Story Information

  • Mueller
  • Ralph
These Redlers were featured in Zoids Chaotic Century / Guardian Force, and sported additional armor and weapons. They were said to have improved speed as well, making it difficult for some weapons to keep up. Almost forty of these Zoids (that we know of) were stationed at Ebonei Air Base, and they often flew in coordinated attack formations.  [1]

- Military History

Episode 29, Attempted Murder of the Emperor

With so many Redlers stationed at Ebonei Air Base, and inclement weather shrouding the base, it was the perfect time for some training. Schwarz and his Saber Tiger fought a mock battle against the Black Redlers and was largely successful, though his distraction cost him the match. While he stayed at the base, discussing these new variants with Ralph, a report of an 'imposter' impersonating Emperor Rudolph came in over the intercoms. The Redlers were deployed to kill this imposter, but when a video call came in, Schwarz recognized immediately that this was, indeed, the real Emperor Rudolph. He tried to assure Ralph that he was making a mistake, but Ralph was keener on following Prozen's orders, given he was, for the time being, the impromptu ruler. He ordered the Redlers to continue their attacks, but they were intercepted by the Republic's brand new Storm Sworders. The Blade Liger (carrying Bang Freiheit and Rudolph) escaped, and Schwarz detonated the base.

Episode 30, Pursuit of the Emperor

When Seepers discovered the main crew, Rudolph among them, he tried to take chase, only to be stopped by McMahon, who owned the property that they'd fled to. He'd been warned numerous times about venturing into his land, but this time, was unwilling to let it go. Though he retreated at first, he returned with a crew of Imperial Zoids, including Black Redlers. Once more, they were defeated by Storm Sworders.

Episode 31, Ambush on the Blade Liger

Ralph and Mueller took their Black Redlers to the Three Guards, BP, Grosskopf, and Wagner, legendary Zoid pilots who had long since retired from the Guylos Empire. Though they assured them that Prozen had recognized their incredible skill as being suitable for the job of killing this imposter rebel, they insisted that they would only accept the mission if they were allowed to carry it out on their own. Though Ralph initially agreed to this, he ordered Mueller to scramble the Redlers as soon as they had left the residence.

The Three Guards met the main crew in the Valley of Heroes, where they fought against them one by one until only Bang and the Blade Liger remained to fight Wagner and his Saber Tiger AT-G. Recognizing that the Blade Liger had already been injured in battle, Mueller attempted to destroy it with his Redler unit, only for Wagner to turn his gun barrels against the Imperial Zoids, who'd broken their promise and dared to interfere with his fight. The Redlers were either shot down or forced to retreat, and in the end, Wagner, like Schwarz, realized that the imposter was the real Emperor Rudolph as well.

Episode 34, Pursuit of the Emperor

Recognizing the importance of getting Rudolph to Guygalos, the capital of the Guylos Empire before Prozen could complete his coronation, Rosso and Viola took Rudolph in their Storm Sworders and raced for the city. Ralph and the rest of the Black Redlers remained in pursuit along the way, and though Ralph stayed in the fight for a considerable amount of time, his black Redler was decapitated by the blades of Rosso's Storm Sworder.

- Notable Facts

  • When this variant was first introduced in CoroCoro it was referred to as the Black Angel, which happens to be the call sign used by their pilots in the anime.  [1]

- Equipment Information

- Air-To-Air Cannon

Air-To-Air Cannon 空対空キャノン砲

The depiction of these guns varies a bit, but they're installed to either side of the face. While the anime depicts them with a high rate of fire, the introductory article of CoroCoro mentions that they don't fire continuously, but have long range and high accuracy.  [3]

- Missiles

Missiles ミサイル

Though not specifically mentioned in its official equipment list, the Black Redler is regularly depicted dropping missiles from its belly. It seems to carry three of these on board, from what we've seen in the show.

- Missile Pods

Missile Pods ミサイルポッド

While the Redler is mainly featured using its belly missiles, there's also two large Missile Pods under the wings, which appear to have 7 chambers each. They don't seem to get used in the show, however.

- Twin Blades

Twin Blades ツインブレード

The Black Redler has multiple blades installed to its tail in addition to the typical Variable Laser Blade. Two large ones on the top are said to be suitable for close-range combat but also serve to give the Zoid more stability while firing its weapons. There are also two smaller blades (likely for stability purposes given how tiny they are) on the underside of the tail.  [3]

- Thrusters

Thrusters

Though not given a specific name, what appears to be three thrusters are tucked into the interior of the armor on each leg.
