- Military History

ZAC 2101, January, Bombing of Nixie Base

After the conquering of Nixie Base, the Helic Republic spent the following two months sweeping the Western Continent of almost all remaining Imperial bases. Satisfied with their progress, the president of the Republic, Louise Camford, reached out to Imperial Regent Gunther Prozen and proposed a cease fire between the two armies. However, having already withdrawn the bulk of his forces, Prozen was eerily silent.

Then, on the day of the deadline, Nixie Base was bombed by a fleet of at least six modified Whale Kings, the Moby Dick, which were capable of flying at altitudes of 30,000 meters. This was far above the range reachable by either Raynos or Storm Sworders, even with anti-air-ship missiles. With this leisurely advantage, the Moby Dicks opened their hangar bays, dropping countless Zabats onto Nixie Base. These unmanned Zoids had no fear of death, and could dive right into the fray, dropping bombs as they went while following orders transmitted to them from their transporters.

The damage of these bombings had far-reaching consequences, including delaying the Republic's landing operation on the Dark Continent by more than a month. The Ultra Saurus, the only still-living individual of its species, was specifically targeted during the air raid and suffered severe damage, almost bringing its life to an end. Another round of bombing would seal Nixie's fate.

With so much at stake, the decision was made to launch the Salamander, the largest bomber of Planet Zi. Its massive Magnesser wings combined with additional boosters on its missiles allowed it to climb to the same insane altitudes as the Moby Dicks, even when loaded with anti-air missiles as large as the Zoid. Five Moby Dicks were destroyed in the following air strike, prompting the rest to turn back towards the Dark Continent.
