Prequel: "Tis and Ki" [Part One]
On the central continent of planet Zoid, the battle between the Republic Army and Imperial army continued without end.
And that battle was trying to reach a small, quiet village in the northern part of the central continent--
"Sorry I kept you waiting. I made a delicious-looking stew."
Yard, the pilot of a Mammoth Zoid that transported supplies for the Republic army called the siblings.
"Uwaah, it smells good! Let's eat! Oh yeah, uncle, tell us stories about the Earth again!"
Yard picked up the girl, whose eyes twinkled and lit up when she said that, several years before deep in the snowy woods, and had raised Tis like his own child.
Tis' older brother went on to say, "Come on, how many times have you heard that story? A long time ago, people from Earth boarded a spacecraft called 'Zoic-Noa' in order to find a planet they could migrate to and came to planet Zoid, right, uncle?"
"That's right. So, planet Zoid inherited our civilization from our native planet, called Earth. There's stories that even Zoids contain genes of living creatures that lived on Earth."
Yard loved the time the three of them sat around the dining table and had silly conversations.
"You can play with the Foxies when you finish your dinner."
"All right!"
When the two finished their meals, and nimbly put away the tableware, they ran off in the direction of the hangar.
- [Part Two]
"Foxy! Lukexy!"
The two types of fox Zoids, Mirage Foxes, raised their heads as if waiting for Tis and Ki to call.
They and the Zoids understood each other; probably because they had always been together since they were children.
Yard thought about it as he watched them through the window.
"What mysterious children. It's like they're having a conversation with their Zoids. When I brought back the two sleeping from the woods, they had dark, cold eyes and said few words, but now they have joyful faces."
Yard smiled like a parent watching his own children.
And thus, another peaceful day was about to end.
- [Part Three]
Around that time, a unit led by Byan, an ace pilot of the Imperial army riding from the north in a Dimetrodon, stood by in a downpour of snow.
"It seems there's no enemy response around here. We'll continue advancing."
Confirming there was no life response on the latest electronic radar on the Dimetrodon, Byan gave instructions to his subordinates.
"...?! Uncle, Foxy and Lukexy seem to sense something!"
Tis, who had excellent hearing, also sensed the Zoid's footsteps in the distance in the vast, dark woods, and quickly estimated the number of enemy units.
"Those are... Imperial Zoids! ...5 of... 10 of them! They're coming the direction of the village!"
"Uncle, leave it to us! We won't let them invade the village!"
"No! You don't have any fighting experience. Moreover, there's 10 units. There's no way you can win."
The instant Yard tried to catch her arm, Tis quickly jumped back.
"Stay here, Uncle, you don't need to worry! At all!"
Tis face, which was unnocent up to now, suddenly changed to an intense expression.
"Let's go! Big brother!"
"All right!"
They both quickly ran towards the hangar, briskly boarding their Foxies.
When Tis put on a specifically designed headset, the Foxy's sense of hearing synced with Tis' sense of hearing.
"Wait! Tis, Ki!"
Yard came out of the house and yelled, but the Foxies were already leaving the hangar. Yard's voice disappeared futilely in the snowstorm.
Yard tried to board his Zoid Mammoth and follow behind them but the radar didn't detect them, and the snowstorm obstructed his field of vision.
"Tis, Ki... Come home safely."
- [Part Four]
"Let's go, Foxy, Wing Blades on!"
When Tis called out, the blades on the back of the Foxy expanded.
"Lukexy, begin battle!"
Ki also called out his decision to fight.
The two units in the dark night were tinged with a white light; they headed towards the Imperial units at lightning speed.
"This is the 1st vanguard! Major Byan, two enemy units have appeared suddenly. 1, 2 and 3 are already partially damaged in battle, battle is impossible! The enemy units are heading there."
"What...?! Nothing is showing on the radar!"
"They suddenly appeared from the middle of the snow storm! The enemies are using a laser Vulcan with high penetration and a cutting system!"
"Hmm... This is Byan; Head Buster party, head towards 12 o'clock at max speed and attack!"
They headed towards the Foxies that were moving freely in the intense snow storm, and the Head Buster party of the Imperial army commenced their fierce attack.
"Th...they're fast! The bullets aren't hitting them! They're going close to 300 km/h!"
"Idiot! The Republic's fastest Shield Liger only does 250 km/h!"
"These are unidentified machines!"
"Big bro, I can hear them... Diagonally in front on your left!"
"Understood."
Tis told him the enemies' positions from the sound and Ki's Lukexy pierced through the enemies accurately with his laser Vulcan.
Tis' Foxy also soundly cut through the ever-changing enemies that approached with its Wing Blades.
Byan, sensing danger, went in preparing to intercept.
"...The enemy is approaching at high speeds! If it's come down to this, I'll strike them personally."
Byan smiled thinly.
- [Part Five]
"Hu hu hu, my radar is highly efficient in all types of weather. I've gotten close so it's caught sight of them."
Byan's Dimetrodon, which specialized in electronic warfare, released guided missiles.
Although it looked like they certainly hit on the radar, the signs of the units were still displayed to the right of where the missiles hit.
"Wh, what?! They should have been locked on but...?!"
The Foxies avoided the Dimetrodon's missile attacks, and commenced a cooperative attack while communicating with contact calls of high-frequency cries. Hence, Byan's unit formation crumbled in an instant.
"Guh...!"
Byan put his left hand over his mouth and thought, then gave orders.
"All units, withdraw! The present mission is changed! The highest priority will be to bring back battle data of the unknown Zoids."
Seeing the Zoids for the first time, Byan's unit, which was at the mercy of the Foxies, retreated.
"It seems like they've already left. It's safe now."
When they confirmed the enemy units had retreated, the siblings showed their still innocent smiling faces.
Yard knew from a communication with the Republic that mid-size units from the Imperial army invaded the area and withdrew only 2 hours later.
"Bloody hell. The kids drove away the Imperial army...? They have that kind of power...?"
- [Part Six]
-At the break of dawn the snow storm had completely settled and the same quiet morning as usual came.
"It feels like a lie that the Imperial army was repelled. That such an instinct for combat was hidden inside those kids who've done nothing but play innocently...
"Who in the world are they?"
"Uuuncle! Come over here, play with us!"
While Yard, who the siblings were calling for, harbored simple reservations, he didn't dare consider it. When he thought about it, he felt like he would lose the kids.
"For now, I'll cherish my warm life as if they were my kids."
