- Zoids Infinity Story Mode Guide
So I should probably go into the disclaimers that I don't speak Japanese and all that, but I assume it goes without saying by now. This level guide is just to mention the objectives of each level; what you have to do to win. The combat system is fairly straight forward for most battles, but I'll try to offer advice where I can.
- Zoids Hunting
While not necessarily a part of the story itself, Story Mode has an option called "Zoids Hunting," where you can track down certain Zoids. This is the way that you gain new Zoids in story mode, as after so many levels, different Zoids will be unlocked. I neglected to record which Zoids are unlocked when during my first run through of the game, but I'll add this information at a later date.
When you go to Zoid Hunting (fourth menu option) you'll be presented with a list of 3 Zoids. If you battle any of these Zoids the list of available ones will change. The object of Zoid Hunting is to get money, and more importantly, new Zoids. To obtain the data for a new Zoid, you must defeat the total number of opponents in the hunting around. If you defeat only enough to win, you will not receive their Zoid data.
Just as a side note, you start with three Zoids. Gojulas, Command Wolf, and Liger Zero. Use square and circle to change these. Here's a list of the information you'll see when you select a specific mission (where you'll be prompted about rather or not you wanted to accept.) It'll include mock data.
- Capture Zoid: Gojulas Giga
- Number of Capture Requests: 9
- Degree of Diffigulty: High
- Reward: Capture Number x 670 BP
- Quota: 4 or more
- Penalty when quota is not met: 2490 BP
- Time Limit: None
-Warning!
-When the quota can't be met, you can't receive the reward even if you make captures.
* And that covers the bounty info. The quota is the number that you must defeat before you win the mission by default (so even if you die, it'll say you won.)
- Level Guide
Really, technically speaking, in Mission 1 your objective is just to learn how to pilot your Zoid. You'll start off with a Brastle Tiger for this mission only, then switch to a Command Wolf when you start the game. The König Wolf MK-II that you're facing is very weak, and won't do a lot of damage very quickly, so take your time and get used to how combat works.
Red Horns are slow Zoids, easy to avoid and must come to a complete stop to turn. Run past them, then swivel (by pressing triangle) and fire at them while they're turning.
Lightning Saix here is the first frustrating battle. The Zoid is fast, but thankfully not very strong. Know your weapon, and know how long it takes to fire, and what range it's best at. Swivel, be willing to take some damage, and try to hit him while he's turning / slowing down. If your weapon as better accuracy at a range, try to use that to your advantage, and fire in front of him.
This mission can be frustrating to some. You'll be using a Lightning Saix, but its beam gun is linear firing, and does not fire immediately. Stay within close proximity to the Command Wolf, and take it down with a combination of point blank gun fire and melee. If you knock one down, wait for it to start to move before trying to use any special attacks, so that they aren't wasted on its 'knock down defense.'
This level is
horrible. The BrachioZilla is a fast and strong Zoid. Its special melee will knock out 50% of your HP. The only hope I can recommend, is to stay right up close to it, and try to spam your special melee attack. There's a good chance you'll still have to redo this battle over and over again, but this is the most likely you are to win.
This level isn't too bad. You'll be piloting the Brastle Tiger that tends to hang around with your team. The Konig Wolf isn't awful at staying on bar with your Brastle Tiger. I recommend sticking to the L1 guns, since they're fast firing, and if you hold still, the Konig Wolf is going to bite. Stay close, rely on L1 gunfire and close range attacks.
Now you're facing against some Fuzors Zoids! The Killer Spiner is owned by the same kids that pilot it in the show, and your objective is to best the Spiner in two different rounds. You should be able to beat him with relative aim.
Amy is the first pilot to use a Konig Wolf in this game, that is actually upgraded to the MK-II. It uses missiles, and these are most likely to catch you off guard. Stay at a medium to long range, aim, and shoot. Avoid missiles where possible, and try to best her in the two-round battle.
At first it's forboding to see this Zoid, and the Energy Liger's spiral attack is sure to catch you off guard the first time, but the Zoid itself isn't hard to defeat. Just try to follow his moves, and swivel after he does to aim and shoot.
Now this is an interesting mission. You'll be given a funky-colored Liger Zero to fight with, and when you and RD are both on the battlefield, you'll find that neither of your Zoids have long ranged weapons. The goal is to defeat him with melee. Use the L1 button to activate the Strike Laser Claw, then charge him. Move slightly to the right (or left) so that you're not facing directly at him (and running 'past' him instead,) then press the attack button to swivel and claw.
Now when you see this guy, you'll probably be expecting holographic technology, but such is not the case. Keith's Zaber Fang is a normal one, but the battle field provides it some cover. Charge through the fog and try to gun him down. You don't need anything fancy to win.
Ugh. Here's another horrible one. The Gojulas MK-II are not friendly. It takes a few shots to take them down, depending on fire power. In this battlefield, near the center, there's a large boulder blocking most of the path, then on either side, 3 smaller boulders. Use this to your advantage. Swivel around these smaller boulders so that they provide cover from enemy fire, and stay lined up with the enemy only long enough to fire before retreating back into the rocks. It can take quite a few tries to get right, but hopefully it'll be easier for you than it was for me.
I have no idea what this kids name is, but you'll be piloting a Brastle Tiger for this mission, and he a Gojulas the Ogre. When the battle starts, fire the R1 guns. This will be the only chance you get to use them that it won't hinder you in battle, as he veers right at the start. Try to stay as close as possible, using the L1 fast-firing guns (which will automatically claw the Ogre if you're close enough.) Never use the other guns; the buildings block half their range and they stall the Brastle Tiger. The Ogre doesn't have to stop for any of its attacks, so these weapons put you at a disadvantage.
Back to the Fuzors battles. Blade isn't anything special, just use long range missile assaults (or anything, really) and you should be fine. There are 3 rounds in this mission battle.
The Gale is more or less the same as Blade's Berserk Furher. Just avoid attacks where possible and take them down with long range fire. 3 Rounds.
... That title sounds like a charming hunting mission, doesn't it? For some reason this battle was a huge pain in the ass. The Dibison are fast, good at firing, and countering. I used a Schneider and used the pillars for support cover, striking at the Dibison while it tried to round the other side. Took a lot of damage, and won with little HP.
This one is pretty easy. Just aim and shoot.
This is interesting? You'll be facing an Arosaurer piloted by Zoids Fuzors' Ciao, but you'll also be piloting one of these raptor Zoids yourself. It's pretty fast, but the battle is easy. Close range attacks do the most damage, and it's probably easier, since the Arosaurer is too fast for its own weapons, most of the time.
Another Gojulas. Her Zoid has a LOT of HP but it's also horribly slow, and not very aggressive. You'll be able to approach it more easily with close range than most other Zoids, so you can use a combination of long range and melee, if you want to.
Your ally is much more proficient at using the Brastle Tiger than you probably are. She won't make herself vulnerable most of the time, and she can be hard to hit (and to avoid.) You should be able to win though, just swivel a lot, and if the Brastle is locked down to fire, swivel to its side and gun it down.
Buster Furher's cannons pack a punch, but the Zoid isn't too hard to fight. I use a Zaber Fang AT for most of my battles. Most of the Buster Cannon shots go right overhead, but you'll have to best it in the majority of three rounds.
Your goal here is to ... run away. That's right, flee like the wind! You can take damage, just don't die before the clock runs out.
Whoo, another running game! This time, if you take any damage at all you lose the mission. You must avoid the enemy at all costs, so run for the massive rock to the right side of the screen, and use it to stay on the opposite side from the enemy at all times. Just avoid them until the timer runs out again.
This match is two rounds. Lamia isn't that strong, but on round 2 she uses some obnoxious missiles. Shouldn't be too hard to defeat her either way. The Storm Furher has the same problem as the Buster did, with shots going overhead instead of hitting their target.
The Genosaurer has moderate weapons, but you shouldn't have much trouble.
Rastainy's Blade Liger isn't difficult to defeat at long range, but don't get anywhere close to this thing. The blades and other close range attacks will deal a lot of damage, and it's generally not worth risking.
In this battle you'll be forced to use a Gojulas. When you enter the fight you'll realize that neither you nor Gummi's Gojulas Giga have any weapons -- this is a melee battle to the end. The whole battlefield is made up of moving platforms, so if you need, try to use this to your advantage. Just try to stay at the Giga's side while attacking, so he doesn't hit you first.
In this field there are multiple circular doors that open up into the sky. Be careful not to step into them yourself, but should you choose to end the battle quickly, hanging around near them will eventually make the Gairyuki fall in on its own. You can also shoot it into the holes if you happen to catch it backed up against one.
Match 30 is against Vareth and his Gravity Wolf. The Gravity Wolf is fast, and it has a lot of HP, so your biggest threat in this battle is running out of ammunition. I used a Zaber Fang AT. You may want to choose something with multiple missile weaponry if you can. There are 3 rounds that you must beat him in, so be prepared, and use the pillars as much as possible to hide yourself.
You'll be fighting Sabre and her Gravity Saurer next. Her Zoid is horribly slow, and looks just plain ridiculous while running. The weapons aren't too awfully dangerous in and of themselves, but the Zoid is a good shot, and it's very difficult to knock down. A schneider may kill in this battle, given how slow your target is, and melee tends to do the most damage against it. You can also hide behind the walls with slots in them, or bars of light. A lot of the time the Gravity Saurer will not attack through this, but explosive weapons can damage it from the other side. This battle is three rounds.
Dart is possibly the most frustrating of these battles. His Saix is extremely fast, and the timer doesn't seem to allow much wiggle room for defeating him. I'd recommend a heavy power Zoid with good aim, if you've got one. Personally, I used the Liger Zero Phoenix RDS, and the R1 guns, which recharge almost immediately, fire fast, and have infinate ammunition, while simultaneously rotating with the second R1 melee weapon to deal damage when he rounded the pillars to get to me. The battle is 3 rounds.
You're fighting a Geno Breaker Jet in this battle, but the objective isn't to fight it directly, but to run away. You can't take too much damage (which is about 3 hits or more,) so your best bet is to just run in wide circles along the wall. When your system shuts down, jump over and over again until it comes back online. Run the clock down to win the battle.
Chimera Dragon aren't very strong, or very fast. Hopefully you shouldn't have too much trouble with this. Just swivel to round corners, and fire as soon as you do. Most should be taken down before they can deal a lot of damage.
This battle is horrible. The Death Stinger is tough, and uses the same attacks as it does in Battle Legends (plus a few more.) It has vicious close range attacks, and is fast enough to catch most Zoids. I'd choose the fastest unit you've got that still balances good HP and defense, and try to take this thing down from a distance. Use the rocks for cover where necessary, but never hang in the area for long, or it'll jump over them. If you ever see it using the CPC, stop and fire until the Zoid is attacking with other weapons again.
In this battle your only goal is to land 160 shots on the Seismosaurus. You're forced to use the Brastle Tiger, so rely on its thermic burst. Move to the left at the very start of the battle to avoid fire, then use the Thermic Burst. Then move aside again to avoid more gunfire, and repeat. Please see the Brastle Tiger entry under the Zoids Infinity "Zoids Guide" to see how to use its Thermic Burst.
This time you're actually fighting the Seismosaurus. Fire at him whenever you get the chance, and avoid gunfire where necessary. His attacks are pretty rythmic, so this shouldn't be hard, and take advantage of every CPC use to deal additional damage.
Now you're fighting your ally again. The Zoid is weak, and slow, so this battle should be pretty easy.
The Command Striker is another annoyingfly fast Zoid, but it's not very strong. You need to win two rounds, so just bombard it with missiles or something.
Blade's Gairyuki Destroyer is relatively strong, but you should be able to stay ahead of him. The battle is three rounds, so swivel shots as much as possible. Close range may work if you've got a Schneider; I personally used Liger Zero Phoenix.
Mission 41 is the last 'official' Mission before "End Game." You'll be fighting RD and his Liger Zero Falcon, in the moving platform battlefield. The Falcon isn't an overpowered Zoid, so long range should do it in with relative ease but the battle is four rounds, making it the longest battle in the game.

Mission 42 is available after you officially "beat" the game. Now, every time you load your saved Story Mode file you'll be able to fight a red Energy Liger. This Zoid is strong, but not overpowered, and you should be able to beat it. Every time you fight it, you'll get the Congratulations screen, then be able to reload and beat it again. The purpose of this mission is just to allow you to continue playing; the actual point here is to finish Hunting Zoids mode to unlock any Zoids that you've missed. Energy Liger, Energy Liger PS, and Energy Ray Liger are all available now.
