Figure Review

- 02 Empire Set

This set contains five generic Empire Zoids, including the Iron Kong, Molga, Red Horn, Redler, and Saber Tiger. Like a lot of these blister packages the cardboard is separate, so you can cut the tape, slide the cardboard out to look at your figures, then put it all back together like new if you prefer to display it that way.

Iron Kong

The Iron Kong is pretty nice, with decent paint separation. The guns have a nice metallic silver color to them. Not too bright, but just enough to make them glint a bit.

Molga

The Molga's got a nice color scheme. Instead of the typical brown-ish toned black you'd see on the model kit, it's just straight up black. It's nice to have some color variation, but it also kind of absorbs detail from the flat color. His tail is also a wee bit off kilter, but that's okay.

Red Horn

Red Horn has a bit of the same issue with the black, in that the flat coloring on most of it absorbs a lot of detail. I think that works in favor of this Zoid though, making it look a little older. It uses the same shiny silver for the weapons as the other Empire Zoids do, and even includes paint for the secondary pilot seat on the back.

Redler

The Redler's absolutely adorable. Its short, stumpy little legs make it look particularly cutesy, and the silver has a nice shine to it like the weapons of the other Empire Zoids. Also, you can't fault the intensity of that stare from the front view.

Saber Tiger

Saber Tiger's got that nice classic dark red. I do wish the caps of this one weren't quite so sloppy, as you can see they kinda splotched the paint all over the legs. Still, it's a good mini, and I like the ridiculous little gremlin cat face it has from the front.

- 03 Blade Liger

Blade Liger is one of the most elusive of the Zoids Figure Collection. It's pretty sizable for these rubber-ish figures, much bigger than the smaller gachapons. The quality isn't bad either, of a static figure. If you get the oppertunity to grab one of these I'd highly recommend you do so. They become rarer with time, and it took me quite a few months to realize that they even had these.

- 05 Geno Saurer

The Geno Saurer is a nice addition to the Figure collection. The paint details are excellent for a small figure with every vent accurately painted and even the eyes added in. It seems just a little thick in the arms but that's really a trivial detail.

- 08 Rev Raptor

Rev Raptor was a surprising addition, since its never been a very popular Zoid. In general the detailing isn't quite as impressive as the others, with almost every single cap bleeding out into the rest of the body. I also thought the whole thing was a little too wide but this may be necessary for proper balance. Nothing that would make me discourage buying, just not the best of the group.

- 07 Storm Sworder

The Storm Sworder is one of the best looking Zoids of the bunch, but maybe that's just because of the beautiful silver colors. The details are nice and don't warp is badly as some of the other Zoids, and since the colors are all neutral they don't show paint mistakes nearly as bad.

- 04 Zeke

Zeke is the of the most common and easiest to find figures, but it's also very cool having a larger figure of the Organoids. Paint quality varies and in one of my figures, which was received MISB it still had a pretty marred up left leg. This is less noticeable on the actual Zoids whose details tend to hide such mistakes, but on the Organoids it stands out.
