai.

- Zoids New Century /ZERO Manga

Schneider also appeared in the New Century /ZERO Manga. Similar to the anime, it fought in an arranged battle against Stoller and his Elephander. However, in this version, Schneider was able to defeat him using the Fire Blade Storm after realizing that the Elephander's modified Zoid Core couldn't sustain the stress of the shield for very long.
