Liger Zero Jager is one of the CAS Units intended for use on the Liger Zero platform. It's a high-speed reconnaissance Zoid, one of the fastest on the ground.  [1]

- Concept Art

An early concept of the Jager, back during the development phase where Liger Zero was referred to as Visored Liger. At this point, Jager was referred to as the Task Force armor.

- Military History

ZAC 2101, March, Rollout

As the Empire launched 10 Death Stinger KFDs to attack Nyxie Base, which had fallen under Republican control, a special task force known as the Ray Force was formed. This unit included multiple high-speed Zoids, including the Jager. They were deployed to combat the KFDs, a battle in which Jager used its speed to race through the enemy forces and keep them distracted. This gave the Schneider units time to rush in and impale their targets. Their battle was an overwhelming success, and ultimately, the KFDs self-destructed to protect their technology.

ZAC 2101, July, Nyx Landing Operation

As the Republic landed on Nyx following the Western Continent War, they witnessed a strange battle. Two Imperial factions fighting against each other. After the Eisen Dragoons disappeared from the scene, the Republic launched the Ray Force. With Ray Gregg's Liger Zero leading the spearhead, Jagers and other Ray Force units encircled the Imperial guards, trapping them between the Ray Force and the landing forces. There wasn't a single Zoid that could keep up with the Jager's speed and agility.

ZAC 2101, August, The Eisen Dragoons

The Ray Force charged through Nyx, with their Shadow Foxes running recon ahead of them. These swift scouts had discovered an unkown base hidden in a volcanic region. It turned out to belong to the Eisen Dragoons, who intercepted the Ray Force and urged them to go towards Valhalla, as they had intended them to. When the Ray Force fought, every Zoid in the unit was brought down by Jamming Waves and subsequent attacks, aside from Ray Gregg's Zero. Thanks to his heroic efforts, some of his allies were saved.

- Equipment Information

- Aero Fairing x4

Aero Fairing x4: エアロフェアリング×4

Like most of the Zero series, Jager has Aero Fairings along the mane. One on each side, one on top, and one underneath. These blades can rotate forwards, and their purpose is to reduce drag, which by proxy increases efficiency.

- Armor Cowls

Foot Cowl, Leg Cowl, Shoulder Cowl: フットカウル、レッグカウル、ショルダーカウル

Though not technically part of its equipment list, the Jager also has several armor cowls on its body. Cowls are frequently uesd to reduce drag as well as to cool underlying parts.

- Flying Vulcan Pod

Flying Vulcan Pod: フライングバルカンポッド

The Flying Vulcan Pod is the tail armor, which contains additional vulcans. The name implies that the pod flies, but in the core lore, this isn't depicted.

- Large Ion Booster

Large Ion Booster: 大型イオンブースター×2

Jager's Ion Boosters revolutionalized high-speed combat on the Zero platform. The design was said to be more streamlined than the clunkier Rocket Boosters of the Blade Liger. With each booster also able to rotate independently, Jager's agility in close-range combat is unparalelled. It can make sharp turns even while moving at high speeds, allowing it to outmaneuver competing high-speed Zoids.

- Laser Fangs

Laser Fangs: レーザーファング

Jager still retains the core Zero equipment, including the Laser Fangs. When in use, these weapons glow gold, charged with energy so that they can cut through enemy armor more efficiently.

- Multi-Blade Antenna x2

Multi-Blade Antenna x2: マルチブレードアンテナ×2

What many people refer to as 'ears' on the Jager are actually two antennas. These information-gathering pieces can rotate forwards or backwards, adjusting their range.

- Objective Blade Sensor x8

Objective Blade Sensor x8: 対物ブレードセンサー×8

Those thin light blue blades on the Jager's armor are Objective Blade Sensors. These types of sensors are often used to gauge objects in the surrounding environment in the real world. However, Jager's many sensors are said to allow it to travel at such high speeds safely, to a point that it actually exceeds the limitations of the pilot. [2]

- Side Thruster x2

Side Thruster: サイドスラスター×2

The Jager has two Side Thrusters that replace the Downforce Stabilizers of the Liger Zero. These provide additional thrust, and may contribute to the Jager's maneuverability.

- Strike Laser Claws x4

Strike Laser Claws x4: ストライクレーザークロー×4

Jager's Strike Laser Claws are shown with a greenish-yellow glow, with electricity arching off of them. As the Jager has few weaponry, the Laser Claws are frequently depicted as its primary weapon.

- Vulcan Pod x2

Vulcan Pod x2: バルカンポッド×2

So small they're almost invisible, these two Vulcan Pods are attached to the cheek armor of the Jager. They fire rounds in rapid succession, and are the only additional long-range weapon added to the Zoid outside of the tail.

- Featured In Media

- Zoids New Century /ZERO Anime

Jager was featured along with the other two CAS units in Zoids New Century /ZERO. In this series, Jager was actually the primary armor of the Liger Zero, used far more than the other units, with its signature Strike Laser Claw being its go-to finishing move. It was often depicted as rivaling the Saix as a high-speed Zoid.

- Zoids Chaotic Century Manga

Jager makes a brief appearance in the Zoids Chaotic Century manga as the Viola Custom "Deep Blue Jager." This high-speed Zoid was joined by Rosso's Deep Red Schneider in a battle where they confronted Bang, testing his armorless Liger Zero. They carried out this fight as a judgement to determine if he was worthy of entering the flying palace, Horai.

- Zoids Century /ZERO Manga

Jager also appeared in the New Century /ZERO Manga, where it faced off against the Backdraft Group's Storm Sworders. Jager was able to defeat both Sworders by boosting off of a cliff, landing on one, ripping through its wing, then springboarding to the next. Though the second dodged the initial attack, Jager was able to use its boosters to adjust its trajectory and strike it down.
