Proto Wolf appeared in Smack Zoids! B-Part, in the January 2002 issue of Dengeki Hobby Magazine. In this series the König Wolf takes on a number of wild designs, and the Proto Wolf is the first.

- History
The Proto Wolf was the first big step in making a successor to the Command Wolf. This was thanks to the Western Continent's wild wolf-type Zoids, which were substantially larger than those on the Central Continent. The result was a sturdier, more powerful core that could sustain the extra weight. Not only was it a further advanced high-speed Zoid, but it was also capable of utilizing CAS. It would later become the
Rapidly Wolf.
