Zoids Official Fan Book 5
Prologue
Even after the fall of the Helic Republic's capital, peaceful days continued on the Central Continent of Delpoi (at least on the surface.) This was because the Neo Zenebas Empire had adopted such a lenient occupation policy that it was hard to believe that it was an invading army.
Dissolution of the parliament. Disbandment of the military. Those were basically the only two points of the Empire's demands. The fear of the people of the Republic turned to relief, and this relief weakened their will to resist their new rulers.
The fact that the emperor leading Neo Zenebas was Wolff Muroa was also a factor that made the Empire's rule smoother. A blood relative of the first King of the Empire, Helic Muroa. This fact held special meaning for those who lived on the Central Continent.
"The Muroa family are the rightful rulers."
Even now, 100 years after the establishment of the Republic, there were still many citizens who felt this way.
The people also feared the Guylos Empire of the Dark Continent of Nyx. As soon as the wounds from the previous war could heal, there was no doubt that they'd join forces and bare their fangs at Deloi. The harshness of the occupation policy of Guylos, a different race, was sure to be incomparable to that of Neo Zenebas. And now that the Republican Army had collapsed, the only thing they could rely on was the Neo Zenebas army.
In the autumn of ZAC 2102, these various factors were strengthening the Neo Zenebas Empire's system of government over Delpoi with each passing day.
—
But, Wolff thought. Though they'd lost their main forces, the Republican Army wasn't dead yet. As long as they still lurked, it'd be hard to say this government was concrete.

Translation Notes
I want to take a second to discuss what exactly Official Fan Book 5 is. Following the original Official Fan Books, Volumes 1 ~ 4, the Battle Story continued as pamphlets published and included in the model kits. These pamphlets were called
Official Fan Book EX (FBEX.) However, this method of publishing meant that nobody could read the complete story without having to buy a variety of decade+ old kits. So, when the new Zoid Core Box was released, they compiled all of these extra stories into a single book, OFB5. This added a new book to the collection.
OFB5 contained a bit of new story content but was mostly a collection of these older already-published stories. It does, however, change a decent amount of content. Adding or removing lines here and there, changing how certain events transpired, and giving additional context and story opportunities to some of the characters within. It also replaced the original pencil-drawn images with model diorama shots to match the earlier books.
As I go through these books, I'm doing so while keeping the original FBEX in mind, and trying to stay as true to the original source as possible. There will be differences, and if you want to read the original sequence of events, I highly recommend reading both OFB5 and the FBEX.
Notable Differences
- In each chapter I'll include a list of differences at the bottom of the page, below the navigation, discussing anything that stood out to me as different between the Fan Book EX and Official Fan Book 5.
With OFB5 I feel like it's important to clarify how some of the differences are going to be represented. First and foremost, there are a lot of minor changes such as slight adjustments in wording, grammatical changes, etc. If I feel that the wording is saying more or less the exact same thing as the original FBEX, I won't bother making changes or adding them to these end notes. It's also a standard of mine to adjust sentence wording to improve readability and flow. I may do this even if the lines are the same between OFB5 and FBEX, so please don't take minor differences between the two texts on this site as 100% meaning that they're different in the original Japanese version. Sometimes I just feel like there's a hiccup in flow, and try to smooth it out. These changes shouldn't affect the meaning or context of a line.
