- Military History

ZAC 2101, October, Messenger

After the Dark Continent War reached the Vana Plains the two armies collided in the city of Sessrumnir. The Guylos defense forces were keen on stopping the Republic's advance, and in a battle that involved numerous Death Saurers and Mad Thunders, the vicious conflict could've wiped out both armies. However, on the 6th day, Karl Schwarz arrived in his Iron Kong SS. His Zoid took the place of the Saber Tiger SS that he'd lost to an assassination attempt while meeting with Rob Hermann of the Republican Army, who now joined him on the battlefield.

Though Schwarz was still badly injured from his previous fight, he knew that if he and Hermann didn't both present their findings that it'd be impossible to convince both armies to back down at the same time. Together they warned the two armies of Prozen's conspiracy, that the battles that were so rapidly eroding both sides were being orchestrated to make them as weak as possible before Prozen's uprising. No sooner than the fighting had stopped, Schwarz received a message from his confidant who'd been sent to the capital of Valhalla to help Emperor Rudolph escape. Prozen's rebellion had started.

ZAC 2101, November, Saving The Emperor

The rebellion in Valhalla wasn't what it seemed. Prozen had rigged his Bloody Death Saurer to Death Saurer cores all throughout Valhalla. When both armies arrived, he intended to detonate his own Zoid, sacrificing his own life while taking out a substantial chunk of both armies so that his son, Wolff Muroa, might stand a chance at reviving the Zenebas Empire and unifying the Central Continent. Rudolph challenged Prozen to a duel, expressing that Prozen was the only one who'd ever shown him what true leadership was. He wanted to fight him, leader to leader, and Prozen accepted. The young emperor's Saber Tiger Gold was no match for the Bloody Death Saurer.

Just as the battle was about to conclude, Schwarz's Iron Kong came bursting through the wall. Such a racket drew Prozen's attention, and when his Bloody Death Saurer turned, Schwarz fired the gatling gun through the roof of its mouth, causing massive damage to the cockpit. Prozen was fatally wounded, but he intended to see his plan through, even as the cockpit was actively burning. The Bloody Death Saurer, weakened by the shots let its grip on the Saber Tiger slip. As soon as the Zoid fell out of its grasp, it started to rip away the cables linking to other locations in Valhalla. When the core of the Bloody Death Saurer finally detonated, Schwarz threw his Iron Kong over the gold Saber to shield it. He opened a shelter in the floor of the facility, allowing them both to escape the worst of the blast. Schwarz's quick thinking saved Rudolph from being destroyed alongside Prozen, and Rudolph's quick action saved countless lives in Valhalla, as not all of the cores had been able to detonate.

- Notable Details

  • Though the Iron Kong SS is treated in almost all media as the personal pilot custom of Karl Schwarz it also appears numerous times throughout the battlestory as a stand in generic Empire Zoid. One was seen among the camp that got obliterated by Ultra the Destroyer as early as ZAC 2100, one during the retreat from Nyxie base, and another seen being taken down by the Eisen Dragoon outside of the Bloody Demon's development facility. The first appearance of the variant used by Schwarz himself was likely in ZAC 2101, in late October, following the death of his Saber Tiger SS.

- Equipment Information

- Beam Gatling Gun

Beam Gatling Gun ビームガトリングガン

The Beam Gatling Gun is a weapon typically seen on the Dark Horn platform, and assuming it functions more or less the same it's said to be strong enough to fire through two medium-scale Zoids at once. The weapon, as the name implies, fires energy rounds at a high rate of fire.

- Additional Equipment

Assorted Weapons

While the base weapons list for the Iron Kong SS references the anniversary model kit (as most lore is based on model kit boxes) the Iron Kong SS in the Battle Story carried several additional armaments. These included the Surface-to-Surface Missile Pod (above gatling), Anti-Zoid 3-Barrelled Linear Cannon (upper back), High-Pressure Concentrated Sulfuric Acid Spray Gun (right side back, innermost weapon), and Composite Sensor Unit (right rear side of back) seen on many other Empire Zoids such as the Red Horn, and the Beam Launcher (beside gatling) from the Dark Horn.

Once it starts being depicted as its own Zoid and not just background cannon fodder it's also depicted with the 2-Barrelled Pulse Laser Gun and the 4-Shot Grenade Launcher of the Iron Kong PK. This variant also lacks the TVM missiles from the basic Iron Kong.

- Media Appearances

- Zoids Anime

The Iron Kong SS was featured in the Zoids anime, where Schwarz played a much wiser role to fellow soldier Marcus's ambitious and reckless planning. It even joined the final battle against Prozen's cloned Death Saurer. When all other plans to stop the Zoid long enough for the final hit had failed, the Iron Kong punched through the hydraulics of the legs. Its arm was trapped and ripped off, all for the sake of putting an end to Prozen's ambitions.
