Story Information

  • Ralph
This modified version of the Black Redler appeared in the Zoids anime, escorting Emperor Rudolph when he left the palace. They're essentially the same as the standard Black Redlers from the show, but have modified heads.  [1]

- Concept Art

This variant of the Redler appears to be based on a rejected Customize Parts design that appeared in the March 2002 issue of Dengeki Hobby Magazine. The original concept featured a retractable blade on the underside of the Redler that could flip down and slice through enemies below it. Though the Blade didn't make it into the anime, and the body of the Redler was based on a recycled Imperial Army Spec. (Normal) Black Redler, the head design is just about spot on.

- Military History

Episode 43, Escorting the Emperor

These Redlers appeared only briefly, escorting Emperor Rudolph to a vacation spot where he was to meet his betrothed, Mary-Anne. Though they arrived without incident, the Redlers were later rigged with bombs by the Crossbow Brothers, who were working with Stinger. The Redlers were all blown up when they tried to take flight, their rising from the ground triggering the detonation cables.

- Equipment Information

- Triple Cannons

Triple Cannons

These unnamed weapons replace the Air-To-Air Cannons of the Black Redler, with two positioned at the sides and one placed below the jaw. (Weapons hereafter are copied from the Normal Imperial Army Spec. as the Royal Guard is more or less the same Zoid with a different head design.)  [3]

- Missile Pods

Missile Pods ミサイルポッド

While the Redler is mainly featured using its belly missiles, there's also two large Missile Pods under the wings, with what appear to be 7 chambers each.

- Twin Blades

Twin Blades ツインブレード

The Black Redler has multiple blades installed to its tail in addition to the typical Variable Laser Blade. Two large ones on the top are said to be suitable for close-range combat but also serve to give the Zoid more stability while firing its weapons. There are also two smaller blades (likely for stability purposes given how tiny they are) on the underside of the tail.  [3]

- Thrusters

Thrusters

Though not given a specific name, what appears to be three thrusters are tucked into the interior of the armor on each leg.
