- Military History

ZAC 2100, August, Pilot Major Arthur Borgmann's Blade Liger - Blade Liger AB

The Empire rolled out a large number of terrifying machines. The Republic, realizing that their only competitive machine was a single Gojulas the Ogre, which would only listen to a single pilot, decided that it was time to make major changes to the Blade Liger. They set out to test many different variations of Blade Liger, all of which had their own merits, and their own flaws. Arthur chose the Attack Boosters based on the emotions of his Blade Liger, which he was able to feel through the link of the Organoid System. The Blade Liger preferred these boosters because they increased both mobility and firepower, but were compact enough not to compromise the unit's balance.

ZAC 2100, October, Pilot Major Arthur Borgmann's Blade Liger - Blade Liger AB

The Empire's new Geno Breaker, piloted by Ritz Runstedt, was mobilized with the intent of dispatching the Republic's Ultrasaurus The Destroyer before it could reach the Empire's Nixie Base. However, Arthur Borgmann was among the troops protecting the Ultra. He successfully intercepted the Geno Breaker before any damage could befall the behemoth behind them. During the course of the battle, however, both Zoids found themselves fighting among a Zoids graveyard.

They were confronted with the nesting site of the Empire's escaped Death Stinger. It had destroyed the Republican Escort Force and the Imperial Special Forces, and set to weaving them into a nest for its countless offspring. Both Arthur and Ritz knew that this beast couldn't be allowed to escape, and combined their strength to fight against it. It took the power of both the Breaker's Particle Cannon and the High-Density Beam Cannon of the AB Unit to break through the Death Stinger's energy shield. However, after being struck, the Death Stinger unexpectedly evolved into a new, terrifying form.

It lashed out at both Zoids with alarming speed, knocking the Geno Breaker to the ground and delivering a fatal wound to the Blade Liger's stomach, damaging the Zoid Core. It intended to finish them both with the Charged Particle Cannon, but Arthur was able to keep them alive by using the Energy Shield while the Breaker was still stunned.

With his Zoid on the verge of dying, Arthur came to understand its true emotions through the Organoid System's link. The Blade Liger AB, though afraid, was mortified at the thought of losing to the "True Organoid". He came to understand that it hated the Organoid System more than anything, a system which twisted the core and made a Zoid more violent. With an estimated 10-15 seconds of shield power, Arthur committed to defeat the Death Stinger no matter what, for the sake of his Zoid.

He gestured for the Breaker to follow, and charged the Death Stinger. The Blade Liger AB served as a meat shield, tanking the devastating hits of the Death Stinger so that the Breaker could enter close range. Ritz Runstedt grabbed the laser blade that had been ripped off of Arthur's Blade Liger earlier in the fight, and finished the Death Stinger by stabbing it through its head. Arthur, unfortunately, died in the act of protecting the Geno Breaker.

- Equipment Information

- Attack Booster

Attack Booster: アタックブースター

The Attack Booster is a refined piece of equipment that allows the already-powerful Blade Liger to achieve higher mobility, speed, and firepower. They attach to the blade mount on the opposite side as the Laser Blades. The mount allows them to rotate forwards and backwards independently of the blades, with all the range of motion that the standard blades have.

High-Mobility Rocket Booster

High-Mobility Rocket Booster: 高機動ロケットブースター

These boosters are stored in the top of the Attack Boosters, beneath the gray cover. When stowed, the Attack Boosters retain a low, aerodynamic frame. When active, the panel opens up to reveal the boosters, and they can provide the Blade Liger an additional speed boost of up to 25 km/h.

AZ High-Density Beam Cannon

AZ High-Density Beam Cannon: AZハイデンシティビームキャノン

The other half of the Attack Boosters is the AZ High-Density Beam Cannon. This weapon is usually used while the Attack Boosters are facing forward ahead of the Blade Liger. The beam fired from them has a devastating effect, even strong enough to severely damage the Free Round Shield of the Geno Breaker.

- Featured In Media

- Zoids Guardian Force

The Blade Liger AB featured briefly in Zoids Guardian Force as an upgrade to Bang Freiheit's Blade Liger. However, after only half an episode the boosters were abandoned, not to be seen again until later in the series, where they were equipped but not so much as mentioned. In this essence, it's less of a character and more of a convenient tool.

- Zoids Official Fan Book

In Official Fan Book 2, the Blade Liger AB appears as an upgrade to Arthur Borgmann's Blade Liger. It was tested along with several other modification parts, and the preference for the AB was expressed by the Blade Liger itself. It fought against the Geno Breaker, and ultimately died to the Death Stinger that interrupted their battle.
