This Salamander variant is a carrier for a massive anti-air-ship missile, used to bring down enemy transporters. It benefits greatly from the Salamander's incredibly high altitude flying, which perseveres even with the added weight. [1]

ZAC 2101, January, Defense of Nixie Base
Just as the Republic was preparing for an invasion of the Dark Continent, a hard decision made when Guylos Empire Regent Prozen failed to answer their cease fire offer, the base was bombed. These bombings came from unmanned Zoids (Zabats) that were being air dropped en-masse above the recently-captured Nixie Base by modified Whale Kings (Moby Dick) that were flying at an insane 30,000 meter altitude. With no aerial Zoids that could reach these high-flying opponents, and little hope of destroying every one of the cheap, unmanned Zabats, the Republic decided to re-deploy the Salamander, the largest bomber of the Republic.
For this task they chose the Salamander SS, equipped with a massive Giga Missile that would surely destroy the Whale Kings if only they could get in range. The Republic waited with bated breath as the Zoids rose into the air, reaching 20,000 meters and then beginning to struggle as their Magnesser Wings failed to grasp and react to the planet's gravity. In spite of the struggle, the Salamanders succeeded in reaching the 30,000 meter goal, and successfully destroyed five of the Whale Kings. This forced the remaining Imperial transporters to turn North and flee back to the Dark Continent, saving Nixie Base and even the Republic's last remaining Ultra Saurus.

The Giga Missiles are equipped with two auxiliary boosters on each side of the missile. Not only do these support the missile once it launches, but they're also deployed during the Salamander's ascent to help it reach higher altitudes. [2]
- AZ Air-To-Air Giga Missile
The Giga Missile, the main weapon of the Salamander SS, is a massive aircraft destroyer capable of bringing down even the largest targets, such as the Whale King.
