Shishio Ryuu
The main character of this work. He's the technical captain of the "Blue Blood Squad", a special task force of the Republican Army which includes the Armd Liger.
His policy is to "never kill Zoids", whether friend or foe. He has a bright and lively personality and is open minded, but there's also a preachy side to him... Since he's both an engineer and a pilot, he's not that good at piloting Zoids, with his personal piloting level being soundly 'above average.' As a former engineer, he uses his knowledge and experience to promote weapons development for the Republican Army. He despises the Imperial Army, and he hopes to help end this war quickly by developing a weapon that can defeat the Imperial Army, a choice he's made with great difficulty. He's taken interest in the Imperial Army pilot (Cutter), who destroys his Zoid's "Z-O Visors" and uses the Zoid's original combat power (its instincts) to engage in close-range combat.
Carol Chouchou
The heroine of this work. She's a curious and active journalist and Zoid researcher.
She's not the typical woman of this era, and her love for Zoids is stronger than most. She has a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of Zoids, and also has a nerdy side... She's a troublemaker who lacks the ability to take action herself, but she acts recklessly based on her belief that she can bring peace to the world through journalism.
Reika Rin
A female member of the special task force the "Blue Blood Squad" and a subordinate of Shishio Ryuu. She's a masculine woman with a rough temper and a sharp tongue.
She's a former pilot of the Imperial Army, and was scouted by Shishio after he saved her life. She's always snapping at Ryuu, her superior, but in the end she follows orders. As the pilot of the Catalga Cannon, she carries out surprise attacks such as subterranean diving during battle, and provides logistical support for the Liger. During normal times, she engages in long-distance transport missions of both Zoids and containers for her troops.
Hook Kou
He's in charge of maintenance for the Blue Blood Squad. He operates the maintenance claw Zoid, "Maintenence Kong."
Taiki Larto
An engineer of the Blue Blood Squad. He rides the "Gengoloader", a Zoid based on the Kuwaga. He's the youngest member of the unit.
Zoids Wild EX-ZERO Character Introduction: Empire
Cutter Berg
An Imperial Army Zoid test pilot who holds many mysteries. He refers to himself in the first person as watashi (I) (boku - I when he gets upset). He's constantly moving from one battlefield to another, but the only explanation given to him by the unit he's assigned to is that he was "dispatched from the higher ups." His machines are colored black and red (when he gets serious during the thick of battle, a phenomenon occurs where the color of the Zoid he's piloting changes color.) He doesn't have much emotion and doesn't talk much, and is sometimes ridiculed as the "Perfect Human" by those around him.
He believes that in order to make the most of a Zoid's combat threshold, it's necessary to drive their instincts, and in violation of military protocol, he has personally destroyed the Z-O Visor of the Zoids he rides. As a result, one eye is always exposed on his machines. In his battle with Shishio, where he was defeated for the first time in his life, he felt an overwhelming sense of defeat and humiliation that he just couldn't handle, and from then on he's been relentlessly pursuing the Blue Blood Squad.
* 'Watashi' is a neutral way to say 'I' in Japanese, whereas 'Boku' is typically only used by men to refer to themselves. This doesn't really come across in English, so you won't notice it in the translations, but I didn't want to exclude the note.
Frank Land
The Imperial Army's Chief Science Advisor and the developer of the Z-O Visor and B-Suits used for piloting Zoids. He belonged to the Republican Army and was Shishio's mentor as an engineer, but he defected to the Empire to follow his true ambitions.
Erwin
A pilot and a Major in the Imperial Army. A feared sniper with the nickname of "The Grim Reaper of Raps Island." He has a past connection with Shishio.
Christopher Giller
A lieutenant in the Imperial Army. He's such an ace that he had his own custom machine prepared for the deployment of the Sniptera. He also appears in the TV anime "Zoids Wild ZERO."
Collins
A Brigadier General of the Imperial Army. Like Lieutenant Giller, he paid attention to Cutter's military achievements and prepared a special Zoid with the Z-O Visor removed to match Cutter's tactics.
The New Earth Environmental Protection Agency "Dariearth"
Jessie
The eldest of the three sisters belonging to Dariearth. She rides the long-range, heavily armed Knuckle Kong, the "Red Kong."
Eona
The second sibling of the three sisters. She specializes in information warfare and pilots a long-distance support-type Knuckle Kong.
June
The third sister. She pilots a Knuckle Kong with lightweight equipment specialized for close-range combat.
