Death Saurer was been long renowned as one of the most powerful Zoids throughout history, and has made many resurgences throughout the franchise. It is also the most famous example of the Charged Particle Cannon.  [1]

- Details of Design

Super Heavy Armor

Death Saurer's armor is said to be incredibly tough. Official Fan Book 1 describes it as being able to repel attacks from bullets, missiles, and beam guns, leaving most Zoids defenseless against it.

- Wild & Stray Form

In Zoids Official Fan Book 1, a section describing Wild & Combat Zoids talks about the different potential stages of the Death Saurer. It includes artwork for the Death Saurer's wild form (pictured right) as well as a look at what an abandoned, "Stray" Death Saurer might look like. This is an interesting look at the Zoid's overall development, even going so far as to show the internal workings and design of the final "Combat Zoid" version.

"Wild" Zoids are the original metallic lifeforms that inhabit Planet Zi. Almost all Zoids are based on domesticated versions of these Wild Forms.

- Military History

ZAC 2044, Rollout

When the Death Saurer first launched, just one confronted a large Gojulas force. It single-handedly destroyed the entire force and moved on to the Republic's capital city, which it conquered for a short time. Following the Grand Catastrophe, there were no longer any Zoids that could oppose this monster.

ZAC 2044, October, The Death Saurer Revival Plan

A massive war had broken out for control of Mount Olympus of the Western Continent, under the guise of wanting to control the highest point of the continent. The truth of the matter, however, was that ancient ruins stood at the top of the mountain. Ruins that possessed an ancient super technology. The Republican Army gambled their entire western army on pushing through Imperial lines so that their 2nd Independent High-Speed Combat Battalion could reach the summit, and see what was really going on.

When they reached the summit, they found the Imperial Army hauling something massive into the ruins. The Empire had succeeded in analyzing a portion of the Organoid System, an ancient super technology. In doing so, they were able to use the ancient ruins as a part of their Death Saurer Revival Plan, with the intent of bringing back the Zenebas Empire's most powerful weapon.

Before they could complete it, Lieutenant Colonel Halford ordered his unit to charge the ruins. They confronted the guards, which consisted of Helcats and Iguans, and approached the Death Saurer. Sensing the approaching threat, the Death Saurer's self-defense instincts kicked into overdrive. It activated in an incomplete state, and even though it was missing the bottom half of its body, with its core hanging exposed, it confronted Halford's unit.

A flash of particle energy consumed not only the majority of Halford's remaining Command Wolves, but even the Death Saurer's own allies. It particle cannon destroyed the summit of Olympus, and burned away half of Halford's Shield Liger. With the fear that the Death Saurer would bring about the end of the world, Halford and his Shield Liger used their last ounces of strength to rip the exposed Zoid Core out of the Death Saurer's incomplete body and crushed it.

Without its Zoid Core, the Death Saurer began to melt down. The only person known to have survived the incident was Tommy Paris. The head of his Command Wolf was rescued by one of the Double Sworder units, which returned to the summit in search of survivors. The combat data analyzed from his wolf was later used by the Republican Army in their own research on the Organoid System.

- Equipment Information

- 16-Shot Missile Launcher

16-Shot Missile Launcher: 16連装ミサイルランチャー

The Death Saurer possesses a 16-Shot Missile Pod, which is stationed on its lower back, with the intent of defending the Charged Particle Forced Intake Fan. This is in addition to the upper back turret. During inactivity, the large plate of black armor on the lower back shields the missiles. When they're needed, this plate rotates upwards, allowing the missiles to fire at attacking Zoids.

- Added-Gravity Impact Tail

Added-Gravity Impact Tail: 加重力衝撃テイル

The Death Saurer's entire tail serves as a weapon of its own, striking with enough force to brush even larger Zoids.

- AEZ 20mm Beam Gun x2

AEZ 20mm Beam Gun: AEZ20mmビームガンx2

Death Saurer possesses two of the AEZ 20-mm Beam Guns, but since they serve different purposes, we'll be covering them separately. In the first case, this weapon is stationed on the nose. It attaches to a peg that allows it to swivel left and right, providing a wider range of fire. It's common Imperial equipment.

AEZ 20mm Beam Gun:

The second AEZ 20mm Beam Gun is a part of the back assembly, mounted on the right side. This turrets purpose is to defend the Charged Particle Forced Intake Fan, which is considered the Death Saurer's only weakness. The joint allows the guns to rotate forwards and backwards, meaning it can also angle towards the sky or towards ground-attacking units.

- Charged Particle Forced Intake Fan

Charged Particle Forced Intake Fan: 荷電粒子強制吸入ファン

The Intake Fan is a key part of the Charged Particle Cannon. It's used to absorb static electricity from the atmosphere, converting it to energy within the body while also further amplifying the effects. This energy is then emitted as a particle beam. However, because the intake fan is also directly connected to the Death Saurer's internal mechanisms, it's considered a major weak point, and is well defended by a turret of guns.

- Composite Sensor Unit

Composite Sensor Unit: 複合センサーユニット

The Composite Sensor Unit is attached to the Death Saurer's left arm. Not much information is provided about its function, but its placement and attachment allow it to rotate forwards and backwards. This piece of equipment is common among Imperial Zoids.

- High-Precision Infrared Laser Searcher

High-Precision Infrared Laser Searcher: 高精度赤外線レーザーサーチャー

The High-Precision Infrared Laser Searcher is the lower set of 'barrels' on the Death Saurer's nose. Their use isn't really explored. Some media, such as the Chaotic Century anime, decides to use them as straight up guns, functioning in unison with the AEZ 20mm Beam Gun above them, but this isn't accurate to the equipment lists.

- Hyper Killer Bite Fangs

Hyper Killer Bite Fangs: ハイパーキラーバイトファング

The Death Saurer's teeth. Some media, like Full Metal Crash depict them being able to charge up with energy, similar to the Strike Laser Claw. The color also varies. The original Japanese and newer motorized Tomy kits both have red teeth. However, newer media almost always depicts them as silver, including in almost all in-story images from the Official Fan Books. The profile images from said books still show red teeth, since they use the model kit's box images.

- Hyper Killer Claws x2

Hyper Killer Claws x2: ハイパーキラークローx2

The Death Saurer possesses a set of massive claws, which are further amplified by electromagnetic energy. [2] Aside from the three larger claws it also has a serrated thumb, which allows it to grasp an opponent while the claws dig in. This also allows the Death Saurer to hold objects, which as been the basis for some rather crazy customs.

- Infrared Laser Searcher

Infrared Laser Searcher: 赤外線レーザーサーチャー

The Laser Searcher sits on the tip of the Death Saurer's tail. Its exact effects aren't really explored, but it's another common Imperial weapon.

- Large-Calibre Charged Particle Beam Cannon

Large-Calibre Charged Particle Beam Cannon: 大口径荷電粒子ビーム砲

The famously destructive weapon, which is depicted numerous times as a symbol of doomsday for the Republican Army. As of ZAC 2099, the Death Saurer's Charged Particle Cannon was stated as the strongest weapon in history, able to obliterate Zoids on an atomic level. This is true even for massive Zoids like the Gojulas, which are easily killed in a single shot. However, the cannon also consumes a massive amount of energy, so it can't be fired continuously.

- Small-Calibre Laser Machine Gun

Small-Bore Laser Machine Gun: 小口径レーザー機銃

One of three guns stationed above the Particle Intake Fan. Like the AEZ 20mm Beam Gun, the Laser Machine Gun can rotate forwards and backwards, allowing it to deal with threads above and behind the Death Saurer. This gun is equipped to the left side of the turret.

- Small-Calibre Anti-Surface Laser Machine Gun x2

Small-Calibre Anti-Surface Laser Machine Gun x2: 小口径対地レーザー機銃x2

This small 2-barrelled Laser Machine Gun is installed to the Death Saurer's lower belly region. The bulk of the guns are hidden beneath a plate of black armor, which also conceals a gunner seat, where a second pilot controls the weapon. The black plate can flip upwards.

- Surface-to-Surface Missile Pod

Surface-to-Surface Missile Pod: 地対地ミサイルポッド

Yet another common Imperial weapon. This missile pod is equipped to the Death Saurer's right arm, and is attached to a peg that allows it to swivel.

- TEZ 20mm Linear Laser Gun x2

TEZ 20mm Linear Laser Gun x2: TEZ20mmリニアレーザーガンx2

The TEZ 20mm Linear Laser Guns make up the final commonly-used Imperial weapon on the Death Saurer. They sit in the middle of the turret on the upper back, and are able to swivel left and right, maximizing the number of directions that this turret can defend against at any one moment.

- Featured In Media

- Zoids Chaotic Century - Guardian Force

Death Saurer appears twice in the anime as a major threat to life on Planet Zi, as it had already been responsible for the downfall of Ancient Zoidian civilization. It was first revived by Regent Gunther Prozen, simply referred to as the Resurrected Death Saurer. A later, more powerful version referred to as the "Ultimate Death Saurer" reawakened at the end of the series.

- Zoids Official Fan Book

In Official Fan Book 1, much of the war was focused on seizing control of Mount Olympus, which aside from being a valuable strategic location, held ancient ruins. The Republic risked the war on getting a unit to the top of the mountain, and upon arriving, they realized that the ruins were being used to revive the Death Saurer.
