Attack on Mt. Iselina, Episode 11

When Bang and his friends wandered into Iselina they were confronted by its monster, only to realize it was merely the shadow of a Godos piloted by a young girl named Rosa. She invited them back to the colony, where she told them about her sister, Viola, who'd left the colony to join the Guylos Empire. She'd hoped to bring an end to the war, to make the world safer for everyone. However, Rosa was unaware that Viola had become a bandit. One who held a grudge against Bang for unraveling the Desert Arcobaleno Gang and ultimately leading to their leader Rosso's arrest. When Viola showed up with a gun Bang pretended to be the bandit instead, trying to preserve Rosa's positive image of her older sister. He was ordered by Viola, who understood the sham, to leave the village at once and complied.

- Monster of Mt. Iselina

Introduction

It's said that when the fog of Mt. Iselina grows thick, the 'Monster of Mt. Iselina' comes out to lurk. This is an urban legend that's prominent around the mountain, but in reality, the unique twists and turns of the mountains allow light and shadow to be thrown in unusual ways. This sometimes creates double shadows of objects traveling through the fog, which the villagers of the Mt. Iselina Colony have used to scare people away from the colony. For example, using a Godos to create shadows of giant creatures in the fog.

- White Colony

Introduction

The Mt. Iselina Colony is located at the top of the mountain, in a lush valley of flowers. It uses what appears to be solar panels for power, each shaped like a flower. The colony generally keeps to itself and doesn't trust outsiders, unless they are specifically vouched for by somebody in the village.

- Notable Facts

  • The villagers of the Mt. Iselina Colony believe that the mysterious phenomena of the Mt. Iselina Monster is the mountain's way of protecting them.
  • This village isn't considered a part of either the Republic or the Empire, in spite of Iselina itself being considered a defensive line of the Republic.
  • The villagers believe that Rosa, Viola's sister, is able to see into people's hearts, which they also believe to be a blessing from Mt. Iselina. It is because she trusted Bang and his friends that they were allowed to enter the colony.
  • It's implied that there aren't many young people in the village, as their experience with the youngins thus far has been that they'll eventually leave the colony.
  • Though the Iselina Colony was given no name in the dub, the name appeared in the concept art on the DVDs.

History

Destruction, Episode 63

As Hiltz continued his efforts to deliver personalized suffering to the Guardian Force, he targeted Mt. Iselina, one of the locations they'd visited on their journey. When the Death Stinger surfaced at first it fired indiscriminately with its lesser weaponry. Viola showed up, helping her sister and some of the village children evacuate while the village elder chose to stay behind, giving them more room to rescue the villagers. While Rosso tried to distract the Death Stinger in one on one combat, Hiltz only played his game for a moment before switching to the Charged Particle Cannon. The resulting blast destroyed the Mt. Iselina colony. Thankfully, rescue teams had arrived early enough to help most of the civilians evacuate.
