Taifuu is a very strong and strict man. He wants what's best for his grandson and he's willing to do whatever it takes to keep him safe, including defending the village by hand against invading Wild Zoids. Unfortunately, he has to come to terms with the fact that Arashi is too much like his father, and that he can't stop his need to adventure.- Past

Taifuu spent a significant portion of his life defending Inaka Village from Wild Zoids. This included having to wrangle Arashi every time he went out to capture said Wild Zoids. When Supreme saves his grandson he lets them come to the village to fill their bellies and get some rest.
Soon after, the village was attacked by Death Metal, still in search of the Wild Liger. Taifuu got captured fairly quickly, and saved only because of Arashi repairing his bond with his Zoid, the Wild Liger. He had to admit that he was ready to go on adventures of his own, but still, he worried. Taifuu seemed vaguely aware of Death Metal and their reach beforehand, and it scared him to see Arashi go off on his own.
After Death Metal attacked and Arashi came back to the village, Taifuu spent quite a while anguishing the fact that he was so attached to the Wild Liger. This wasn't just a prejudice against Zoids. His own son went missing after he went on his grand adventure, but in the end, he told Arashi that it was his own life, just as it had been Ikadzuchi's life. He encouraged Arashi not to miss his moment; to take the first step on his journey.
