E50: Upper Red River Decisive Battleground (Wasteland) |

|
E50: Sheer Cliff |
According to the concept art, the battle against Raven's Geno Breaker took place on the upper end of Red River. In this fight the Guardian Force used the Delta Formation to surround the Breaker with intent to destroy its foot locks and thereby disable its particle cannon. They weren't aware that it could fire from the air, and the battle resulted in a catastrophic failure.
At the end of the Breaker battle Bang's Blade Liger was thrown over a cliff. It landed at the bottom next to Red River. When he climbed out of the cockpit, injured and weak, he fell into the river and was washed down stream. He eventually ended up in the lower part of Red River in imperial territory. Though he sought help from the village of Nordens, the villagers were terrified of the military and Zoid pilots in general, and fled to hide from him. For more information on this event, see The Village of Nordens.

When Bang and his friends were arrested in association with the destruction of a large number of Sleeper Guysacks, they were taken back to Dragonhead Base and placed in jail. It wasn't long before Sieg came and stole back the Shield Liger, creating a commotion that allowed Bang and Irvine to escape. They'd return to try and free Fine and Moonbay, only to find that Moonbay had already made a deal with the Republic. She'd continue her original mission, transporting ammo for the Imperial Army, and use it as a cover story for destroying Fire Bridge, which would delay the Empire's advance.
After rescuing Rosso and Viola following the Geno Saurer battle Dr. D recommended that they be placed as the pilots for the new state-of-the-art Storm Sworders. They began a test flight from Dragonhead Base on Red River, which went well. In the middle of this test they received radio messages stating that the imposter Prince Rudolph had been spotted in Imperial territory. They faked a communication drop and entered imperial air space to save the young emperor from the Eisenbeck Unit.
The Republican Army was in the process of developing a special stealth variant of the Storm Sworder when the base was attacked by Black Redlers. Two former Empire pilots, Ralph and Mueller snuck into the base and tried to board the stealth units. Rob Hermann caught them in the act and he and O'Connell held them at gun point. When they demanded answers, they claimed to have been ordered to scramble the Storm Sworders to fight off the attacking Redlers, but the two machines hadn't even been equipped with proper command systems yet, so Hermann knew that had to be a lie. Before he could arrest the two men he and O'Connell were attacked by Ambient, Hiltz's crimson Organoid. Ralph and Mueller took advantage of the distraction and stole the two stealth units.
The two Storm Sworders destroyed their own lackies, the attacking Redlers and escaped, ensuring that the Redlers couldn't follow them and provide a signal to track the Storm Sworders by. Even so, Hermann knew they'd be back for the combat commands, so they set up an operation at Red River base enlisting the help of the Guardian Force. When the Storm Sworders returned they had ground units bombard the sky with explosive shells that'd rain neon paint down around the area, illuminating the shadowy Zoids even in the night. With that help, Bang Freiheit launched his Blade Liger from the Storm Sworder launch pad and cut down Mueller's machine.
During the next moments Ralph used the Storm Sworder's incredible speed to take out the Silver Pteras that'd been deployed to fight them. He was soon confronted by Rosso, the Baron of Wings, who'd defeated him back before the battle of Guygalos. With the more advanced machine he had no fear of losing this time, and ironically, it only led to him being defeated in the same manner.
The Guardian Force met at Dragonhead Base to discuss the growing threat of Hiltz and his colleagues. They combed over every detail they knew, about them, their Organoids, and their activities thus far as well as analyzed the strengths of the pilots that the Guardian Force itself had to combat them with. This meeting was interrupted when Hiltz attempted to crash a Whale King into the base. Though the scene cut away, we can assume that this failed since everyone was still alive.

The Republic and the Empire had a tense relationship when it came to Fire Bridge and Red River in general. The Empire wanted to advance into Republican territory, and got close by pretending to do practice maneuvers. The Republic refused to budge, and instead placed their own large force across the river 'just in case'. This lead to a standoff between the two armies.
The matter became more complicated when a Pteras, which had been delivered to the Desert Arcobaleno Gang by a soldier named Marcus was used to attack the Empire. Even though the Zoid flew towards Imperial air space for shelter, making it obvious that this was a thinly veiled attempt to frame the Republic for starting the conflict, both sides felt that they had no choice but to fight.
At the pivotal moment, Bang Freiheit destroyed Fire Bridge. This cut the Empire off from their reinforcements, prompting a very relieved Schwarz to call for a retreat of all Empire forces in the area. If they didn't retreat immediately, they'd be stranded by the time more forces from the Republic showed up.
