While the Empire closed in on the surrounded Republican Troops, the High-Speed Combat Force swept in and wiped out numerous small-scale units of the Empire. Without this aid, the Republican Army would've suffered extreme losses. It is not entirely clear how many units were involved in this effort.
L.G. Halford's unit landed on the eastern shore of Mount Olympus, and began making its way up the mountain. They traveled carefully, hiding in the shadows of the rocks during the day, and traveling by moonlight once it got dark. However, half way up the mountain, in a more open region, they were confronted by Stefan Skorzeny's Saber Tiger. The newly remodeled tiger exceeded the specifications of the old war machine, and it outmaneuvered the Zoids of the battalion. Halford decided to confront the Tiger alone, to prevent friendly fire within his unit. He won the battle due to a miscalculation on Stefan's part, exploiting the Energy Shield to seize the Saber Tiger by the throat and end it.
Halford's battalion reached the summit of Mount Olympus. By this point, half of the unit had been lost, and the remaining Zoids were covered in injuries. There they witnessed a huge Zoid being hooked up to cables, and the Command Wolves were able to identify it as the Death Saurer. Halford ordered his unit to prevent the resurrection of the Death Saurer.
Without a pilot, the Death Saurer began to move and attack the surrounding Zoids. Its core hung from its belly, which hadn't yet been built up or armored. When the Command Wolves charged the Death Saurer, they were instantly torn to shreds. More tried, and disappeared in a swirl of light from the Charged Particle Cannon. Halford's Shield Liger received fatal damage during the attack regardless of its energy shield, losing half of its body. With this extreme damage, the battalion was without a single properly functioning Zoid.
The Death Saurer, in extreme agony due to a backflow of energy caused by firing the cannon without a proper control device, began to writhe in pain. Halford was able to take this opportunity to rip out the Death Saurer's Zoid Core, but by then, his Zoid was already too far gone to attempt escape. The Death Saurer was destroyed by the backflow of energy, and the resulting explosion wiped out the summit of Mount Olympus.
Every single Zoid of the 2nd Independent High-Speed Combat Battalion was wiped out by this mission, including Tomy Paris' Command Wolf. Only its head could be salvaged.
