- Ultimate X and the Organoid System
- General Information
The Organoid System has appeared in a couple different iterations throughout the series, and the two representations are not interchangeable with one another. In this article we'll be covering the one everyone is more familiar with: The Organoid System featured in Zoids New Century /ZERO.
- The Black Box and the Ultimate X
In New Century /ZERO, the Organoid System is framed as a piece of equipment sealed within an unscannable "Black Box". In the case of the Liger Zero, this black box is located in the neck, and appears to be rather small.
Now, one thing to mention about New Century /ZERO is that it includes a lot of shout outs for older fans. Between the Organoid System, the Ultra Saurus, and characters like Vega, it's clear that they wanted to spark fan interest by introducing aspects of the show that they could discuss and speculate about. It's a good move, from a writing standpoint, but also leads to many fan theories being sourced as canon.
Canonically, the Organoid System correlates with a Zoid being considered an Ultimate X. There are only two in the show, the Berserk Führer and the Liger Zero. Laon describes the Ultimate X as having a self-supporting artificial intelligence program that allows them to learn and develop on their own. Even after suffering a defeat in battle, their Organoid System learns from the experience and emerges even stronger than before.
Laon also goes so far as to say that only certain "Chosen Ones" are able to bring out the true potential of the Ultimate X.
- Discussing Fan Theories
- Are the Organoid Systems Sieg/Shadow?
This is one of the common fan theories, but there is never any mention of permanent fusion in the show, nor do they ever compare them to the Organoids of the past. I've noticed some people also recall (incorrectly) that they resembled Sieg and Shadow. So to clarify, the above (left) image is from the Berserk Fürher, and the right is from the Liger Zero.
They are the same system. The left is not black, it is being viewed through an inferior monitor effect, while the right is a zoom in shot with full color clarity and added glow effects.
One minor thing to keep in mind with this theory is that the Organoid System in the Liger Zero seems to be too small, and also improperly placed to be the Liger Zero's Zoid Core. If it were a Zoid Core, the Organoid 'skull' would be far too large, as Organoids struggled to wrap around a core with
their entire body, nevermind their head alone.
Is The Liger Zero Van's Blade Liger?
While this theory is usually based on the Organoid System > Sieg / Shadow theory, there's also some minor confusion with the CC
manga. It's often cited as Van's Liger Zero from the manga, but this is not true. The CC manga is an alternate universe from the show. It is not interchangeable with any form of Zoids anime. The Liger Zero in the manga was the result of transplanting the Blade Liger's Zoid Core into the new Liger Zero chassis, similar to Irvine's Command Wolf > Lightning Saix. No fusion is involved in this transplant, and permanent fusion is never a thing in the manga. The Zero, named Caesar, is his own unique character, distinct from the Liger Zero in New Century.
- Exhibits of Ultimate X Intelligence
Throughout the series, the Ultimate X Zoids exhibit a great deal of independent intelligence, acting on their own even if it means going against the pilot's commands. To better illustrate the value of this system, a list will be included below noting some of the distinct actions carried out by these Zoids.
- Bit Cloud's "Liger Zero"
- In Episode 1, the Liger Zero allows Bit to enter the cockpit after he praises the Zoid. It then promptly runs through a wall and keeps on going, until it stops in the middle of nowhere. His Zoid eventually goes back to the battlefield. In this same episode, the Liger Zero prompts Bit to activate the Strike Laser Claw, a piece of equipment that Bit didn't know that it had.
- In Episode 2, the Liger Zero expresses discomfort at the Hel Digunner gun installed on its back. It also activates the boosters in response to Naomi firing her sniper rifle, exhibiting the first instance of an Ultimate X taking decisive action in battle.
- In Episode 11, the Liger Zero Jager activates the Ion Boosters to zoom forward to dodge the Lightning Saix's attack. However, in the same episode, the Jager insists on trying to smack the Lightning Saix with a Strike Laser Claw, even though Jamie had already determined that this strategy would not work. This ultimately costs them the battle, as Bit ended up surrounded, and was forced to forfeit.
- In Episode 12, the Liger Zero flails in attempt to escape the cables as it is kidnapped, being air-lifted through the roof by Zabats. The Backdraft Group successfully captures the Liger and tries to find an alternative pilot for it, however, the Liger's personality changes dramatically with these pilots at the wheel. It turns timid, and shies away from conflict, exhibiting completely useless results in battle. It even eventually rampages, clawing at its own head until the pilot is forced to eject from the cockpit. The Zoid's mental state does not improve until it is returned to Bit.
- In Episode 19, the Schneider throws a tantrum within the Hover Cargo, insisting that Bit install the Panzer unit, even though he thinks that it's too heavy to use. This decision wins them the fight.
- In Episode 26, the Liger Zero performs much better, supposedly as a result of memorizing the Berserk Führer's combat moves. It also roars to alert Bit to the fact that the Berserk Führer is not actually down for the count.

Vega Obscura's "Berserk Fürher"
- Vega's Berserk Führer is an interesting case because Vega himself is a skilled pilot. Since the Zoid only appears in the last few episodes, it's quite hard to distinguish which actions are the Zoid's alone.
- In Episode 26, as Vega is approaching the finish line of the Royal Cup, the Berserk Führer chooses to stop and turn around instead. It wants to find the other Ultimate X, and Vega agrees.
- Later in Episode 26, The Berserk Führer's combat motivation exceeds 200%, and the Zoid chooses to continue to fight in spite of Vega being unconscious. It fires the Charged Particle Gun, not only at Bit, but also at the judge satellite and even its own team's Whale King. The Zoid doesn't finally settle down until Vega ejects from the cockpit, at which point it collapses.
