Zoids Official Fan Book 5

Messenger

"You've become emperor, huh, Wolff? So, does that mean that your wish has really come true?"

The nostalgic voice of a childhood friend came drifting back to him. Ahh, I'm having the same dream that I had this morning...

Wolff Muroa seemed to have dozed off for a moment in the emperor's office. The reports from the frontline commanders in charge of the Republican Army clean up operations were far too boring for him. Exagerations of their battle results, and excuses for failures of other operations. The emperor didn't have enough time to casually listen to all this. He had to plan for occupation policies and economic recovery, for rebuilding cities that'd been burned by the war, and the strengthening of military preparations in anticipation of their upcoming battle against Guylos. Wolff couldn't remember having a single good night's sleep since they'd returned to Delpoi. Wolff's eyes narrowed as he looked back at his commanders, partly due to his sour mood after waking up.

"Your achievements and loyalty are well known to His Majesty. We ask that you continue to do everything in your power to search for the enemy bases."

Signer Feuer spoke up, as if trying to hide Wolff's mood. Once an adjutant of the Empire's Dragoons, Signer now lead the Imperial Guard. After the commanders, who were also de facto regents in politics had left, Signer shot Wolff a scolding look.

"I know, Signer. I won't say anything that'd cause problems with the military."

"You've really changed, haven't you?"

Signer smiled. Wolff still couldn't stand up to this man, who'd been his bodyguard and mentor since his short-sighted childhood.

"Even though I'm the emperor now. So, what's on our schedule for the day?"

"You'll be meeting emissaries in the audience chamber. Emissaries from the Eastern Continent. They may be able to ease some of the burden on your heart."

The group of emissaries introduced themselves as ZOITEC. They said they were a company that handled heavy industrial products. In front of them was a cube with sides about 2m, covered in a veil.

"Now, take a look. This is the artificial Zoid Core we've developed.

The veil was removed with a signal from a man who seemed to be a sergeant. Ohh, spoke the senior officials standing on either side of Wolff. It was a hexahedron-shaped silver block. Round windows were located on each side.

"This glow... It's just like a Zoid core."

 Someone else uttered.

"That's right. A core that can be mass-produced without using wild bodies. A Zoid core block."

The messenger held his hand in the air, and a large energy screen appeared, projecting an image. In a space that looked like a huge warehouse there was an artificial Zoid core and several blocks without cores. Then, a bundle of metal muscle fibers stretched out from the round windows of the blocks without cores, and began to connect with the core block at the center. The senior official spoke up.

"Are they... combining?"

"Yes. This is how the basic skeleton is assembled..."

Crane arms appeared from both sides, attaching legs, armor, and a cockpit to the skeleton. A few minutes later, when the crane arms separated, the Zoid was completed. An artificial Zoid that even roared. It looked like a lion.

"We've named these Zoids, which are based from blocks of artificial Zoid cores, BLOX. This is the BZ-001 Leoblaze."

The first BLOX developed by ZOITEC for demonstrations. A machine that excels in maneuvering and melee, inspired by the movements of the Blade Liger.

A carnivorous dinosaur BLOX that excels at shooting. It's also highly versatile, and often the center of other BLOX when combining or transforming (Changemizing).

A mosasaurus-type BLOX for underwater and surface combat. It excels at fighting with its fangs as well as using its torpedo pods for artillery fire. It also engages in short aerial battles at Mach 0.1.

An owl-type BLOX that excels at precise night bombing. By using the wing parts, it can give all allied BLOX the ability to fly.

The screen switched to some place outdoors. Leoblaze sprinted through a wasteland where there were rocks, large and small haphazardly scattered about. The Blaze avoided the rocks that served as obstacles, jumping over them and breaking them down to move forward.

"This mobility is even better than our small high-speed Zoid, the Guntiger."

Imperial Army Major
Genius Deldaros
A man who hadn't been seated with the senior officials spoke up. It was Major Genius Deldaros. An ace pilot known as the strongest in the Imperial Army. He was present at this audience as a Zoid pilot.

"So, what about armaments? Zoids are weapons. As a soldier, I'm curious as to what weapons they could carry."

"We don't have a demo video of the armaments. Of course, they can be armed, but we at ZOITEC want the BLOX to be used for peaceful purposes. We think they'll be most useful in security, transportation missions, and construction work."

—— Yes, that's exactly the new type of Zoid I want to see! A Zoid symbolizing the coming of peace. Wolff swallowed the words just as he'd carelessly almost let them slip. In situations like this, the emperor was expected to keep quiet. To avoid being held accountable for careless remarks. He could speak his piece at a later meeting.

"There's one problem. We're still in the middle of war. I don't think we have the budget to allocate to Zoids that can't fight."

It was Genius that spoke up. Considering the current state of the Empire, it was a more reasonable opinion than Wolff's.

"So, when will your wish come true?"

In response to the messenger's question, Genius looked back at his senior officials. It was a question beyond his capacity to answer.

"I suppose you could say... after we've annihilated the remnants of the Republican Army remaining on Delpoi and won the upcoming battle against Nyx."

Signer answered in Genius's place. The messenger sighed deeply.

"It's a pity... In truth, we are of Earth blood. We're descendants of a group that hated the Battle of Delpoi and fled to the Eastern Continent. However, some of our comrades stayed here and participated in the fighting. The technology they passed on expanded the war on this planet. We wanted to make amends. With technology that could contribute to peace. It truly is... a pity."

"No way, you plan to return home, just like that?"

 Genius's eyes turned fierce.

"Don't worry. We're not a monolithic people. The next messenger offering you cooperation will arrive soon."

The messenger left, and a few days later, just as he said, another messenger came from the East. An envoy from "Zi-ARMS". They said they were in a battle of dominance against ZOITEC. They promised to provide and mass-produce the unmanned combat BLOX "Chimeras". A proposal that exceeded their expectations. The senior officials were ecstatic. Wolff looked at them coldly, and muttered in indifference.

"Has my wish come true? It's only getting further away."

BZ-011 Lord Gale

A manned BLOX that leads the unmanned BLOX, the Chimera force. It has wings for flight and commands the Chimera forces from the sky. It's a machine that's heavily armed and armored compared to other BLOX.

The Chimera BLOX were developed to make up for the Imperial Army's only weakness, its air power. They excel at group encirclement attacks. Their maximum flight speed is Mach 2.8.

These BLOX are the main force of the ground Chimera Forces. They're heavily armored and have dexterous arms, able to freely use a variety of weapons. They're also the most powerful of the small BLOX.

The naval chimera with a large cannon and giant cutter. They can also handle aerial combat for short periods of time. Their flight speed is Mach 0.2. They boast a speed of 50 knots underwater.

An experimental machine that takes into consideration the fusion of Chimeras. It's equipped with a head and weapons for large-scale machines. Its offensive power can't be fully utilized with the Demonshead alone.

Meanwhile, the ZOITEC envoys, who were thought to have left, had succeeded in making contact with the Republican Army.

"We recognize you as someone who can achieve our ideals, and we'll lend you our strength.
