- Military History (Zoids Battle Story)

Early History, Repairs

Irvine's Command Wolf was originally a military Zoid that was injured in battle by the Imperial Army, and subsequently abandoned. The wolf was noted to be finicky, choosing its own pilot, which turned out to be Irvine after he repaired it using a number of non-standard parts.

ZAC 2100, July, Defense of Rob Base

As Rob Base was busy organizing its reinforcements, Irvine joined countless other mercenaries in fighting against the invading Imperial Army. Many of the mercenaries were from Europa, and not too pleased with the Empire's rapid takeover of the continent. They set traps and lured the enemy Zoids into them, making the most out of their smaller, weaker machines.

When an Iron Kong PK bypassed the fighting and broke into the hangar through the roof, Irvine was the first to notice. He jumped through the same opening with his Command Wolf. With all the Zoids inside hopelessly gridlocked, the Empire Zoid could fire wherever it pleased, knowing it'd hit something no matter what direction the shot was going in. Though Irvine tried to fight it off, the wolf was thrown around again and again. Smashed against the walls, the floor, shot down by the guns of the Iron Kong. Even still, it tried to rise and fight.

When one of the most dangerous base Zoids, a Gojulas installed with an Organoid System known simply as "The Ogre" noticed Irvine protecting it, the Zoid roared to life. It was known to be so hard to handle that the only way the Republic could even control it was through an autopilot. Yet it responded to Irvine. After tearing apart the Iron Kong, it opened the cockpit, and Irvine climbed inside from his wrecked Command Wolf. From then on he seemed to pilot his Ogre in the story, with the Command Wolf not making another appearance.

- History (Zoids Anime)

Joining The Group, Episode 3 ~

Irvine's Command Wolf was first an antagonist that fought against Bang Freiheit and his Shield Liger in hopes of stealing his Organoid, Sieg. Though they were driven away by a stray Gordos who wanted to protect Bang, they'd return later as hired mercenaries protecting a village from bandits. Bang Freiheit was once again nearby, Irvine and his Command Wolf accepting his help. Their third meeting would be protecting Moonbay and her Gustav. As it'd turn out, she was old friends with Irvine and after this point the Command Wolf officially joined the group.

* Irvine's Command Wolf is an individual, rather than a standard military variant. It goes through numerous upgrades throughout the series, and this history is a heavily shortened version focusing on key battles. For a full detailed history, please see its dedicated anime page.

Battle Against Raven, Episode 13 ~ 14

When Bang insisted on fighting Raven and proving his worth as a Zoid Pilot, at first Irvine had no intention of helping. However, when the battle took a turn for the worst he and his Command Wolf tried to shoot down Raven's Saber Tiger, only to have a sizable chunk torn out of the Command Wolf's side. The battle left the Shield Liger damaged and Sieg grievously wounded. As Bang set out in search of the rare Zoid Magnite ore that'd help restore Sieg to health, Irvine decided to go on his own mission of revenge. He was stopped by Dr. D, who suggested he stop by a nearby Republican Army base and drop his name to receive some experimental equipment. This lead to the Command Wolf being upgraded to the SM variant. Though the upgrade proved incredibly effective in battle Irvine was still caught off guard and defeated. Thankfully, the flares of the unit allowed him to escape.

Helic Republic Rescue, Episode 17

After participating in a search mission that successfully located Rob Hermann, Irvine raced to the front lines to warn Ford that the Empire's true invasion would be coming by sea, not by land. Had he not done this the Republic would've been caught off guard, with their main forces located in the wrong direction.

Protecting Prince Rudolph, Episode 19 ~

Irvine would play a constant role in protecting Prince Rudolph on his journey back to Guygalos, where he planned to reclaim his throne from Regent Prozen. Irvine was one of just three combatants who helped him fight his way out of Homalev Castle when they were cornered, and even joined the final battle against the Death Saurer in Guygalos, saving Bang Freiheit in the process.

Rebirth, Episode 47~

When the Geno Breaker awakened it made short work of the general military soldiers who tried to stand against it. Irvine, trusting in his Command Wolf's maneuverability raced ahead of the rest of the group and engaged the new Zoid in battle. He underestimated the Breaker's speed and was quickly snatched up by the X Breakers, which crushed the Command Wolf and caused fatal damage to its Zoid Core. From there, all he could do was wait for his Zoid to slowly die. The Command Wolf was saved, in a sense, by transplanting its combat data into the new state-of-the-art Lightning Saix, who'd damaged its combat data in a severe crash. While at first the Saix fought against the transplanted components, Irvine's appeals caused it to accept the foreign data, stabilizing the entire unit. The Saix's eyes turned orange, the color of his Command Wolf's canopy, indicating that his Wolf truly was still alive within the body of the Lightning Saix. It would continue its journey as the Saix from there.

- Equipment Information

- Long Range Rifle

Long Range Rifle

The Long Range Rifle was originally developed for the Gojulas, but equipping it to this Command Wolf is what gave the IS its ability to one-shot even large-scale enemy Zoids. In spite of being a long range weapon, Irvine regularly uses this weapon after getting in close to deliver a point-blank shot.

- Zoids

Though we focus mostly on Battle Story for the main Zoid lore, the Command Wolf Irvine was primarily featured in the original Zoids anime, as the mercenary Irvine's machine. It remained a key figure of the time until it was fatally wounded by the Geno Breaker, after which its core was transplanted into the Lightning Saix so that it could continue to live on.
