- Episode 6: Ambush in the Wasteland


    Mach Storm is hired to escort a transporter named Haldo through the Junk Zone, an area overrun by bandits who live in virtual lawlessness. With RD and Sigma butting heads over who's in charge, they're both chosen to go along on this mission, with the hope of them sorting out their issues. In the depths of the desert, however, a couple of Fuzor Zoids are waiting in ambush.

- Notable Facts

  • In the dub version, the Junk Zone is called the "Dreaded Wasteland". It's on the way from Blue City to Kiel town, and is mentioned to be a huge desert where thieves (pirates in the dub) hang out. These bandits are called the Dark Forces in the dub.

  • Haldo used to work with Maskman 10 years ago, and mentions that he's the only veteran still with Mach Storm. He doesn't recognize any of the others.

  • Nathan has no name in the Japanese version.

  • Bone and Samantha are husband and wife. In the English dub, they are referred to as Bone and Angelie. In the Japanese version, Samantha is referred to as "Anego", a yakuza slang term to refer to a female boss or the boss's wife. She refers to Bone as "Anta", a shortened (casual) form of "Anata". While this means "You", it is usually used as an endearing term between couples, especially the wife, in a similar way to "Dear" or "Darling". (Thanks to Falc for clarifications on this!)

  • Strangely, Samantha is never actually named within the context of the show (Japanese version). Her name surfaced in outside sources, such as the Saga games and Zoids Encyclopedia. The Encyclopedia is also where it is confirmed that her and Bone are husband and wife.

  • The Boldguard uses a move called the "Crazy Spike Attack" where it jumps into the air using boosters on its underbelly and spins rapidly into the opponent.

  • Haldo used to know RDs father, and reflects on how much they are alike. When RD questions him, he says that they had both been hoping to find the legendary Alpha Zoid, and that RD needs to go on his own search for the Zoid, just like they did.
