Mother Bio Custom by Two Toys
Introduction
All throughout Zoid's long history, Zoids Generations has remained the longest illustrated story, masquerading as an art book. Filled with drawings by Mercy Rabbit, who'd later go on to do the HMM box illustrations it tells the story of Midori and her Liger Blue, named Souga, as they set out on a journey to solve the Bio Zoid problem. Taking place in a setting similar to Genesis it errs even more strongly towards fantasy with memorable characters and Zoids.
One of the most memorable was Mother Bio, the mother of all Bio Zoids whose children scoured the earth hunting for prey. Mother Bio wasn't just a machine, she was a bonified character, her influence far reaching from her volcanic dwelling. This ominous Zoid stood as the final antagonist of the book, and she left an impression.
Two Toys, a customizer who has gained quite a large fan base in recent times took it upon themselves to recreate Mother Bio. Many people who read about this character seek to do the same, but Two Toys' Mother Bio has an insane attention to detail, analyzing every aspect of this design and what makes her stand apart from the Bio Tyranno. We'll get to this discussion soon, but for now you can appreciate these shots of the completed custom.

And Extra Details
Mother Bio, for those who haven't noticed, is a variation of the Bio Tyranno from Zoids Genesis. It starts with that bone frame, painted in a beautiful copper just like the custom used in the story. The Bio Zoids are fully articulated kits, so you'll already see a fair amount of poseability in this version.
- Details True To The Book
From there you'll see a ton of details being carefully sculpted in. Not just the shapes, but even the cracks in her 'bone armor' to make the Zoid look all the more realistic and threatening. The back in particular looks heavily worn by combat and age.
The leg design drew my attention. One of my earliest memories of Mother Bio, before starting on the Generations project here on the site was seeing the custom in DHM and realizing just how much they detailed it up. The legs have additional pipes and tubing that stood out with the metallic color. Having these details included was a nice surprise, since frankly, the armor alone would have sufficed.
- Rib Cag
Like Bio Tyranno, Mother Bio has a set of rib claws. These are much larger, however, and I think they're one of the more impressive feats of engineering in this kit. When you have a long weapon, or limb, where the connection point is all the way at one end, it gets harder and harder for the joints to hold up because the weight of the part is all to one side. This kit seems to do well at holding up the parts, even with those giant claws.
I also greatly appreciate that it can fold the claws over its chest. This is a shout out to the concept art posted by Mercy Rabbit, which is a cool detail.

Two Toys was kind enough to share a number of WIP photos, including before it ever had color applied to the armor. This shows off the detail, and personally I love seeing WIPs like this, where you can see what goes into the artistic process.

The Bio Core
Aside from the core sculpting details the final custom also goes an extra mile with translucent pieces in the core and tail to mirror Mother Bio's customs from the book, opening the possibility of LED features. There were two customs used in the story, a Bio Tyranno custom and a much larger bust statue for those Big Doomy shots. This custom's core errs towards the Bio Tyranno custom version, which looks amazing with the subtle cracks and details.

The tail also has translucent parts, representing the original lense and a glowing crystal. The articulation of the tail makes the weapon look even more dangerous.

Summary
Mother Bio has been among my favorite Zoids for years, and I was excited for Two Toys to write in and say that they wanted to also display a custom on the site. A lot, and I do mean a LOT of love, care, and grueling detail went into making this custom a reality. From the most minute details like the leg pipes, to even including translucent parts. It's the most faithful Mother Bio I've seen, which is saying something, because all of the ones I've seen so far have been quite impressive!
You can really tell that the creator was enthusiastic about Mother Bio, not just for the surface design, but for the distinctive character traits, such as the claws folding in front of the core. This custom is truly amazing, and it was hard to figure out how to narrow down this gallery to some key shots.
